PYLOS honors the breadth of traditional Greek cuisine by bringing fresh, wholesome cooking from all regions of Greece to an elegant, contemporary and comfortable setting in the East Village.
Among the ruins of ancient Greece were items such as clay pots that revealed many clues to daily Hellenic life. PYLOS (pronounced Pee-'los) - the root word that includes things of clay - celebrates these prosaic artifacts we now recognize as great art.

Great food, excellent service.
Great place, we tried several
appetizers and the steak special was delicious!
The three cheese appetizers was insane.
Pylos is definitely one of the best restaurants in town, offering mouth-watering greek dishes (with a twist), stellar service and a stylish yet welcoming atmosphere. We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves every single time and can’t wait to try their Saturday Brunch!
Wow. That is a good start. The ambience is hip and fun. Tables are small and a little close to your neighbours but understandable. Not that large a place and super busy they need to squeeze people in. We ordered too much but that had more to do with the fact it was our first time and wanted to try as many dishes as possible. We had 2 apps and 2 main dishes. I think 1 app is enough with the 2 dishes. Amazing experience and will definitely be back when we visit NYC again.
First time at brunch and was just as great as dinner.
Great food, serene ambience, interesting Greek wine list.
Been there many times but everything was particularly wonderful. You can not eat much "cleaner" and delicious food than this.
My only comment is that although we have been coming here for many years and always reference this fact, it never seems to matter as far as a table request or a sense of familiarity. Not that they have to but most other restaurants do seem to appreciate that fact.
We will come back because the food is that good but it still is a head scratcher
Great food, generous portions, awesome atmosphere, helpful and attentive waitstaff. An excellent experience!
Food and service were both excellent. Greek salad and the moussaka were fabulous.
Pylos was a really a fantastic gastronomic experience. Very good food and excellent service.
We had an awesome dinner. Since it was Valentines Day they offered only a prefix menu. I had the artichoke moussaka that was extraordinarily delicious for appetizer and a chicken dish for entree that was equally delicious. Others had salads and shrimp appetizers. For dinner others had lamb chops and bass. Everyone loved their dinners. For dessert we all had phyllo triangles filled with custard...we all loved them. Our waiter was extremely competent and was able to help us out with our wine selection. I didn’t know much about Greek wines but the one we had was very good. Our whole night was one of the best times. We all enjoyed our food. Thank you!
The dishes were amazing!
We have been at Pylos before. Since I ADORE non busy times without the noise we went for a late lunch. It was delicious and very quiet!
This place surpassed expectations! Delicious food, presented beautifully. We opted to share everything - the staff was accommodating and all of the food was well paced and pretty easy to share.
Would definitely recommend!
The chef is extremely accommodating with dietary needs & the deliciousness of the meal exceeded my expectations.
This is an incredibly delicious restaurant with excellent food and service. The only negative thing I can say is my octopus was overcooked and hard to cut even with a serrated knife. Everyone else loved their fish and we shared a variety of sides and appetizers which were all amazing and plentiful. Service was outstanding.
Excellent service and delicious food. Prices are a bit much, and I say that as somebody who eats out often in NYC, but always a beautiful meal.
What a delicious meal & such a cute atmosphere! Everything we ordered was so fresh & flavorful! Some favorites were the fried zucchini & eggplant appetizer with tzatiki, the Greek salad, and the lemon potatoes! Can’t wait to go back!
Great attention to detail. Excellent customer service. Delicious cuisine. Highly recommend x
Our go-to when entertaining friends from out-of-town or just wanting a delicious, festive night out. Weekends are hectic and they need to turn the tables, but weekdays are relaxed. We tend to order an initial round of appetizers, then add to it as the evening progresses. The Must Have: Artichoke moussaka. Sometimes there's a shared main, but just as often we're satisfied before ever getting to that page of the menu. The waiters are generally knowledgeable about the Greek wines, which are reasonably priced and generally good complements to the food. Leave room for dessert.
The restaurant has a very pleasant, cozy atmosphere, very fine service... I recommended
What a neighborhood gem! Pylos is the real deal for authentic Greek. It’s romantic, elegant and charming.
Pylos is probably the best Greek restaurant in NYC! The food is truly a work of culinary art. We will certainly return.
