Our Name

Among the ruins of ancient Greece were items such as clay pots that revealed many clues to daily Hellenic life. PYLOS (pronounced Pee-'los) - the root word that includes things of clay - celebrates these prosaic artifacts we now recognize as great art.

This is the third year I’ve chosen Pylos for Thanksgiving dinner. Food is consistently good. Quality is great snd service friendly and accommodating. The interior is restful and attractive. Highly recommend Pylos for lunch or dinner.

We brought our daughters Greek boyfriend to check out Pylos. I'm not too familiar with Greek food but he said it was quite authentic. We all thought it was delicious. The lamb and Greek salad were wonderful. All the other items he ordered were as good but sadly it was Greek to me. You should go.

We have not been to Pylos since before the pandemic but were so pleased to find everything - the food, the service, the ambience as delicious and delightful as we remembered. The food is authentic, fresh and perfectly executed. The service was attentive and friendly. Our server Maria was quite good and made the experience that much more enjoyable.

First of all Maria C is a wonderful waitress. She helped us pick out a great wine and nicely convinced me to order the lamb shank when I was just going to order chicken. When we first got there we were offered warm pita with hummus that was so good. Then we ordered the melted cheese, not sure what it’s called but it was delicious. Then as I said I ordered the lamb shank and my husband ordered lamb chops both of us were very pleased with our food came out warm came out prompt. Then to top it all off we had the chocolate mousse for dessert! So good! Would highly recommend going to this restaurant if you’re in the area

Dinner was great, I had the Pork shoulder special which was incredible and it came recommended by the waiter. I ordered right.. The Saganaki was good, Greek salad excellent, and the Bronzino was very good. I was in the mood for a cocktail but learned they only do wine and beer. the Wine was great and I forgot about wanting a cocktail after the first sip.

We went at 10pm after a comedy club. We were very hungry. They took our order and had food out in no time. The food was delicious. Every part of the dinner was great. Can’t wait to take our Greek relatives there.

superb food. Table for three is really for two —tiny and did not hold all of our food. Quite frustrating, especially when the food is so good. It may force us to order less the next time.

This is What Greek food should be like. Great waiter, from the Milos island in Greece, extremely helpful and friendly. Not like the stuck up Malakas from Athens. Highly recommend this place. Will be back.

The best Greek salad I’ve ever eaten! Haloumi is the perfect balance of sweet and saltiness. Octopus grilled to perfection. I’ve been taking guests to Pylos for ten years and the exceptional quality has not changed. Great location in the east village. Probably my all time favourite restaurant.

Disppointing. We came here because of good reviews, expecting authentic greek food. But, food is neither good nor Greek. So, I'm not sure where the good reviews are coming from. We ordered appetizers and different food and overall very disappointing experience. The Octopus we ordered was too soft and gelatinous. They did not process it right and it was actually gross and we could not eat it. They added a sweet dressing to it which made it worse. They asked if we did not like it and we told them how we felt about it but they did not do anything to fix it!!!! The greek salad was just ok , i expected really nice olive oil but it was nothing special. We ordered the salmon and the pistachio crust fish. The salmon was the only good dish but that was also too greasy. The pistachio crust fish was disgusting. The fish was old and you could tell it by the color, it was too fishy and did not taste good at all. Once they found out we were not happy by the food left on our plates, they dismissed us and did not bother asking if we needed anything else. I will not go back to this place and do not recommend it to anyone.
