PY Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
PY ranks as one of the best if not THE best "steak house" in Southern Arizona which is saying something in a location where beef has been king since the days of the missions, presidios, and ranchos. The service is attentive without being overly hovering. Dean and his team made the evening memorable. The wine list is notable, while the whiskey list arguably is the top one to be found in the state for single malt aficionados. Presentations are clean and appealing; side dishes creative and delectable as perfect accompaniments to the high quality entrees; sea food appetizers almost made me forget my primary reason for the visit --BEEF. The ambiance is subtle. You can conduct a conservation comfortably--what a concept. While not for everyday dining because of the price, it is worth every cent for a special occasion. I look forward to a return visit. Bravo to Executive Chef Ryan Clark and Chef de Cuisine Roderick Le Desma.
I had the 5 course tasting and i thought it was good and the wine paired well with the food, but as a chef i beleive the entree could have been better for the price. The steak was good but the side included was a roasted tomato, bone marrow and a few potato chips. If it would have included a better side I would have given 5 stars. All of the other dishes were good.
Considering the menu prices we expected a much more formal setting. We felt over dressed in our business casual attire as there were people in flip flops and t-shirts. We really wanted a classy night out without our children a "date night" if you will. Our server was really friendly, but service was extremely slow, took a very long time to take our order and a extremely long time for our food to come. When it did arrive the presentation was beautiful ( pictures shown)! I ordered the 12oz Top Sirloin medium rare but it came very rare not medium rare...but we waited so long to get our food I didn't want to send it back, not to mention I wasn't even asked by the server if it was cooked properly. Every good steak house I have been to this question is asked every time. My husband had the Duck, very small portion and tasted very bland. We shared a side of the spicy fried brussel sprouts which were amazing, they were the best part of the whole meal hands down. When it came to desert we were looking forward to the banana creme brule but we were informed they were out, the server did offer the citrus cheesecake with their compliments. It was a nice gesture and we took him up on the offer, it was ok, very very tart.
All in all we thought the wait was extremely long to get our food which really cut into our "date night" time to explore the casino and the food is way over priced for the quality received. We probably will not be returning any time in the near future.
The chef has changed the menu quite a bit since our last visit, and it's nice to see the new dishes: lamb, duck, etc. We had the burrata appetizer and it was quite generous and accompanied by some lovely figs, but could have used a splash of balsamic vinegar. My husband's scallops were perfectly cooked, and my duck was accompanied by delicious pureed celeriac and veggies in an outstanding sauce. The star of the evening were unbelievably delicious Brussels sprouts cooked in a mustard butterscotch sauce (sounds weird but both of us couldn't stop eating them). I can't wait to go back in late February when the menu is changed again!
The best meal I’ve had since moving to Tucson 5 years ago. The service was out of this world. Jennifer and our server, Dean, were absolutely on top of everything. The food was cooked perfectly and my wife is still talking about the brussel sprouts. We will absolutely be back.
My fiancé and I don't have a lot of chances or time to go on dates together due to our schedules. When one of my clients suggested going to PY Steakhouse at the casino for their great steaks, I was excited. We both had the The fillet, she had the 6oz and I had the 10oz both were to be medium rare. We ordered the brussel sprouts along with the mac and cheese and opted for the lobster due to our special night. The food came and looked fantastic, that is until Stacey ( fiancé ) cut into her steak, she then asked the wait staff what the doneness looked like to her. She promptly got Dean (I think that was our waiters name) he also agreed that it was cooked well passed medium rare and apologized. I then asked if there was any lobster in the mac&cheese. Dean said that it looked as if the kitchen had simply forgotten. He then took Stacey's meal away to be fixed. Then basically took everything off the table including my meal to keep warm and the sides so it was like we were starting the meal over again. We talked and ate the bread with that amazing butter that was the star of the show.
Sorry this has gotten long and wordy!!!!
In-short I wouldn't recommend PY steakhouse to anyone.
Dean was great but with the food was unfortunately left plenty to be desired.
On top of all of this we were seated at the right of the picture in the back. One thing that bothered me at our seat was the wall. It was filthy with food splatter and was not a particularly nice view during our meal.
We both agreed that we would have had a better experience at Moby's.
It would have been nice to get our dessert for free or a percentage taken off of the meal. Just a little something to make it feel like not a complete loss of a what could have been a great meal experience
We have dined at PY Steakhouse since the day it opened. Of all of the chefs that have been in charge there Ryan Clark brought every aspect of the restaurant to the highest levels.
The staff are friendly and professional and usually anticipate the diner's needs without intruding. By the end of the meal they feel like good friends.
The delicious food provides a wide range of options and is simply melt in your mouth good. The presentations are "photo quality".
In addition to the regular menu there are specials (e.g., prime Rib Wednesdays) that will draw you back time and again.
5-Star all around. A hidden gem on the west side. If you're tired of the usual formulaic restaurant and would like a quality change of pace this is the place for you. Here's an example - the chef had purchased some unbelievably succulent and sweet scallops that morning. He asked, "How would you like them prepared, and as an entree' or starter, and how many?" We had them as a starter, flame broiled to perfection with an indescribably delicious sauce. And that was just the appetizer!
The service was excellent as well. Our waiter was very knowledgeable on the wine list and about the details of every dish on the menu. And at the end of the meal, he was happy to deliver our coffee service to the fireplace lounge in the hotel bar next door.
We ordered crab legs and lobster tail for our special anniversary. The appetizer of oysters was delivered in a timely manner, but then we waited close to an hour for our dinner. The bill was a lot for nothing really special that we couldn't have gotten at Red Lobster for a lot less. Disappointing to say the least.
PY is one of our favorite places for special occasions because not only do you get to enjoy amazing food, but it is conveniently located in the midst of amazing fun. Our most recent meal there was wonderful, as always. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. Prices seem to have gone up a little (not surprising with wage increases), but i was disappointed to see that the sides (at least the asparagus) are not really enough to share. For $8 we got 5 pieces of asparagus. I remember when we could order a side and share it. Other than that, the service was wonderful and we enjoyed our meal. Definitely will go back for our next special occasion.
