Pusser's Caribbean Grille - Annapolis Ratings and Reviews
The wait staff was not very friendly and seemed to be a little irritated by questions. While we did go for the January dinner special, it was good for the value; however, I will not go for another dinner special. The draught beer lines were frozen, so you could not get any drafts. There was no heat in the hallway or bathrooms. Also, the bathrooms looked as if they had not been cleaned in over a month.
The food was decent and the place was incredibly not busy. Unfortunately, a few loud football patrons choose to let their enthusiasm drive their vulgarity, and the staff neglected to correct them. F-bombs, shouted randomly, rarely make for a good dinner moment. Top that off with the staff being more interested in the football game then attending to the patrons, and we were less than impressed.
Meal would have a higher rating but the undercooked veggies (almost raw) were a negative on an otherwise OK meal. Like most Annapolis restaurants, it underachieves but the special prime rib deal brought us in. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother to go to this or other restaurants near the city dock.
We were very surprised with how affordable the prices were. The portions were great with fun flavors in every bite. We were sitting in the sunroom with views of the water which was very nice but moderately noisy. The inner dining room was much more peaceful, so depending on what you are looking for, they have both. The only things I would suggest in the future is more sauce in their honey rum caramel Banana dessert and warmer bathrooms.
I requested a table by the water on open table which I understand is a request. The hostess said she had no tables there and sat us in the back. Two minutes later 2 tables of people left. She should have known they were coming up and told us we could wait for the table.
At breakfast we requested a table by the water and the waitress said there were none. She took us to a crowded table in the back and I saw a table empty by the water and asked her if we could have that one and she rolled her eyes and took us to one nearby. I again asked for the one by the water and she again rolled her eyes. It is a shame that this restaurant has gone downhill. We used to love it. There is no reason to be rude to clients.
The service and ambiance was great. We went during the same time as the boat show so needless to say, we enjoyed ourselves watching the beautiful boats. The icing, we were seated right next to a window.
The food was good, not great. We ordered the oyster Rockefeller which was divine but came in small portion. I then ordered the Grouper which was pretty good.
This restaurant has been one of our favorites in the past, but things have gone downhill. The restaurant was not clean. The french toast I ordered was soggy. Eggs and pancakes, etc. were mediocre at best. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the view. Bathrooms were gross. Broken stall doors and locks and remnants of last nights college dance party left much to be desired at this restaurant. Friendly and efficient waiter was the only positive.
My friend and I both had the Crab Cake lunch meal. Crab Cake was okay. I like my crab cake with drawn butter. Had to ask for it, but was served ice cold hard butter. had to ask a 2nd time for drawn butter (melted).
Couldn't ask for a better location. Great Boat watching.
I just moved to Annapolis and was receiving friends for the day. I was looking for a good place to eat and saw the ad for Pusser's on my computer. Decided to make reservations. It was a truly wonderful, relaxing experience. Excellent food, excellent service and an over-all great lunch. Would indeed suggest it for anyone looking for a good place to dine in Annapolis. I will definitely return.
The pain killers are well made. The food is outstanding, well prepared, and tasty. Fresh salads with creative dressings. The coconut shrimp is outstanding. The fish is well prepared with a variety of preparation styles. The waterside seating is scenic and fun to wwtchnthe boats. We dine here every trip to Annapolis.
Pusser's is always a fun time. We sat outside by the water on a beautiful Sunday night. I had the swordfish Annapolitan style (with a crab meat topping) and my husband had the barramundi - both were very good. The crab dip was delicious as was the brownie Sundae. Service was fast and friendly.
The fish of the day was seasoned and cooked perfectly and that was what we had come for - and I'd go back just for that, it was that good. Otherwise the experience was bearable but not the makings of an enjoyable dinner out. (The lights were overly bright, the drinks were just drinkable, the veg were bland, and the rice was well seasoned but dry.) maybe if the weather had allowed us to sit outside or if we'd gone during the day and could enjoy the view it would have been better overall.
Although the waterfront view at Pusser's is fabulous, the food is not great. I ordered the same Mahi dish as my two friends, except broiled instead of grilled. When the food arrived their fish had seasoning and mango salsa, mine was absolutely bland with no seasoning or salsa. Our server didn't come back until we were finished with the meal. When I complained to her about my dinner, she replied that's the way broiled fish comes. Possibly the worst restaurant meal I've ever had, though I will say that the Coconut Shrimp appetizer was very good.
The appetizers and entres are tasty and plentiful. The PainKiller cocktail is one of the best of it's kind that I've ever tasted. Dockside table dining is not to be missed, but the sailboat cruise yacht takes up half the dock and all the view of the harbor. Our waiter "went missing" for long periods of time. My fiance and I drive 140 miles round trip a few times a year to come here, but if it wasn't for the watery ambiance, we'd go somewhere else.
