Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
Situated in the magnificent courtyard of the Colony Palms Hotel, the restaurant design evokes the glamour of the 1930’s and 40’s when the Colony Palms was “the” place to be seen in Palm Springs. Amazing food, stunning decor, mountain views, and gracious service…what more can be said?
We always enjoy Purple Palm.
Another great dinner at Purple Palm. Everyone really enjoyed their cocktails and meal. Inventive dishes make it special - and the setting (outside by the pool) added to the overall effect.
We had been wanting to try the Purple Palm since the Colony Palm Hotel is so beautiful architecturally and we’d walked by it often. We were greeted immediately and warmly. The service throughout was first class as was the food. We sat inside because it was a bit cool, but the outside seating overlooking the pool looks great too. The fact they have free valet parking is also a nice touch. I had a wonderful burrata tomato watermelon salad to start which was delicious. My salmon entree was cooked perfectly and served on a lovely sweet pea purée. My companions had Caesar salad, beet salad and soup for starters and one also chose the salmon and two chose the prosciutto wrapped pork tenderloin. For dessert, we had the Chocolate Budino Tart and a Creme Brûlée. All the food tasted absolutely delicious. With 3 glasses of wine plus tip, the dinner was just over $300 for 4 of us. We will definitely go again.
Truly a great place for lunch or dinner
The room was beautifully decorated, our waiter was excellent, the drinks and food were so tasty and full of flavor, and we enjoyed our experience all around. Free valet out front and a lovely walk around the courtyard to the restaurant.
We have had many wonderful dinners at this hidden gem...but our last visit (January Sunday night) was a real disappointment. My appetizer needed to be refined because the first on arrived cold. They accommodated my request promptly but even hot the ravioli were disappointing. Our salads were over dressed and extremely salty. Again the server tried to remedy the situation providing salads with less dressing...but again the dressing was very salty. A dinner with wine will cost $60-80 per person. The location and atmosphere are superior. But on this one occasion we were very disappointed.
I love this restaurant and have eaten here many times. Something I’ve noticed the last few times I’ve eaten here is that the food seems to be over salted. The first time I noticed it I figured it was probably just a fluke. But now, it seems to be fairly consistent as I’ve noticed it the last four or five times I’ve been there. This past Thursday I had the strip loin entrée and the meat and the vegetable were so heavily salted I could actually taste the salt granules. It’s a shame, because the food has always been so consistently good here. As someone who doesn’t use a lot of salt when I’m cooking, I find having too much salt to be very unpleasant. Even though I try to drink a lot of water with the meal, I tend to wake up in the middle of the night feeling extremely thirsty and dehydrated. It would be great if they could reduce the amount of salt used in the kitchen on the meals. For those who like their meals very salty they can always add it at the table.
It was my second time here. Food is predictable, and a great atmosphere. My steak was a bit tough and had a lot of fat on it. My date had the lamb which was excellent.
Overall a nice dinner.
Great dinner after a film festival movie...perfect service, excellent food. Salmon cooked to perfection!
Great meal and nice waitstaff.
New Year’s Day lunch, slow and only moderately friendly service. Won’t go back
Had reservations waited 1/2 past reservation very disorganized front desk staff. Waited 20 min more for someone to take our drink order... waited another 30 min for someone to take food order food came in another 45 min very poor service. Would not return.
We are so happy that we chose the Purple Palm when getting together with our friends who were visiting town. My biggest complaint about nicer restaurants in Palm Springs is the lack of quality service. The staff were all perfectly attentive and our server was just the right touch to compliment the excellent food. The only ‘complaint’ was that as the weather was cold the doors were closed and it effected the noise level (people enjoying themselves at the bar which is open to the restaurant indoor space. In the summer when its nice and lighter later its such a gorgeous place to sit outdoors and watch the sun set. It’s a hidden gem and we’ve always been very happy after our meals. I don’t hesitate recommending it to everyone.
We were greeted by friendly staff we happily facilitated our request to dine indoors. We were waited on by a friendly and attentive waiter who served the delicious food in a quick and effective manner. I highly recommend dining at the Purple Palm and would happily return if I visit the area again.
Food and drink by the pool is exquisite!
It's worth going, we were expecting more on the food. We also felt like they were trying to get rid of us, we drank and ate in about 1 hour.
But the place and the staff super friendly and beautiful place.
We spent a lot of time waiting for our table to be cleared after each dish. We waited at least 20 minutes to get the bill.
Food was good, ambiance wonderful...good chance our credit card info was compromised here.
Always enjoy the food here, albeit since the dining room is small and the bar is in the DR, it gets loud, but I sort of like the energy overall. The $65 prix fixe Christmas Eve dinner was a bargain I thought, with really sold choices in 1st/Main and dessert categories. Wally, the manager, is an outstanding host, recommended. And the courtyard of the Colony Palms is not to be missed, no wonder all the mafia icons back in the day thought it was such a classy place--gorgeous inside. If nothing else, stop in for a drink...worth the look regardless.
The food, the service, the wine, the affogato to finish our experience... everything was amazing! We WILL be back!
Always outstanding! The food is wonderful and beautifully prepared. The staff are warm and friendly and the atmosphere couldn’t be more relaxing!
This is my go to breakfast spot in Palm Springs. Off the beaten path, so you’re not surrounded by polyester wearing tourists and grey hairs looking for a bargain. Poolside dining at a small boutique hotel is the way to go. Coffee is full bodied but not strong. Farm fresh eggs! If you get potatoes, ask for them extra crisp...... ridiculously good.
Michael, the weekend host, could not be more welcoming and friendly. Treats me like a friend every time I come in, which is most Sundays. The entire staff, in fact, are beyond warm.
There was a private party in the room off the dining room that was very noisy but the waiter was happy to shut the door so it was more quiet. The food was fantastic, service great. I'm still thinking about the Pork Tenderloin....delicious.
Great food. Fun drinks. Fabulous service.
Love this little get-away restaurant. Rarely crowded and always delicious.
Two times here while vacationing in Palm Springs. Stellar on both occasions.
While the food was just OK...to have to pay $3.00 for the bread?? Thats insane...
Won't go back for sure!
We had a very nice birthday brunch on thanksgiving day.
Love the ambiance, delicious meals.
We just love purple palm. The pre dinner cocktails at the bar are a must. Show up early. Great atmosphere and staff. See ya soon
disappointing. since i live only a couple blocks away, i've been to PP several times and have considered it one of my favs. this visit did not live up to previous. My Manhattan was weirdly sweet. Everyone's food was not as good as expected. The steak was tough and undercooked. the tuna had an unpleasant smokey quality. the deserts were a particular let down. i had salmon added to my salad and it was good if not a bit meager. i will be back, but with caution.
From the wonderful valet to the attention from the host. This is a wonderful dining experience! Our very attractive waiter Parker had lots of recommendations and was spot on! We had friends in from out of town and they loved it ( it not just a restaurant).
Consistently good food, beautiful ambiance and attentive service in a delightful setting. One of the best choices in Palm Springs.
Great Birthday Celebration but will be back just because so delicious and swanky in casual way- a little throwback with current touch to Palm Springs past! Loved it!
Awesome appetizers. Mains mediocre (sadly). Desert excellent gelato. Excellent service. Ambience A+. Need to improve the mains.
Very good service and food. Loved our waitress! The ambiance is very nice, you feel like you’re in Casa Blanca! Would go again
Great quiet place. It’s like you stepped back in time to old 1940s Palm Springs.
