Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
Situated in the magnificent courtyard of the Colony Palms Hotel, the restaurant design evokes the glamour of the 1930’s and 40’s when the Colony Palms was “the” place to be seen in Palm Springs. Amazing food, stunning decor, mountain views, and gracious service…what more can be said?
Perfect place for a romantic dinner for 2 on a warm summer night.
Dinner on Sunday was wonderful as always. That is why the Purple Palm is one of our favorite restaurants
The food was delicious and very well presented. Our server was very friendly & professional .
Great from start to finish.
Great culinary experience. Excellent service. Very magical and mellow "back in time" place.
Had a late lunch with my boyfriend, and it was such a comfortable, warm, and chic environment. will definitely be going back again.
Nico was our waiter and he couldn’t have been more pleasant. The service was excellent. Decided to have many little plates instead of an entree just so we could taste as many different flavors as we could. And every flavor was better than the next.
This place is delicious with an amazing ambiance. The decor is perfect and the history of the hotel and restaurant make it a must do. This is a must stop when coming to Palm Springs.
Our service was terrible. We were ignored for 30 minutes before anyone even came to our table.
The service was amazing. Complimentary valet parking, good drinks and food and the atmosphere was beautiful. We were celebrating our anniversary and the manager turned on the lights by the pool so he could take a nice photo for us. We highly recommend this restaurant!!
Great service. Friendly, comfortable place. Food has high aspirations, some dishes achieve, others not do much.
It was ok. Food was mediocre. Service was decent but not amazing. Place is cool inside. I wouldn’t return.
We've been here many times before, but this time the menu seemed very limited, the food was average (typically it's outstanding), and despite nearly no people sitting on the patio, we were seated directly next to a table of very loud talkers. The view is amazing from the place, and the bartender is awesome (can make any drink you want), but it was a bit of a let down this time. Hoping it's better next time, since it is not a cheap night out.
You can't go wrong with the Purple Palm. To sit over looking the pool and mountains while enjoying the beautiful mornings is amazing, but to add an incredible breakfast like the Smoke Salmon Tartine, it doesn't get much better than that. Just sit, relax, enjoy and get whisked away into the Palm Springs lifestyle.
Delicious, peaceful, wonderful decor. We loved it and can't wait to go back.
Admittedly a slow night, but had a 7 pm reservation and maybe there were 2 other tables in use and 1-2 people at the bar. Service was spotty, waitress was hovering, checking if we were ready to order every few minutes. the food was very good. definitely would return for the food. But at 8:45 waitress announced last call at the bar- last call at 8:45 I asked- stunned, I looked around, it wasn't a boca raton early bird restaurant. We didn't need another drink, but we asked if we could just have desert and coffee, waitress said no, the kitchen also closed. (A) it was totally absurd for a restaurant to close at such childish hours, and (B) I should have been told when coming in that they had an early closing time and (C) even if the bar's absurd last call was 8:45, the fact they wouldn't even provide us with desert- obviously not free, but to say the kitchen was closed- was not only absurd but rude. As a native of New York City, and having dined in NY, Paris, Rome, etc., this was a micky mouse operation, and why Palm Springs cannot be called a real city- and while the chef was good, his platform is poor, and would only bump up the rating from 1 star to 2, because of the food, otherwise, service, attitude and hillbilly hours merit 1 star at best. Disappointment.
We had the salmon, the asparagus risotto and rustic bread (worth $3 extra charge), a signature grapefruit cocktail and an aperol spritzer. All were fantastic. Highly recommend. The restaurant was quiet, the wait staff attentive and food delicious. The decor is ... interesting ... but we had a nice corner booth and were very comfortable.
Spectacular service and food! Creative, quaint and charming atmosphere as well.
We visited Saturday July 6 following the holiday weekend. The food and service were very good. We expected it to be a bit more busy/lively. We sat outside because the dining room was so empty. We’ll most likely go back in season.
Food not as good as before. Cheesecake was very disappointing. Used to be real not like it is now. That was what
We always end our meal with. Food did not measure up
Good Food, Terrible Service. Our waitress was nonexistent most of the evening. Took forever to get anything. Drinks, main dinner selection. Busboys were attentive and helpful thank God. The main dish was ordered to be shared. It was put in the middle of the table, no additional dish or service setting. Really!!!
Terrific staff mixed with wonderful menu and a super vibe and view. The wait staff could not have been more attentive or more professional
I adore this restaurant. The atmosphere is delightful, the food excellent, and the service prompt. Rarely is it difficult to get a table at breakfast or lunch, which is the only meals I've eaten here. GO!
Purple Palm had delicious drinks and food. We are vegan and they were able to accommodate us. We weren't able to get an entree, but we ordered tons of side dishes and appetizers and they were perfect. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Food is outstanding, also excellent service and atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Beautiful location , within trendy hotel, Moroccan, Latin feel.
Eat outside if possible enjoying the lanterns in trees poolside .
Nice wine lists , overall menu is enough, service was pleasant , food tasty. Seared scallops (2) were delicious !
The food at the Purple Palm is always fantastic. Service is great; lots of excellent cocktail/beer/wine options. Some great dessert wines too! The dumplings are our favorite.
New chef since we last ate here. Food was exceptionable. Service was great! Can’t wait to dine here again.
All I can say is amazing!! The food, atmosphere is incredible. The Smoked Salmon Tartine is my favorite and I have it every time I am there.
Very lovely restaurant. The food was excellent. The server and busboy were very attentive. Loved the entire evening. I would recommend this restaurant very highly.
What a terrific place to enjoy a drink in a great part of Palm Springs. The Purple Palm is a beautiful restaurant in a lovely old-Hollywood style of hotel, and offers seating poolside and in a genuinely beautiful dining room, it absolutely feels like a destination and that it has a history. The cocktail list was just great, in the middle of June the house sangria cant be beat, as it has plenty of flavor without being waved down by the cloying sweetness of many sangrias. The drink list in general is pretty thoughtful and well priced. Our food was excellent, both the tuna and pork medallions cooked well and great quality, and the sides were just as tasty, not just a starch and vegetables plopped down next to the protien. The service on both occasions was very friendly and professional. One of the best places we have visited in our years of vacationing in Palm Springs.
Great restaurant- staff was friendly and atmosphere excellent. Celebrated a friends Bday, food and drink amazing.
Lovely setting and delicious food. The server and wait staff were friendly and professional, but friendly.
First time at this restaurant. Loved the Spanish Mission architecture and decor. Property has an interesting history. Will come back to try choices from their full menu. Private dining room ideal for a special occasion.
The service was outstanding. This was our favourite dining experience while in Palm Springs. The setting rides the line between fine and casual and the food was delicious. But it was the superb service and attention to detail that made it a standout. Order the crab app!
Oasis in the middle of Palm Springs - great, small menu - excellent service
Love this place.
Can’t wait to go back
Food ambiance and every single staff member was outstanding
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere.
One of the worst experiences what was (up till now) at one of my favorite restaurants in PS.
From the hostess who was not present when we arrived for our 8:30 reservation, to the table that was not available (“sorry it will be at least 20 minutes to seat you”) to the bartender who was indifferently over-serving the loud and drunken guests ( while ignoring us) to the waiter who greeted us with “the kitchen closes in 10 minutes”.
This is no way to run a restaurant.
The hotel also seriously needs to reconsider its policies towards hotel guests in pool attire and robes traversing the bar and restaurant during dinner service. Have some standards please.
No apologies offered or gesture made for the all around rude and surly behavior of the staff or hotel guests (who clearly disturbed everyone around us).
We should have left but it was already an 8:30 reservation in a town that stops serving at 9 (see kitchen closing comments above).
Awful and disappointing.
You have lost a fan and failed to make a new one.
I found the food to be overly rich and overwhelming, couldn't really finish anything as the flavor was too much. Quite unpleasant, wouldn't recommend for anyone who likes healthy fresh food.
