Continually recognized as one of the best places for seafood in Toronto, Pure Spirits is located in the Distillery District. Nearly one hundred years ago, when temperance societies and prohibition ruled America, it was from this very room that the whiskey barrels began their clandestine journeys across the lake and around the world. Today, while more refined spirits are served up, people come for the ambience and amazing food, particularly the fresh fish and oysters flown in from across North America and abroad... everyday!
Must try the trout with green beans and fingerling potatoes. That was a winner for me! The food is delicious.
Great food and environment to socialize and catch-up with friends.
Food was great!
We had a lovely experience here for our anniversary! We started with the seafood tower and then had the scallops and monkfish, and ended with the banana split. All the food was fantastic! And our server was so lovely and friendly. We would definitely come back especially for those west coast oysters - yum!!
Waiter flirted (kept winking at him) with my date making him uncomfortable.
Have been here many times and I've always enjoyed the menu. A bit on the pricey side perhaps, but the seafood was well-being prepared and staff are always friendly and accommodating.
we had a great time---great food and a good relaxing atmosphere...would for sure go again!
Awesome restaurant with delicious oysters and very friendly staff!
Food was served cold. Prices too high for value. Not sure I will return.
My annual birthday dinner. Oysters good as always. Lamb shank was to die for; chef allowed substitution of veg due to allergy to what was offered on the menu.
We were at Soulpepper theatre and went for after show dinner. Waiter was very pleasant and obliging. Food was excellent.
Servers were all over the place. No one knew who the server was for our table. Our drink orders weren’t taken until half an hour after we arrived. When we finally ordered our food, our server said the restaurant had run our of both dishes.
AmaZing oysters & service!
Good food with options for a variety of tastes. Relaxed and family friendly.
need to invest in some noise dampening - the reflected noise levels were deafening. A few strategically placed foams - and I'd be able to have a conversation with the person sitting 3 feet away from me.
Great overall experience. We also stumbled on all you can eat mussels so ended up having a great meal.
Had been previously and the food was good. Went back again recently -- still good, but a lot more crowded during the Christmas Market!
Lobster pasta had virtually no lobster! Burger was dry and tasteless. Calamari was terrible.
Never disappointed at Pure Spirits.
Service was spotty and produced two mistakes in three servings.
Oysters were delicious. Very nice environment. Great overall service
Great service and was able to get a booth. Thank you kindly.
Food was great, but unfortunately we sat next to a table with two young children, one of whom cried and had tantrums throughout our meal. With the prices one is paying and the fact that made a reservation and were trying to have a conversation, relax and celebrate with close friends we did not expect this. Maybe they should seat people with young kids in a special area. kind of took a shine off the evening.
I came with my Mother on December 4, 2019. Tons of school children outside, warm and cozy and comparatively quiet inside.
We were greeted immediately, seated the same. We had the 1-piece fish and chips, burger and fries, a Caesar cocktail and a 5oz glass of Malbec....our bill, with tax and tip was just over $90.
I find that a bit pricey, however, we are in the Distillery District in Toronto...so city prices are what they are. Our food was delicious, completely and utterly delicious. I would go again in a heartbeat.
Food was great and service was excellent !
We went on a Monday for unlimited mussels. The sauces were nice, but the best were the Thai and the chorizo. The other lacked flavour. Would be good to see different sauces being rotated around every month for some variation and perhaps would return. Good value.
Great birthday dinner. Food was excellent
As always, Pure Spirits was great. The oysters are the best in town and your chef is great.
This is my early Christmas present each year and never disappoints me.
Went for "Buck a Shuck Oyster" Tuesday and the oysters were fantastic! I had the Rainbow Trout for my entree and it was extremely delicious.
Amazing service on all you can eat mussels night.
Excellent food and ambiance. Our waitress was very kind and helpful. We will come back!
Friends in from out of town
Food was amazing. Atmosphere and staff were friendly and inviting. Spent time with some friends who came from Austin Texas and they absolutely loved it!
We have been coming to Pure Spirits for years and have always had an exceptional experience. It’s difficult to find places nowadays that you know can consistently deliver both great food and service. The cocktails are a must try. I had the opportunity to try some newer items, including the scallop appetizer and black cod, they did not disappoint! Be sure to top it off with a dessert.
The oysters were great as usual and such a good deal. Tuesday Buck a Shuck night is a pre-theatre favourite of ours. Mussels -traditional broth -not so good.
My wife and I have been to Pure Spirits several times for date night. Always a great experience especially if you’re a fan of oysters/muscles. This time was no different. Food was great as was the service and the fact it’s in The Distillery District is fantastic.
Friendly staff, good menu choices, nice decor. I wouldn’t recommend the centre row of tables...very exposed and constant traffic back and forth. Ask for a booth...quieter at the rear of the restaurant.
Really terrific food in a great room. Good service - we'll be back!
We ate a Pure Spirits in the Distillery District for our daughters convocation. Buck a Shuck oysters were outstanding and a great deal! Restaurant was overpriced but in line with a tourist restaurant destination. Wait staff and hostess were very good, courteous and professional! Portions of walleye (pickerel here in Canada) and monkfish were average to small portions, pasta dishes were plentiful. Meat entrees were overpriced. Cocktails way overpriced! Christmas Market had not started. Décor was nice urban vintage. Was an experience but won't return, not a tourist!
Awesome start to finish. Addison was the best
