Pure Indian Cooking
Owned by the husband and wife team of Faheem Vanoo and Shilpa Dandekar, both of whom started their careers with the famed Taj group in India, PURE Indian Cooking opened in 2015.
Since then, with Faheem managing front of house and Shilpa, who has worked with such masterchefs as the legendary Raymond Blanc OBE and Sriram Aylur of the Michelin starred Quilon, heading the kitchen, the restaurant has amassed a strong following as a refined as an exceedingly good local restaurant, with many clientele calling it a London “West End restaurant in Fulham!”
We would be delighted to see you at PURE Indian Cooking so please come and share in our warmth, fabulous food and drink and wonderful hospitality.
The food was amazing in its variety and delicious taste. Outstanding. Our only slight criticism is the one hour delay in serving even our first course, probably caused by the continuous delivery drivers collection of take away food.
Not your average Indian. Food was exquisite and definitely a good choice for those wanting Indian cuisine with a twist. Slightly pricey.
Amazing delicious food. A bit expensive but worth it. Minimalistic in terms of decor, unusually for an Indian. One of the best Indian restaurants in London.
Excellent Indian dining experience. A little bit different to your run of the mill place where the food was great and the welcome was good. I dined early, around 1800 when they opened as I was attending a music event locally and needed to be away by 1930 so restaurant not overly busy. Despite this I felt valued and timing was perfect. Will definitely return
Excellent food but the service was slower than I would have liked,
Outstanding Indian food as it should be. A million miles from Curry House generic Curry.
We will be back!
Extremely tasty food, with a friendly and attentive (but not over attentive) staff.
Amazing inventive food. Excellent service
The only misfit is the actual restaurant as has been said before many times. Needs a serious upgrade.
We will go again.
First visit was exceptional. Second visit food delivery was very slow (1hr) and starters delivered cold (should have been hot). We were sat near the front door which was constantly be allowed to bang loudly on closing. Disappointing experience.
I never leave reviews for anything but I just had to for this place. I had the achari broccoli and the chicken mongolese and it was exquisite. It’s now my new favourite Indian place. The value for money was brilliant and the staff were really attentive but not too attentive. Seriously, go to this place.
A new menu from this amazing contemporary Indian restaurant...wow! As a regular diner, I'm eating my way through it. Totally recommend all new dishes I've tried, not least the stonebass with mussels, mustard sauce and samphire pakora - for fish lovers like myself; it's a delight. Tamarind and Orange chicken is also delicious. The set lunch menu is still available with dishes of the standard you'd expect from Pure Indian Cooking. Go enjoy!
Very very good food! Highly recommend and would come again!
We had a lovely time. The food is outstanding with so much variety I have not seen in other Indian restaurants. The only downside was that the main dishes took a long time 40mins to arrive after the starters and the reason given was that as everything is fresh and they started cooking once the starters were eaten. I think if they could their timing right the experience would be lot better.
Superb food, friendly and chatty staff - a perfect evening 😊
A small casual indian Restaurant in Fulham, easy to overlook from the outside. A slightly creative kitchen. Amuse was a crispy ball like papadam, filled will vegetables in tamarind sauce. You fill it with mint sauce and put in your mouth in one piece. When you eat it the effect is that you have all flavours at once: Salty, sweet, bitter, umami, sour and hot Chili. Great! Every dish in the menu was tasting very good, especially the more traditional courses like Aloo gobi. The only thing I didn't enjoy too much was a bit of sweetness in every dish. Overall a very good menu.
The best Indian food I have had almost anywhere in the world. Very creative and interesting blend of flavors - an epicurean delight!
Probably the best Indian food I’ve had and comparable in quality to Benares but much less expensive. Still expensive relative to local curry house with bill £100 for 2 including wine. It feels worth it though as you leave having had really good food.
Best Indian food we had in London! Unique flavors, thoughtful service, very satisfying and hearty experience! Location is a bit out of the way but highly recommend for true Indian food lovers!
Great place as usual. This is our go to delivery Indian in the area. Dining in there are different dishes on the menu that would not travel well in a delivery like the chaat. Very good food and presentation and top service.
Good food and staff
Great flavours, a fine dining experience at amazing value, especially the £10.95 lunch time menu.
Definitely going back for the taster menu.
Exterior can be deceptive, really lovely inside.
This has been a particularly lucky find. It is impossible to find anything wrong with this unusual Indian restaurant, the food is deliciously creative, mixing foods and spices resulting in bursts of flavour where unexpected. Portion sizes are right for even the hungriest of appetite and what a treat you are indulged with. Service is just right, not over familiar, but I was recognised immediately upon my second visit and my preferences were remembered. Timing of courses is also just right.
If you haven’t visited this jewel of an Indian restaurant, I would recommend without hesitation.
A meal at Pure Indian Cooking is always a pleasure. The menu is inventive and the food delicious. They offer a range of levels of spicing and dishes from light to rich; so there is something for every taste and appetite. We particularly loved the spicy shrimp and fennel starter and the pistachio and coriander chicken curry this time.
Efficient, welcoming, attentive and helpful service.
Fantastic food - an opportunity to try some different dishes which were delicious. Highly recommend.
Normally live the food at Pure but on Sunday it was well below par . Perhaps an off day for the chef which I guess can happen
The service and food are all incredible. The staff are friendly and very helpful.
This is outstanding. If you are looking for a Chicken Bhuna or poppadoms for a starter look elsewhere. If you are looking for Indian food that is different, created by an imaginative chef and served by knowledgeable staff then this is for you.
So if you are looking for a bog standard Indian this isn't for you. If you are looking for a stunning food experience that happens to be Indian then you need to try Pure Indian.
Wonderful Indian restaurant with really delicious food and friendly, efficient staff. Usually get delivery but ate in and they have more choice. Highly recommend, booking advised!
Perfect food with amazing flavors and style. Always friendly service as well.
The magnificent Shilpa has added a number of new dishes to the menu - I thoroughly recommend the Tamarind and Orange Chicken. My friend and I groaned with delight when we first tasted it. Trust me, it's delicious. There's a new sauce to replace the tikka masala sauce with the King Prawns and while the previous one was my favourite, the new one is just as delicious. The scallops are also excellent. Can't wait to sample the rest of the new dishes and the Tasting Menu. Well worth a visit.
This was our second visit to this totally different Indian restaurant. All the food tastes freshly cooked and a couple of the starters were outstanding. The pulled lamb and the chaat (I cant remember the rest of its name)
From the outside you wouldn’t imagine that such great food would be presented inside. It’s a small local restaurant but with wonderful food.
Really great again we will be back ! The food & service was great.
The stand out meal of 2019. The most incredible flavours and combination dancing across the tongue in their own fashion and all beautifully presented.
This is cooking and passion at its finest, with a friendly, knowledgeable and professional front of house team to back it up.
So glad to have found this gem and we shall return many times when we are in London.
Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
Another delicious meal and so nice to be able to hear one another and have a decent conversation!
We had a wonderful night . Very good service and the food was exceptional . We will be going back .
Delicious original Indian cuisine. The staff were efficient, informative and delightful.
It is one of my favourite places in London with subtle and refined Indian cuisine at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it!
My new favourite restaurant 👍 attentive staff and wonderful food
We were recommended to Pure Indian by a friend who said she was sure we would like it. We were delighted with the excellent food and nice atmosphere. Highly recommended!
The server was lovely and the food was unique !
