Punch Bowl Social Portland Ratings and Reviews
Had such a wonderful time at punch bowl! Went here on a whim and did not want to leave! We ended up staying all night playing games and drinking the rio punch bowl (yummy yummy yummy) Sean was our server for dinner and he was just great! We were a little rowdy and silly and he was just fabulous! I would 100% recommend this place and can’t wait to go back!
Went for a birthday. Service was good but it took so long to get everything. 20 minutes for a drink and almost an hour for food. And it was a slow night. Food was bland. We had planned in playing games but didn't have time becaus of how long it took to get everything. Would not go back.
Our group of 8 started in the restaurant for dinner. The service was not great...drink orders weren't put in, food items forgotten and really slow. Half of us thought our food was fine, the other half were really disappointed. After dinner we moved over to the bar. We had much better service in the bar, and enjoyed all the different activities like shuffle board, corn hole, Jenga and darts. We tried bowling, but the lane kept malfunctioning. As a group, we all agreed that we might come back to the bar again, but definitely not the restaurant.
Went for Mother's Day but after looking at the special buffet opted for the regular breakfast menu. NOTHING about the experience was even remotely special. The thimble of "Mom"mosa was more an insult than a treat. We arrived in the middle of the advertised brunch but the buffet items looked old and un-appetizing so we opted for regular menu breakfast items instead. There are some great choices in concept, unfortunately they were all poorly executed. Not 1 of our 3 dishes was served hot. It wasn't overly crowded but the service (both food and drinks) was extremely slow.
Beyond our disappointment in the food, we had hoped to have some fun with the games in addition to brunch but only bowling available, 1 bean bag game was set up on top of the 1 shuffle board court. In addition the bar shuffle board table was occupied by a group who was using it for a cocktail table not playing. Portland has many nicer options for bowling.
Our waiter(Skyler) forgot twice about our drinks, then "forgot" that someone at our table ordered food?? Then brought have our drinks and said "oh, you ordered drinks too?" To the other half of our table and came back 15 min later with the other drinks. We had such bad service at dinner, we decided not to stick around for activities and ended up going somewhere else:-(
unfortunately, we were here on a night that had a private party booked. Call ahead as it seems they do this often. Not as much fun without bowling and video games. Fortunately, they had a big selection of board games. The kids were disappointed to not have access to all the fun, but enjoyed it more than the usual dinner spots. The host stand was not very friendly, but it was enormously outweighed by our really awesome server. Better than average bar fair and a great place to watch a game. The french onion dip was excellent.
Brought another couple to join my wife and me for dinner and games, our friends had never been there before...the entire game room was rented out for 3 hours for a private party. We called and made reservations a week in advance, it would have been nice to have been notified of that private party.
Not sure whether or not we will be back.
The restaurant servers and manager who helped us were all so kind and generous. Manager guy wore a multi-colorful plaid/checkered shirt, and the woman server a navy blue floral shirt; sorry I can't remember names!
The bowling shoes guy on shift didn't seem happy to be there and had poor eye contact and low patience with us who were new to the joint.
Was a sweet time over all, a quirky place with lots of options of what to do.
Second time going for an event. Had to send food back, which I Never do. Multiple games were broken including one that was broke during our previous visit months ago. This visit was for Valentines Day and the place was empty, yet service lacked and the easy accessible bar (while playing games) wasn't staffed. Overpriced for what it is. Feels like it had potential, however, its gone down hill since last visit.
They were sooo understaffed. I felt horrible for our server. We had a large party and there were several other large parties. Please provide more servers for Saturday nights! She did well for the workload she had but...it didn't cut it because she was set up for failure by management.
On the plus side: Excellent cocktails.
Food was decent, but not spectacular. Reasonably priced.
Service was terrible. Really really sub par. Food came late to the table, no coordination between the dining side and the "fun" side of the place. Located in a mall but do not validate parking, even for a party of 6. Save your money and the hassle, eat elsewhere and go to Ground Kontrol or other places for fun.
There was a private party on the evening of our visit so we could not use any of the amenities. We were basically kicked out from even looking at them.
We made our reservation on line and we're never informed that there would be a private event.
Food was only So-so, typical pub menu.
Will never go back.
Apparently we were not hip enough for here. The person that met us could not have care less. Sat us and tossed a folded menu at us. Said he would be back with waters. Never got the water. After 20 minutes of not seeing anyone we packed up and left. There may have been 20 people in the place. As we walked out the person who sat us said he hoped we had a good time. Clueless. Went to the Yard House in same area and got amazing service.
Yummy biscuits! And complimentary too! Lovely cocktails for a party of four. The adult milkshake was delicious but it was so thick you could not sip it through those two tiny straws they gave you and they did not have bigger ones (we asked). We ordered veggie appetizers - they were imaginative-- roasted cauliflower nachos were the best. But our special grilled cheese sandwich were disappointing. All in
all, I might try again for breakfast. Those biscuits were delicious!
I really appreciated the amazing staff there at Punchbowl in the food section. Matt was great as our waiter and they were great in being able to accomadate the 25+ that we had there on short notice. I also liked that the bar was avaliable to serve virgin drinks as that was great for my guests. The only thing I do not like is that you have to be 18+ to rent the karaoke room after 8:30 when your social is restricted access at 10pm. This makes no sense and is the only cause for complaint that I have. Also the grilled cheese was subpar. The pears were too thick and it didn't taste like a grilled cheese sandwich
This was our first time at Punch Bowl with another family. There were 8 of us total. We were super excited to go, their menu and atmosphere looked great! The drinks were terrible and food was not good. We sent back drinks and one order of food that did not come right. The rest of the food was just not good. The draft beer was the only part that was good. Service was ok, server was apologetic. We will not be returning EVER.
Great place to go bowling or to play evergreen console games. The high ceilings are very appealing and gives a sense of openness. The food choices are decent for meat lovers and vegetarians and the chef is willing to customize. The manager was quite friendly when we were there and did not mind the noise that our kids were making (although it was off-hour/lunch time). I would certainly go to this place again with my friends to unwind for a couple of hours.
My birthday was on a Monday which means free bowling, I went after 10pm so I could enjoy the place with adults. Drinks were great! It was so empty with a ton of space for my fiancé and I to enjoy each other. Lots of games around for everyone. Great experience, will go more often.
I didn't try the food and this rating want me to rate the food, so I can't say anything about that. Menu looks bomb though.
Not sure if the drinks got to me, but the restrooms were not marked clearly for the direction I was walking in. Walked into the M instead of W, kitchen crew tried to correct me before hand. In other words just pay attention and the whole staff is great.
There's a patio that's large by the rear bowling.
They do send home bartenders if the crowd is low so it was hard to find service on that night, but once they popped up they were friendly and fast.
