Great service provided by Alylilah
Great atmosphere and it would be a good place to get some drinks and hang. The food quality was poor and expensive, had the tacos and the meat was overcooked with stiff tortillas. The Mac and cheese had no favor. Probably won’t go there again for food, but would to grab some drinks and possibly the appetizers.
Food and service and atmosphere were very nice for this return trip, but I will never use the 'OpenTable service again. They sent a overly critical note to me telling me why a low life like me should never make a reservation that I had no intent on keeping. Trust me when I say the last thing I need is schooling on social etiquette from the 'mixed up' generation.
I was at my reservation appointment at the prescribed time, but, again, still received the condescending email saying I hadn't attended the restaurant and skipped out on my reservation. I complained in an email to Open Table the next day, and they blamed the mix up the restaurant (Punch Bowl Social). Typical.
I will never use OpenTable for a reservation (or anything else they provide), and I have put forth every effort to tell my friends and associates to stay away as well from this service.
Unfortunately, this leaves my experience at Punch Bowl Social tainted and the restaurant is relegated to a third or fourth selection when embarking on my next dining experience in the Detroit downtown area.
Service was slow-but he was a gem!
Drinks were expensive, small, watered down!
Took too long to get a second drink (a beer), was finished eating before it came.
Desser Order was wrong- sent back twice!
Latte was ice cold- sent back.
Bill was adjusted but not sure we’ll give them a second chance 🙁
Food was hit or miss - some dishes good, some not so good (absolutely recommend the green chorizo fries). Shuffleboard table was not level, almost unplayable. That said, the vibe was good and the drinks amazing. Thanks for having a nitro tap!
We wanted to eat and bowl. The food was okay but we were excited about the atmosphere and experience. We asked about bowling when we arrived and were told it was reserved. Online it says you cannot reserve bowling. We waited until the time they said we could bowl but we were told we still had to wait. At that time we decided to leave. Also, while waiting we did not have a staff member wait on us, we had to go up to the bar. This was a very disappointing experience.
The service and atmosphere was amazing! My boyfriend and I had a great time and will recommend this spot to our friends. I think we’ve found our new favorite spot!
The food was good but the service was terrible. The restaurant was incredibly slow.. it was a Sunday afternoon and there were maybe 10-12 tables full. After being seated, our waitress took almost 10 minutes to come to the table and take our drink order. After waiting almost another 10 minutes for our drinks to be brought to the table, we ordered our and got that quickly, but never saw our waitress again and had to ask for someone to get us more drinks. We wanted to order another round of drinks, but instead, the waitress just brought our checks without asking or ever clearing plates from our table. When we left, there were probably 6 tables full of dirty dishes (with no patrons sitting at them) and 5 staff members standing around at the front door chatting, but they couldnt bother to greet us. The food is worth it, as long as you dont mind terrible service.
Food was poor, chicken sandwich was very dry, fries were very hard and hollow, hamburger meat was good but the bun was very soggy. The humus was good , we found a sugar cube size piece of wood? Or something very hard in our Queso. Our fall punch bowl was really good. Service was very slow but at least very friendly. Wouldn’t return , too many other restaurants to pick from.
Unfortunately they we so understaffed before the Detroit Lions Game. Our waiter was a complete rockstar with what he was working with.
First, we couldn't get the prime rib sandwich because you guys ran out. My burger was made incorrectly and had to be remade. Then the bowling alley we got didn't keep score but we still had to pay full price. Then, the machines to get cards to play the games were not working so we were unable to play any games. I was frustrated that we couldn't pay to play, yet they would not let us play shuffleboard for free because of the inconvenience. Pretty crappy for my 40th birthday party. I will not be recommending you guys to anyone.
I loved it!!
Great place and service was amazing. Food and drinks were awesome.
A variety of food for all tases and dietary issues cool fun atmosphere and great service close to the Detroit Opera House within walking distance
Took my daughter and her friend here for her 14th birthday at 4 PM before the Luke Bryan concert. We had to wait about 45 minutes for a waitress to start our order. My daughter was bowling and waitress said she would get her order. She didn’t take her order with mine and twice when I asked she said she was too busy to do it.
It was great. Only disappointment was all of our fries were freezing cold
I had high hopes for this place; lots of friends have recommended it in the past however everyone in our party was extremely let down. On a Friday night the restaurant was out of ingredients for several of their cocktails and the soda was flat. Food was nothing exciting. The restrooms were dirty with peeling wallpaper. Not what we were expecting at all. On a more positive note, all of our servers and bartenders were friendly and upbeat.
Great space with an awesome drink menu, but the service was due to only one server in our section
We were there for Sunday lunch. My wife had chicken/waffles and I had the chicken sandwich. VERY large portions. Very tasty. Rosemary fries are addictive. Beware!
Atmosphere is very laid back. Kewl to watch youngsters bowl. Huge pool table. Need to get a set of snooker balls.
Good place to hang out or chill out
So made a reservation on open table for 10/11 Friday night. Apparently there was a private event which we didn’t know about so our reservation was cancelled. We did not find out until we showed up at 9pm for our reservation.
they ran out of food which in a large city is unacceptable and the replacement meal was extremely subpar. fantastic waiter though.
We have been many times for drinks but this was our first time making reservations for dining. Service was polite and we were seated reasonably lose to reservation time. However we were told when considering our order that the restaurant was OUT of fries all together (this was 6:00 on a Sunday game day but all the more reason to be prepared)
About 5 minutes after we ordered, our waitress returned to inform us that the kitchen would not accept any more tickets for another 20 min. Knowing we would likely be waiting at least an hour for food at best, we were forced to leave without eating as we had tickets at the Fox later on.
Extremely disappointed with the management of the kitchen and our overall experience
Servers were very nice, but the food took forever. Then when we got one meal the chili, it was refrigerator cold. My mom ordered a shrimp burger and after waiting an hour we were told they were out if it.
I would recommend Punch owl Social to a friend but tell them to eat before you go. The food is not good, the desserts look good but are not tasty and the drinks are not strong. The only thing good is the location and a venue that offers fun and games. Don't waste your money on food, eat somewhere else then go to play games.
The wait staff was rude and not very helpful. The waitress brought our food then never came back.
We started our day on the detroit peddle bar. When we got done our plans were to have dinner and enjoy the rest of our evening. The staff didnt like that our group had been drinking which is odd since the peddle bar is literally right outside the restaurant. They threatened to kick us out several times stating someone in our party was being rude to the staff but could not tell me who.
They didnt know how to handle a large group and are not welcome to the people coming off the peddle bar.
Food was cold, tasteless!!!! Barely any meat in the 3 tacos entree. Not worth wasting your time here for dinner, so many better options in the city.
Great service with an awesome selection on tap. Just an awesome place for a chill night out.
Poor service. Rude staff. Unclean business practices. We had reservations at 5:30 last night ahead of going on one of the peddle bars. We showed up at 5:15 and were told our table wasn’t ready yet. So we went to the bar to get a drink. We were about 10 feet away from the host stand. At about 5:40 we went to the host stand to inquire about our table and were told that they texted us and since we didn’t respond, they gave our table away. I showed my phone that I never received a text. So they said they were going to get another table ready. At 6pm we went to the host stand to ask if it was ready and he was super rude - giving us an attitude saying our table has been ready, but we didn’t come back to be taken to our table??!! We were standing RIGHT there by the host stand and he NEVER indicated it was ready. To top it off, the whole time we stood there, the host was using a handkerchief from his pocket to blow his nose or cough into it, repeatedly, and then go set tables without ever washing his hands! It was so disgusting! After finally being seated, we sat there for 10 minutes and never had a server greet us, so we left. Then they reported to open table that we were a no show. I will never come back to this place!
Excellent place, dinner followed by bowling, great food and great service. Raymond, our waiter, was the best waiter ever!!
We were greeted as if the hostesses were completely annoyed. Though we had 2 reservations, they WERE NOT trying to be accommodating to our large party but we were persistent. Took us about 20 minutes to be seated (when other large parties were seated immediately.) The only reason this place didnt get 1 star is because my shrimp tacos were awesome & the waitress was fast and accommodating. If I went back, it would be to order the shrimp tacos as a carryout.
They lost our reservation. We waited 20 minutes after we got seated before anyone greeted us and took our drink order. We waited 30 minutes for an appetizer, then another 45 for our entrees. No refills on our drinks, hardly saw our waitress. 2 hours for a meal, the only upside was the tacos were good.
the vibe is cool but the food is disgusting. if you go there only go for the drinks and the games. just make sure you eat before you go there ! also there’s not a lot of vegetarian/ vegan options
Took my teenage daughter and her best friend here for fried chicken and waffles on a Tuesday before a show. The queso and shrimp tacos were excellent. Our waitress was also attentive, but not overly so. Will definitely try it again!
I suggest you get better drink straws especially for the mike shakes!!!!
The Drinks were well made, staff was very attentive and happy hour was just that...happy hour. The crowd was diverse, and the appetizers were clutch. I will be back to bowl definitely!
Our waiter was absolutely lovely!! Ronald gave us great service and was so personable and easy to talk to! Definitely going back and asking for him to be out waiter! Food was excellent and the atmosphere was super fun!
As a place to hang out, probably. As a place for dinner, no. Took a long time. Food was just ok.
The waiter was very friendly. The food was disappointing.
I made a reservation for 5 on 8/8/19. The service was extremely slow and took so long just to get our drinks. We put in food and after an hour they brought out 2 of our meals and it was another 10 minutes before they brought out 2 more of our meals. It was another 20 minutes before they brought out the last meal which was a salad. I have worked in the food industry and for a salad to take an hour and a half to make is completely unacceptable. Especially since the rest of us waited for our last guest to get her meal to eat our now cold meals. The server was not helpful at all and seemed to be in way over her head. I would not go out of my way to go there again.
We were told we could sit anywhere and not just the area for reservations, then we had to move from where we selected because they closed the section and then I got an Open Table email asking why I didn't show up for our reservation. They didn't have Sauvignon Blanc at all - but I had to wait 20 minutes to find that out (after others were served) and my meal also came out ten minutes after the other three were served. Food was pretty good though. The server had a lot of personality and was almost able to overcome the experience.
