It was my birthday and there was these loud and obnoxious behind us. They acted if they own the place. There's two areas one where you sit down and have dinner and another where you sit at bar area... ugh these guys couldn't shut up.

We loved the queso with mushrooms, the tuna to staffs and the shrimp and fish tacos. Drinks were also delicious.

First of all, I would like to point out that my friends and I were very excited about this place. The decor is nice. Too low lighted to my taste.
The food was okay. Not great. I've tried better Mexican and being a Mexican myself, trust me it was just okay.
Drinks, the 3 kind we tried which basically was the reason why we decided to go there was for the Pulque. My husband and friends who aren't from Mexico have never tried it and I wanted them to. We asked about just having the Pulque by itself but they don't serve it solo. Which is fine. So we decided to have the Lychee cocktail which according to the menu, has some Pulque on it. Well..it did not taste like Lychee or Pulque. It tasted like pure sugar with vodka..not Mezcal as it was on the menu. Vodka. So we decided to have another Pulque drink. Terrible idea. The tequila used in the drink was of the lowest quality and whoever designed the menu and liked it..should be having daiky

The food is delicious but the service is lacking.

Hidden gem in China town. The cocktails and food were amazing. Absolutely order the tacos, they were delicious and fresh. The atmosphere is unbeatable; very trendy and buzzing crowd. They also have a very happening happy hour in the bar area.

The fancy feel and high end cost of Mexican food located at surrounding relatively cheap Chinese food in Chinatown

The service was good! Everyone looked happy and smiles since we walked in. We had a great time. City prices of course and food portions were small but they were just enough for my husband and i. I would recommend this place for a night out or just to sit by the bar and enjoy a delicious drink. We will back soon!

The food portions are tiny and exorbitantly expensive. You'd need to order two plates just to feel semi-full. In addition, the service is so-so.

Do not order margaritas here and you'll be fine.

The food was excellent, although the tacos were kind of sparse. The drinks, soup, and the appetizers were amazing. In Mexico, pulque is the poor man's drink, but Pulqueria brings it to a whole new level. Our waiter was personable and fun. I love that it's a Mexican restaurant in the basement of Chinatown.

The food was good and the drinks were great. Definitely recommend anyone looking to check out some Mexican food in the city.

Recommendations I gave were based on how I anticipate it would be at 10:00 PM and later rather then at opening when we were the only customers. (No complaint, it made it even more personal and special.) First you have to find it but since you've decided to eat Mexican in Chinatown I am guessing you're up to it. Got to drink Pulque for the first time and had an incredible huitalacoche quesadilla that was off menu. Five salsa appetizer was wonderful and the we were treated like friends. Only disappointment was the sister cocktail bar next door was closed until later in the evening for a private party, but then we have a reason for returning sooner.

Where to go for great Mexican food and drinks?
Down the stairs to a basement in Chinatown... that's where.
Pulqueria is in a place you could only find find if you knew where to look...but the vibe, the food and the drinks make it definitely worth the trip.

Food was cold and the drinks were 90% ice. Also was doubled charged and when my friend tried to get in touch with a manager it was impossible.

I've been here a few times over the past few years. It's a classic speakeasy, trendy restuarant plus bar. I believe I've only been in the spring/summer. This visit they had no heating system, middle of winter, we were all freezing. What's up with that ?

I loved pulqueria and returned because my fiancé had never been, is not a New Yorker and wanted Mexican while we were staying in Soho. I thought I have just the place! Unfortunately, it was our only night in town and the only dinner we had in Manhattan was terrible! Not ok...terrible! The drinks which were also amazing in the past, undrinkable. The only cool thing remaining about the place is the underground vibe it has. So sad one of my favorites is no longer even worth visiting.

I used to enjoy going to Pulqueria as a special find to take someone from out of town or as a unique NY hidden gem in a different neighborhood. This last visit was the final straw in a string of visit with less than satisfactory service. On top of the fact that they could not find my reservation even though they had called to confirm not hours before. The server was slow, disappeared, could not remember things, and didn't even know the specials including sounding surprised that there was such a thing when asked about the margarita of the day. There were maybe 20 people in the return side, so service should have been amazing and attentative instead we got better attention and service from the bus women than our actual server. Food was okay, not great, but service just made me not want to return. Sad since it used to be a fun little place to take a group of people.

This was a great find. Food was delicious. Fresh, fragrant and perfect sized portions. The staff were really friendly and the setting was very atmospheric. It is darkly lit, almost hard to read the menu but this only added to the experience. Very good menu plenty of choice and drinks options are good too. Lovely bar for pre or post drinks, hit it at happy hour and enjoy a Margureita or four. The restaurant is difficult to find, literally a doorway on Doyers St, but don't give up, worth finding.

This is one hidden gem in China Town everyone must check out! Its somewhat hidden so you really have to know where you are going but it is definitely worth it in every way. The staff is super sweet and friendly which is a total turn on when you are spending money on a night out. the waiter was great and had excellent recommendations for food and beverages. The food was on point and the prices were very reasonable. overall i would highly recommend this restaurant.

The hostess was what put a damper on our night. Lacking in greeting / customer service skills she really killed any excitement for dining at Pulqueria. We've been several times, and were introducing some friends to the spot. As far as taco joints go, this spot has decent food, but is over priced for the quality and quantity. However, it's the ambiance that makes it a fun place to dine. Pulqueria used to be better, the food was priced appropriately and the service matched the venue. Hopefully they up their game again.

The food was good, then menu varied and the price was right, but it was so dark I couldn't see what I was eating. Ambiance is great, but I do like to see what I am eating.

Great food, great service but a bit too loud.

Get ready for a stomackhache and a headache. The waitresses where trained at McDonalds but forgot to smile. The music compilations is a 100 club mixes for 99c. The food over spicy so the fish and the chicken taste just alike. If you want to go, just don't go.

This place was awesome. It is like a hidden gem in Chinatown. First of all it is not an area (I'm talking near the bar, where we requested to be seated) where they jam in tables to force as many patrons as possible. It was spacious and had a very relaxed atmosphere.
We had drinks at that bar before dining and had a charming bartender that made great suggestions. The hostess honored our request to have a table for dinner in the bar area.
The food was AMAZING and the service was good. The bar did eventually fill up...it got hopping in our area around 11pm and we shifted tables and decided to stay for more drinks and had a great time.

there were - wait - count them - four small tables - and while we were not placed on top of each other - we were placed under a speaker that was blaring nice - but loud music - making it impossible to hear each other - and after asking for and hearing the music go lower - but then raising the volume again - we were told there was nothing they could do - so we asked them to move us - and they reluctantly accommodated us - in what was basically an almost empty dining room

this restaurant is really fun - just from the food, the decor - there's no need to ear blast the people trying to enjoy the delicious food - as if the volume is set to cover something else up - we've been there on the weekend and the staff is much much more attentive and more interested in the customers - - - very unfortunate

The Pulque is delicious. The portions are small but rich. Bring your friends.

Stylish decor and stellar food make this a standout amongst the many incredible dining offerings in the city. Love the odd location and confusing entrance - lend an air of a secret mysterious club. Tacos were delicious, especially the shrimp, pork and fish, the ceviche had a bright freshness, guacamole was plentiful, chunky and we'll seasoned. Only complaint, my drink (the Garden G&T) was tasty but bery light on alcohol content. Would return here in a second!

Pulqueria decent cocktails and that is about it. If you need to eat, get the gringa tacos.

I was looking for somewhere to have dinner close to our hotel and couldn't have chosen a better place. The staff were fun, friendly and welcoming and the food and drinks were fantastic. It is a little difficult to find butwell worth the effort!!

Great setting. Waitstaff was all smiles and fast with orders. Ceviche was really fresh and delicious .

Best taco spot in NYC hands down. And their cucumber jalapeño margs are insane.

Food was pretty good but it was so loud and we were 6 people and we couldn't really talk to each other. The waiter was also not attentive at all and we only managed to order one round of drinks as he never came back to take our other orders

It's a little loud and dark in here so both times I went, there were times where the waiter could not understand our order or didn't hear parts of it. We would wait for our food to come and eventually ask, only to find out that we never "ordered" it. Otherwise, the food and drinks are quite tasty. Been twice now, but don't necessarily feel the need to go back.
