Pueo’s Osteria, located in Waikoloa Village, is an Italian-inspired, inviting restaurant that provides great food in a delightful environment. The Chef focuses on the finest Italian products paired with seafood, produce and meats from boutique farms (sourced locally whenever possible), including “farm-fresh” products from local farmers’ markets.
The Pueo is a local, indigenous owl which represents the Chef"s focus on dinner and serving food until midnight. Pueo's Osteria caters to locals, visitors and serves late to welcome service industry personnel. Engaging service, approachable pricing, great flavors and a lively atmosphere await at Pueo’s Osteria – food, wine & fun … where the night owls meet.
We've eaten here on a prior trip and were looking forward to another great meal. Unfortunately, the food was just okay and service was indifferent. Will probably go back just to see which version of the restaurant wins out in the ratings.
Although the food is good the wait time to get the food is almost an hour
Ate at Pueo's our last night on the Big Island. Service was amazing and food was excellent. I highly recommend taking the beautiful drive up Hwy 19 to enjoy their offerings. We will definitely be back.
Food and service were great. Would recommend for a great meal and experience in a laid back atmosphere.
we enjoy visiting Pueo's when we can. however the other night there was one server helping all the tables. it was extremely slow service , our bread service came after our dinners. that being said, the waiter remained composed, friendly and worked hard. he did a great job. just help him out!!
The most amazing Italian cuisine! Better than homemade!!
It was wonderful!
Everything was excellent the only issue I have was the wait in between our meals. But over all definite must try and worth every penny
Typical great food experience.
What a gem!! This place was outstanding. The food authentic, fresh ingredients and the staff exceptional. So glad we found this restaurant, I know we will return multiple times before leaving.
Best spaghetti I have ever had. Highly recommend if you love Italian food.
Great place to get off the resorts and get higher into the mountains. Food was great and considering other options a decent value given the quality.
The most amazing artichokes ever! The pasta is truly outstanding. Always a favorite stop while on the big island!
Been going to Pueo’s for years now. What fantastic Italian food! Homemade & fresh everyday. Want a great meal, you gotta go...
This was our third time in a week. The food was outstanding. The staff was outstandingly. Loved it. Very fresh. Very good. Highly recommend
Always very good. Thanks
Amazing! Favorite restaurant on the island! Repeat diners.
What a great addition to the Waikoloa area! Their terrific online reviews were borne out our recent visit on a Friday when they were slammed with customers. With reservations we had only a short wait. We started with a terrific combination of Bruschetta and their Baratta Caprese & pesto salad with farm fresh tomatoes. Wines by the glass were reasonably priced. Pizzas looked wonderful at others' tables. Very Italian. We choses the entrees of Cannelloni and Veal Marsala smothered with hamakua and cremini mushrooms in a first rate marsala sauce. Both were excellent. The place was bustling with an excellent waitstaff and guests obviously enjoying their meals and the atmosphere. The bar has several flat screens with sporting events but it did not take away from the feel of a real Italian Osteria. Well done staff and we'll be back on each future visit!
The service was slow.
Real slow. The food was a enrage at best. Disappointed
Food was outstanding. We visit every year when in Hawaii
Food was good, but waiter (1 for whole place) was overloaded. Wanted a second glass of
Wine and dessert, but wasn’t even asked.
Always a good dining experience.
Excellent pasta made in house. Worth short drive from the expensive beach resorts
Loved the homemade pizza!
This is high quality Italian food. The Wild Boar pasta is just terrific. Service is good, the staff is friendly and accommodating.
Outstanding service and great quality food. We love to eat at this restaurant. This restaurant is consistent with its had great service and quality tasteful dishes. We truly enjoy eating here!
The eggplant parm and veil Marsala were fantastic l! Service was great, she new the wine list well and we loved her recommendation! Always a great experience!
We like this restaurant, and returned on our first night back to the Big Island. Our hostess and server were outstanding. Drinks and wine came promptly, and were delicious, as was our al a carte salad. Unfortunately, it took about 75-90 additional minutes for our entrees to arrive, 2 at the first drop, 1 more within a few minutes, and more than 10 minutes for my wife’s meal. As we politely waited, my wife insisted that we start eating, otherwise they would have been cold. When her meal finally arrived, the pappardelle was rubbery and inedible. The management was gracious enough to reduce the cost of her meal.
Always a favorite of ours for great Itallian food. Courtney has served us several times and she is awesome!
Service was terrible. Didn’t get our food after an hour and a half wait. Ended up leaving since our food ever arrived. Tables around us were experiencing the same issue.
We had very poor service. While seated right away it took awhile to get our drinks. Had to ask about them. Took awhile to get food. The food was good. But then waited and waited for our check. The waiter never checked back to see how we were doing. I had to ask someone for our check finally. Got tired of waiting. Too bad as this was our only night to eat out on the island.
Not really worth an evening.
So-so food and extremely slow service. My partner ordered the pappardelle with wild boar. Pasta was good but the meat and sauce were more like beef short ribs. My pollo alla Milanese had a watery, tasteless sauce. Capers, which really would have added a richer flavor were sprinkled on top as an afterthought. The service was nonexistent, we finally got up and chased a server down so we could pay our bill. IMO, there are lots of restaurants in the area with better food and service.
This was one of the better Italian eating experience as my wife and I have had. We started with the brussels sprouts dish which was excellent. My wife, being a basic pasta lover, ordered the chicken fettuccine Alfredo and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the lemon chicken dish which was two chicken breast battered and sautéed in a lemon butter sauce. It was recommended to me by the waitress and was excellent. Our server was attentive and the food was great.
After a round of golf at the Waikaloa Golf Course, we were looking for a nearby place to have dinner.
Pueo’s was highly recommended so we decided to give it a try. 5 Stars! The food was great - service was great. Freshly made, in-house pasta....need I say more? We had dinner there again two days later ....will definitely go there again on my next visit to Kona!
Food was delicious. The best gnocchi I've ever had. We weren't expecting much - will definitely come back if we're in Waikoloa.
A wonderful local place. Friendly staff. Excellent food.
We had great service and the food was excellent. I had the gnocchi, best I’ve had. Husband had wild boar with pasta. All pasta is made in house and very good. If they have mushroom soup, try it!! Will definitely go back!
