Pucquio Ratings and Reviews
We had a pre-show dinner. It was our first time at Pucquio and we couldn't have been more delighted. Carlos is magical with what he does with food. Beautiful presentation, creative twists, and most of all, flavors leaving us wanting to lick our plates! Traveling from Marin is well worth the drive. We'll be back!
The chef creates amazing creative dishes that feature fresh ingredients that are sourced locally. Carlos takes his ceviche creations to a whole new level, presenting each dish like an artist painting a masterpiece. His combination of flavors depicts his keen sense of taste and balance. The wine list, though limited, features wines selected to accompany the current dishes offered and, like the menu, will change with availability. House made sangria sells out daily. The atmosphere is cozy and sitting at the bar allows one to watch the chef creates his master pieces. A memorable experience always.
Fabulous meal, with vibrant flavors and first rate ingredients. We enjoyed (and that's putting it mildly) 2 different ceviche: Minto and one of the tiraditos, followed by the pork shoulder and the tacu tacu. Be prepared for lots of fresh acidic citrus, saltiness and flavor bombs all around. Plus a really interesting small, varied wine list. (Go for a gavi with the tacu tacu!) First class, really engaging service and masterful cooking... cannot go wrong. Pucquio goes into the rotation list for us.
This was my pick for our monthly girls' night and we were not disappointed. Food takes awhile as it is a small kitchen, but the wait was worthwhile and it was perfect for us girls to update each other on our lives. Ceviche was good. My only complaint would be that I wish they had more options without soy. I loved that they put the juices in a shot glass afterward for us to enjoy -- it's a must when you have ceviche! The chicken stew and fried plantains were good. My favorite, however, was the dessert -- Bombitas de Carretilla! So good :) I plan on taking my husband here next time and trying the whole fish. I saw the table next to us having it and it looked delicious.
We had not heard of this restaurant until it turned up on a search for "college ave restaurants." I looked at the menu and reviews and decided to check it out. We were very pleasantly surprised. Specializing in Peruvian food, Pucquio has wonderful cebiches! The fish are fresh and the preparations delicious, artfully presented, and expertly balanced. The quinoa salad with beets was lovely to behold, and the dressing very tasty, but the quinoa itself was served in a block. The young man who served us was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable and generally enhanced the dining experience. Go for the fish!
What a great meal! The food was balanced, flavorful and portioned just right. The Special Ceviche was wonderful and fresh, the mains were delicious and we had just enough room for dessert. The staff were friendly, attentive and professional. I'm looking forward to our next visit.
Really enjoyed the ceviche choices. Presentation was excellent and the food flavorful and interesting. Service was friendly. the restaurant is small, so tables are close which makes conversation slightly challenging, but this is the case for most restaurants. The ambiance is very pleasant.
The BEST Peruvian food in all of the SF Bay Area. Dishes are all individually prepared and so beautiful and delicious. Restaurant is small with an open kitchen and the chef/owner is preparing each dish so come here to enjoy the company of those you are with and not for a rushed meal.
Absolutely will be back!
This place is my new neighborhood D avorite. Amazing Peruvian food with a California twist, incorporating local fresh market veggies and seafood. So authentic, delicious, without being stuffy. We sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen which was the best thing to do to watch and chat with the chef. He and the waiter were super knowledgeable and excited to share about every detail and menu choice. Such a gem. HIGHLY recommended. The ceviche was to die for.
This was the first time we tried Pucquio and it was delicious! We had eaten at another Peruvian restaurant in the east bay and the food here is much better. The Cebiches were amazing. We shared two amongst four of us and I wish we had ordered more so I didn't have to share!
We had three other main courses and all of them were made to order and outstanding. It was not a busy night, so we could take our time. The restaurant is quite small and the decor is fairly simple, but the staff was super nice and knowledgable.
