Everything was great! It would have been better with more non-alcoholic beverage choices!
Wonderful! Thank you for another delicious visit! See you soon!
Great little spot with fresh menu and friendly staff. Fun to watch cooking in process behind the small counter. Half a dozen close tables added some fun cross-table talk.
Excellent— one word says it all—- worth the expense
I thoroughly enjoy the food and the service. I have gone 3 times in order to introduce friends to this neighborhood restaurant.
The restaurant itself was charming and comfortable. The wait staff were all cordial and professional and helpful. But the most amazing part of the dining experience was the food itself which was super delicious! I would recommend it to any and all of my friends!!
This is a gem of a restaurant. I visit the area once a year and never miss the opportunity to eat here.
Outstanding food and great service. Celebrated my husband's birthday at Pucquio, but it really felt like we were celebrating at a friend's home. Incredibly friendly, Carlos cooked us the best Peruvian food I have tried in Bay.
Amazing food and drinks. Friendly and cozy atmosphere. Suitable for a business meal, any special occasions or when you feel like having good quality food.
Ceviche does not get any better than this – anywhere. Fresh salmon that was literally swimming the day before Carlos made a delectable ceviche out of it. Best Peruvian food outside of Peru.
I went with my wife for dinner I hear about Pucquio about 6 month ago so we went to check it up
I was amaze about flavor and ceviche
food was excellent el tiradito and pork chicharron lomo salteado
Everything was amazing, but the ceviche especially gets top marks! I will definitely be back.
A hidden gem. Sit at the counter; watch Carlos create. Low key spot that surprises. Pair a unique ceviche a gorgeous glass of wine and enjoy.
What a wonderful discovery Pucquio was! The two chefs, busy in the small open kitchen behind the counter, take great care with every dish. The flavors were unique. I've been to Peru, and Pucquio ranks up there with the best. All the dishes we had were excellent. My personal favorite was Aji de Gallina. We were quite full when it came time for dessert, but not wanting to miss that course, we ordered a scoop of their housemade ice cream and shared it among the three of us. I'm glad we were not deterred by the unfamiliarity of the flavor: a tropical fruit called "mameh" that was described as being "fleshy" and like an "avocado." The texture was creamy and the taste quite subtle, with hints of vanilla and chocolate. We loved it. So, my recommendation is: be daring! Our server was very helpful in describing the dishes, but don't be put off just because you may not be able to identify the name of a particular ingredient.
Do keep in mind that this is not an inexpensive restaurant, yet the price seems commensurate with the level of creativity and care that goes into the preparation of the food.
Carlos is an artist and always dishes up something fabulous and delicious. We love it!
It is reasonably priced and the Ceviche is fantastic.
Great place! The food was outstanding and the service was amazing as well! Will go back for sure!
Pucquio is just an amazing food experience. I truly could eat here every day and feel good about it. Thumbs up to Carlos and his team who put on a great service and are all just thoroughly wonderful and hard-working people. If you've never eaten here you're missing out. Book the chefs counter for the best experience.
Fabulous food, really warm service. The restaurant is very small and reservations are a must. Nice wine selection and they will pour tastes if you are unfamiliar with the wines. Best cerbiche I have ever tasted. We loved it.
The food is good, but several things made the whole experience disappointing. "The waitress first tried to seat us at the same table another party was partly occupying; only when we strongly objected she consulted the chef (?), and then moved another table for four apart into two smaller ones so as to seat us, as she should have without urging, at our own table. Then I ordered their most expensive dish, one with fried fish and other seafood, and was told they were not serving it, so I had to order a second choice, not what I really wanted.
The food was excellent and a welcome change---very adventurous, and a great introduction to Peruvian cuisine. I'd like to thank the server for accommodating an extra in our party, even though it caused her some inconvenience. Overall I would recommend highly.
This is one of the best restaurants, of any kind, in the Bay Area.
Great food! Carlos took great care of us. We let him design our dinner and the meal he built for us was excellent.
You have to go. The food. Amazing. The ambiance. Amazing. The staff. Amazing.
My partner and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. We were given the option of sitting at a table or at the bar with a view of the kitchen. We chose the latter, and were so happy we did. The owner, and chef Carlos was so personable. He gave great recommendations and was, along with the rest of the staff, fun to watch.
We ordered a tuna cebiche, which was fresh, yet decadent. The addition of avocado added richness and the radish added the needed crunchy texture.
The pulpito appetizer was delicious, and the taste was an interesting mix of (sea) salty and smoky. The pulpito was cooked to perfection.
We shared the main - the visually stunning CHITA FRITA CON PICANTE DE MARISCOS. It tasted as good as it looked. Apart from the flaky, moist fried fish, the mussels, clams, shrimp heads (my Asian side was screaming with excitement), shrimp and baby octopus felt reminiscent of a Peruvian cioppino. Our main was definitely the star.
We paired our dinner with the white wine sangria, which featured passion fruit, pineapple, apple and blackberries. It was a great accompaniment to all the seafood.
Since we made a reservation and listed that it was for our anniversary, my partner and I were both given a complimentary dessert of a dulce de lece and sweet potato stuffed beignet and strawberry sorbet swimming in champagne. We ALWAYS save room for dessert, and were so grateful for this both refreshing and decadent end to our meal.
I definitely recommend making a reservation as this is not the kind of place that feeds you quickly and tries to kick you out ASAP for quick table turnaround. We were there for two hours and enjoyed every minute. We’ll be back again - we’re already planning to go back and just order every cebiche on the menu as our meal.
Simply fabulous. Never disappoints.
Amazing food and service! Carlos (owner, chef and server) loves what he does and he made our experience so personable. My husband saw him do a little happy dance when we were gushing over the food!
Server didn’t come to the table until we waved her after 20 mins. We got no food until 45 mins. Kitchen was distracted by catering an event across the road from the restaurant. “Bistek”was well done steak (they didn’t ask for how it should be prepared). Tough, no special seasoning. $25 corkage? We came dressed up and positive and left feeling disappointed and ignored.
I had been here before and had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately this time the place was much more crowded, to be expected on a Friday evening. However service was super slow. We waited for over an hour just to get drinks, and when food started coming out we were a bit less than impressed. Perhaps our appetites had disappeared in the time that we had waited.
Wanted to adore this place, but it's tiny and so a little noisy. And I'm also not a shee-shee foodie type, so I'd rather have a real salad as opposed to a small square of quinoa and 12 tiny beets on the plate with a few microgreens. Very artful, but not really filling. The food tastes yummy, but we only had 2 dishes so I need to go back and try again. The chicken stew was yummy, but seemed like it was mostly rice. I'll try it again, because I'd like to try other dishes that might feel more hearty -- lomo soltado looked good at the next table. The service was excellent.
Very very tasty Peruvian dishes, concise and interesting wine list, friendly family-run spot.
The ceviche is second to none. Chef Carlos is a genius
Had a great meal - we had to wait a little while for the server to come take our order (tiny restaurant, one server who was also a chef), but once he got to us, the service was great. He let us taste wines, brought our food out pretty quickly and answered all of our questions. Food was delicious - fish was extremely fresh and the flavors were great. Would definitely go back.
Outstanding food and service. A dining experience with close attention from the restaurateur. We were a party of five and as such the owner asked our dietary preferences and hunger level and picked a menu for the table, which was served family style. Not inexpensive but a very memorable evening.
We have twin preschoolers, and whenever we have a date night, Pucquio is one of our favorite spots to dine. If you love cebiche (ceviche) as we do, or just enjoy fresh seafood, please visit this restaurant! The husband/wife team have created a warm and welcoming environment in this small setting. We linger over our glass of wine or sangria as we enjoy each cebiche dish one after the other. The ingredients are fresh and simple, but prepared beautifully. We often choose 4-5 cebiches and the chicharon, while sitting at a table. But, next time we'll sit at the bar to watch the chef, and explore the second courses. We're always recommending this place to friends and family.
Awesome experience! The most authentic Peruvian food in the Bay Area! Fantastic ambience and customer service!
Outstanding in every possible way! The service was particularly helpful and attentive. Everyone should try this place.
Very good food but overpriced; this is as expensive as La Mar in San Francisco (Peruvian restaurant on prime real estate on the water with excellent food). I would consider coming back if prices came down ~20-25%.
I never write reviews but I am compelled to post because the prices for the food at this restaurant were so obscene! You can go to several other Peruvian restaurants in the area and get much better quality for half of the price. Food wasn’t all bad, but wasn’t great. Below average. I will say the ceviche was good. The service was poor as well. I was very disappointed :(
Anything I have eaten there are high quality, but I wish their prices were a few bucks lower, so I could go there more often.
We had four different main courses which all were top notch in flavor, presentation and individually unique. A meratage of flyovers, all well balanced.
Same goes for the salad
I like that i’s a small place, thus having things under control.
Very good service.
Food is fresh and local!
For sure will go back.
