All five diners at our table were happy with the variety of menu choices, and the quantity and quality of the food. (The bread basket was especially popular.) The fire in the fireplace was welcoming. Our server Janet was attentive and informative. Overall a very pleasant dining experience!

A great place to meet old friends. Easy to get to from the highway. Food is good and services is fantastic.

Nobody rushed us. We had plenty of time to talk, eat, and be merry.

The Publick House is one of our favorite restaurants to meet special friends. The atmosphere is cozy, food is always phenomenal and you get more than your money's worth. The bakery tops it off. Would highly recommend this~!

The restaurant is not handicap accessible. The restaurant is a very old inn, that has been added on and added on and then added on again. There is handicap parking out front but your person still has to climb 5 steep steps to the interior. To get from the back parking to the restaurant, you have to wander of maze of hallways. The waitress had to travel between the bar and the restaurant for drinks which required long absences for the beverages. My nephew's cup of coffee had a wine cork in it (yuck) and my water glass was stuck to the table (very sticky surface). The food was average but I think people come to the location for the historic environment. I would recommend that the restaurant staff be trained to welcome the guests to the Publick House, ask if they have been to the restaurant before and would they be interested in hearing the history of the House. The staff should be fluent in old town Sturbridge history including any significant guests that stay in the Inn, any battles, claims to fame. There is a beautiful resource in the Publick House and they should maximize the attraction. The owners should put some time into scrubbing and finishing table surfaces and having a keen eye for cleanliness. The water glasses, which were empty when we arrived, did not appear clean, maybe someone with greasy fingers set the table. Again, this restaurant could be an amazing and cozy experience but right now it needs some attention and TLC.

Food quality was not that good. Although the waitress was very pleasant it did not make up for the food. The scallop dish was mediocre, the crab cake was cold with an unimpressive taste. The other dishes were so-so. I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends.

This is an historic inn from the 18th century and a stone's throw from Sturbridge Village. Their specialty is turkey dinner which is served every day. However, they also have great seafood and a gastro menu that is extensive. They have kept the dining rooms and bar in the fashion of 1780 and also have rooms available.
We had our family Christmas get together here this year and April, our waitress, made it a very special occasion.

We had a reservation on a Wednesday for 5:45, arrived and was seated on time, but waited for 20 minutes before anyone took our drink order, waited another 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive. We ordered when the drinks arrived and it was another 45 minutes before our meals arrived. Excuse for bad service was they were crowded and our waiter had many tables to cover including a group of 11 in another room. I understand it is a week before Christmas and lots of people are out but it's managements responsibility to plan the staff levels properly so everyone is treated fairly. Meals were very good as usual and I would expect not to have this poor service next time we come to the Public House.

Another wonderful time with close friends in the Dining Room of the Publick House. Seated near the large open hearth fireplace, with traditional Christmas decor to appreciate, we were so happy to enjoy a variety of splendid meals and beverages with our attentive server, Cameron, in a full room of festive diners.

The food was good. The atmosphere was fabulous. The service was so slow. We waited for about 15 minutes before our waitress even got to the table. We had plans and we were late. 2 1/2 hours for dinner was a bit too long for the kids.

We originally had reservations for 8:30 but could not make it until 8:45. We were told the dining room closes at 9:00 and our reservations would be moved to the Ebeneezer Tavern. We were familiar with the tavern and did not mind. Two people in my party had salads and the third had a fish sandwich which he said was fine. I had a chicken pot pie which was served luke warm and had to return for heating and was still not that hot when returned. Our waiter was very apologetic and said he did not have much faith in the cook.

We have had many pleasant experiences at the Public House but this wasn't one of them.

Our server , Cameron, went above and beyond the call of duty. He noticed that one of the turkey dinners had a very small portion of dark meat. half dark & half white was ordered.
He brought to our table an additional serving of dark meat turkey. He was very polite and accommodating.

We loved the Publick House. Great food and better atmosphere. Our waitress, Shirley was terrific! We were meeting with old friends we don't see often. The meal was relaxed and pace allowed good conversation right in front of the fire place.
Will definitely be back.

The service at the Publick House was exceptional. The staff made us feel welcome and made sure we had some privacy for our mini baby shower.
The food was good - especially the bread basket and the desserts!
Guests at the lunch traveled from NY, NJ, CT and MA. All would do it again.

We took friends who live about a half hour away and who had never been to the Publick House. It was a big hit! The main dining room is lovely, but could benefit from a few dimmer switches (a personal hangup of mine - maybe not other people)

I was there, reservations made through Open Table, twice this week on 11/7 and 11/9 and were lucky enough to have Janet as our server both times. Terrific service and so welcoming! I will always ask for her. This Inn is about half way between where I live in Massachusetts and my friends in Connecticut so we use this as a halfway location.

Everything was great! The only problem was parking for handicap and not knowing where to go in for our reservations. We ended up in the "open table" room not knowing that there was another area where we had our reservations. The hostess was very gracious and and gave us the option to stay where we were or to go out and around the building to the dining room. It was too much walking for my friend who is handicapped. The waitress was very good and was very attentive to us.

This is a great place for classic for New England comfort food. Is it breaking culinary innovation boundaries? No. But that's not really what you come here for. Tasty food prepared well, served by a terrific and well-oiled waitstaff, and enjoyed in a colonial inn atmosphere...THAT's what you come here for. The turkey dinner, grilled pear, and pecan tart were all delicious. And people go nuts for the basket of breads and pastries served while you check out the menu. Other notes: upstairs dining room takes reservations, large bar and dining room one level down does not. There's a bakery with lots of items to take home (just check the hours). And really pretty spots to sit and chat outside and inside the inn/restaurant buildings. Landscaping and a well kept exterior are bonuses.
