Our server provided excellent service. The room was large and open, which made it noisier than expected. Unfortunately, some favorites were not on the menu due to covid.
Excellent clam chowder and roast turkey dinner! Seamus was very pleasant and attentive. Next time we come through the area we will definitely stay there and eat there!! Thank you!
The experience was exactly what I had feared: meh.
A New England classic, worth the trip and stop through the bakery
Always a favorite, the Public House did not fail to meet our expectations. They are doing a great job with social distancing, the service was great, the food was great and we had a wonderful, lovely lunch. We can’t wait to go back and looking forward to to spending time in The Tap Room!!!
This was my first time and it was really good. Our waitress was really good and the food was delicious.
we had the sirloin, pork chops, scallops, and the turkey dinners. All were fabulous! Julie our waitress, was fun to have as our server as well. All did a great job!
Hostess tried to seat our party if 6 at two separate tables but this was rectified when I said that was not what I had booked. Our server, Lillian, was just wonderful. Attentive and pleasant. As usual, the food was tasty and well presented. Our visitors from out of state lived the whole experience. Thank you.
Beautiful colonial historic restaurant built in 1871. The restaurant looks like an open meeting house from the time of its origination. I had a beautiful experience. Very peaceful. This food and service were fantastic. I took my apple pie à la mode back to my room for later consumption as I was really full after dinner. Overall, a wonderful experience.
Excellent food, great service, but most importantly, they are consistently good.
We go there probably 3-4 times per year, and so we have seen their consistently good efforts.
Had a nice experience dining upstairs for the first time. Quiet area and quite a distance between tables giving this an even quieter atmosphere. Bright and cheery room also!
Food and service were excellent however the dining room is both dreary and dull. Management needs to sit and have lunch and experience the lack of ambience and cold atmosphere.
Publick House has worked carefully to adhere to all COVID precaution guidelines - information was clear as were directions . Meal was delicious as always - 2 of our party had the pot roast and were more than satisfied with genuine old fashioned meal. The third had scallops which were properly prepared. We did eat inside, but outside seating was available and looked pleasant
Everything was excellent! We have been coming here for 20 years. Their Covid 19 precautions were excellent!
Very enjoyable! We will definitely return!
We arrived to be warmly greeted by a masked host and quickly escorted to our table. The protocols now in place were shared with us as well. The dining room was set with tables more than 6-10 feet apart and the wait staff was attentive, polite and non-intrusive. The food was good but I think it could have been better. Really, we have no complaints - it was just OK. The ambiance is lovely, the setting beautiful and we’ll definitely return. Thank you for taking so many precautions (really more than is required) to keep your guests and employees safe during these challenging times.
Reliably good all-American food in a well- maintained historic building! For years we stopped here when our kids were students at Holy Cross. Now it’s a great place to relax on the way up to Maine . The sticky rolls are such a nice way to start a meal here. Great bakery on premises!
As always... wonderful
Nice place. Good American type food . Would not give points for lunch
Great in every way
Wonderful! Sat outside on patio surrounded by hydrangeas.
Food is American and always good. Service is professional.
Would have preferred outdoors. Didn’t see option to ask when making the reservations
Lori our server was outstanding! She made it very enjoyable. My wife had the salmon which was fantastic. I had the NY strip and it was cooked as I asked (medium rare) which does not often happen at many restaurants. A little pricey but well worth it for that special date night!
Grandkids before school
Always a great meal and service!!
Salmon is my favorite
We sat inside the main room on a rainy day. It was delightful. We were not rushed, friendly service, will return.
The ambience, attentive wait staff, and our lunch experience all made for a most enjoyable experience.
My foodserver was outstanding: attentive, honest about menu options, and recommended the AMAZING blueberry pie. This really made my dinner experience positive. I had the maple chicken: superb!
We were seated at a nice corner table near the back.
Great window view and very quiet.
Service was outstanding, with a very attentive server.
The turkey dinner was wonderful with a perfect salad and desert. All 4 dinners were excellent and can’t wait to go back
Dinner, drinks and desert came to about 175 dollars for four of us.
The Public House is quintessential New England! The meals are delicious and the service was very good. During this time of Covid, the large banquet hall was set up so diners could enjoy a safe environment. To the team at the Public House - thank you!
We had a terrific meal! Two of us had salmon, though two different entre's. It was very fresh and tasty. Another had a burger which was juicy and cooked perfectly and the 4th in our party enjoyed a hearty turkey sandwich. Fresh turkey, not deli meat. She loved it.
The dining area felt very safe with strict adherence to social distancing rules. Our table was well beyond 6ft from other tables in their spacious hall.
The server was attentive, friendly, and competent with just the right amount of attention.
A perfect meal!
Very good comfort food, which while delicious, can be "heavy." Nice drink menu and selection. Wonderful atmosphere and beautiful grounds. Easy to find and park.
I don't really enjoy the atmosphere in the dining room; its just NOT the same; plus the only table available for 6 was in a corner near the door. I would have much rather sat near the window.
One other thing....the water there is Awful! I wish they would find a way to filter it.
Dinner was very good though.
Great service, great atmosphere, large portions. Lunch was delicious!
The social distancing was carried out to perfection and sevice by Julie was great. Some of the food was not quite up to par for this establishment. Our friends' turkey dinners were superlative ad usual with the ability to order light or dark meat. My duckling could have been more moist and tender. My wife's salmon, although overcooked was not hot when served. I'm sure there's a lot of adjustments for the new dining arrangements but want to help with feedback. We will return for another pleasant evening.
Been coming here for over 35 years and have never been disappointed. Our waitress Julie was excellent.
the atmosphere is amazing, the food is great and the service perfect!
This was our first visit to the public house since Covid began. The open table reservations were very easy to make. We followed the posted directions and entered the restaurant where we were greeted and escorted to our outside table under the tent in the front of the building. The ambience is outstanding Our waitress was pleasant, efficient, and followed all protocols. The food at the public house has always been outstanding for the many times that we have visited. I would highly recommend this historic restaurant.
The service was spectacular and the wait staff were very attentive to our needs. Food was excellent, however, I did miss the lobster pie dinner.
I enjoy the turkey dinner the only suggestions is they need to have a option of no sausage in the stuffing.
Not everyone eats pork. Or use turkey sausage. Thanks
