Been about a year since my last visit here and I've been to Public Landing many times over the past years. Have to say I'm never disappointed in the food, service, atmosphere. Quality is amazingly consistent no matter what I get off the menu.
As usual, the Public Landing satisfied our desire for an upscale meal with great atmosphere and excellent service.
Beet salad to die for. Great food and service. Definitely will be back.
As usual the the food was excellent and the service was outstanding.
Interesting historic building and good food and service, though very Will County.
All was good. Good meal, small menu to choose.
We were a group of four. We were somewhat disappointed with the change in the wine list as there was a limited choice of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, but the selection we had, a Trentadue La Storia Super Tuscan was great. The crab cakes we had as an appetizer were delicious with an interesting prep. Our entrees were the following: whitefish with crabmeat was very good, but rich; prime rib was a little tough and lacked presentation; farfalle toscano was okay but needed parmesan cheese; ribeye with peppercorn crusted was good. Our waitress, Debbie, was fantastic and saw to all our needs in a timely fashion.
It’s all good !! Server was great wine was good. Be back soon!!!
Hidden gem in Lockport
Everything was great , food , service and ambiance
Located in the beautiful restored 1838 Gaylord Building, this restaurant has a great patio and garden area. It is adjacent to the historic I&M canal and the walk along the canal is beautiful and interesting in every season. We have never been disappointed with the service, food, or ambiance. Just wish they would change their policy of limiting coupons to one per table even when couples request separate checks.
Incredible Food that is prepared perfectly. Great wine at reasonable prices. Landmark building that is very cool from the 1800's.. We got married there ...awesome reception hall.
Love Public Landing. It is a special get together restaurant as it is a little pricey.
The food was outstanding and the service superb. The atmosphere is so nice at any table. We enjoy coming here for date nights and feel treated.
Wow! What a great meal. Our food was excellent! Everything we ate tasted amazing. Started out with the loaded house made chips which were fabulous. The filet was so tender and cooked perfectly accompanied with a double baked potato. The other entree we ordered was the maple bourbon pork tenderloin and it was amazing too. For us, this place was a hidden gem and had no idea it was here but once we opened the door it was quite busy and loved the stone wall interior and decor. Arrived early for our reservation but was seated right away (thanks!). Can't wait to go back especially when the weather is nicer to sit outside.
Great food and friendly service in fine atmosphere. Fish, beef, chicken all made uniquely and very tasty.
The Good Friday Lake Perch was rather bland. The food was just food, not Good Food.
Jeff is always the finest server!
Good restaurant in a historic building. One of my favorites. We have been going there for years to celebrate special occasions or just for a good meal.
Met here for a special occasion on a Sunday afternoon. The service was excellent, we were not rushed, after appetizers and several drinks, we place our entree orders. The food came out quickly and hot. I ordered the half duck for $28; I have enjoyed duck on many occasions traveling across the country. I must say, this serving was the most expensive anywhere and not that tasteful. Others in the party all enjoyed their meals. The restaurant and area is very scenic.
Wonderful meal, with food and service both excellent. Great location and well worth the cost. Will be pleased to return here!
The history of the Gaylord building and the old horse drawn canal next to the building, plus a very good menu, make for a pleasant lunch or dinner.
I have been to Public Landing a few times and have always enjoyed my meal , this time was very disappointing I had the Pork Tenderloin and it was very dry and unappealing . I don’t like send back food but I probably should have . The person I was with had Prime Rib and enjoyed it. Waitress wasn’t very friendly . Because of my past experience I will try it again. Maybe just a off night.
great food and drink, excellent service, friendly atmosphere
Debbie, our server, was very attentive. The steaks were flavorful but had a considerable amount of fat. It was an expensive meal and didn't think the value matched the price.
We dine here 3 to 4 times a year. I was rather disappointed by the prime rib I ordered. On the plus side, I ordered the 10 oz but what arrived was considerably larger. I ordered rare-medium rare and it was more over than under prepared. It was also sinewy and tough to cut even with the steak knife and not very flavorful. I hedged on sending it back but I rationalized that I probably had a decent 10 oz. out of the slab on my plate.
The presentation was also not to my liking. The meat was served on top of the garlic mashed potatoes and that's just not my preference.
My fiance's duck was very much to her liking. So, we'll be back another time but not for the prime rib.
It was good!! Can’t wait till summer and sit outside.
Very nice time
We enjoyed a very nice lunch celebrating a friend's birthday. Food was very good and the service was too.
We have eaten at the Landing many times, but they just didn't have it this time. Will still go back.
Nice atmosphere, pretty good food, servers seemed overworked
Salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli was excellent. Very flavorful. First time at this establishment will definitely come again.
The food was average to a little above average. Great atmosphere & service. A unique experience.
Great food and Great service meat loaf was outstanding
Public Landing never disappoints. Great food at a fair price, great wine list, knowledgeable and attentive wait staff top it off . It's a can't miss place anytime of the year.
Great food, best blue cheese dressing on their salad!!
The restaurant’s interior surrounds diners in limestone block construction from the turn of several centuries old warehouse. Huge wooden beams support the ceiling as well as accentuate loud conversational noise. Our server was efficient and attentive. My wife had shrimp dejonge consisting of small shrimp buried in bread crumbs. Dry and less than appetizing. I had the ribeye, thinly cut and very gristley. We both had a small wedge salad smothered with chopped tomato and cucumbers. The “bleu cheese” dressing had no bleu cheese. My entree included garlic mashed which probably was the best part of the meal. We both had ice cream for dessert and were upcharged for a small dollop of Hershey syrup.
From the upbeat greeting from the hostess to our knowledgeable server. Everything was top notch, Lenten fish special ( grouper) was delicious. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. Drinks we’re strong and wine list was small yet had something for everyone. This is a well ran establishment, I understand why the restaurant was so packed. Thank You for being a strong staple in the SW burbs.
Overall very nice, just disappointed they didn’t honor each couples coupon for restaurant week.
