We dine here 3 to 4 times a year. I was rather disappointed by the prime rib I ordered. On the plus side, I ordered the 10 oz but what arrived was considerably larger. I ordered rare-medium rare and it was more over than under prepared. It was also sinewy and tough to cut even with the steak knife and not very flavorful. I hedged on sending it back but I rationalized that I probably had a decent 10 oz. out of the slab on my plate.
The presentation was also not to my liking. The meat was served on top of the garlic mashed potatoes and that's just not my preference.
My fiance's duck was very much to her liking. So, we'll be back another time but not for the prime rib.
It was good!! Can’t wait till summer and sit outside.
Very nice time
We enjoyed a very nice lunch celebrating a friend's birthday. Food was very good and the service was too.
We have eaten at the Landing many times, but they just didn't have it this time. Will still go back.
Nice atmosphere, pretty good food, servers seemed overworked
Salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli was excellent. Very flavorful. First time at this establishment will definitely come again.
The food was average to a little above average. Great atmosphere & service. A unique experience.
Great food and Great service meat loaf was outstanding
Public Landing never disappoints. Great food at a fair price, great wine list, knowledgeable and attentive wait staff top it off . It's a can't miss place anytime of the year.
Great food, best blue cheese dressing on their salad!!
The restaurant’s interior surrounds diners in limestone block construction from the turn of several centuries old warehouse. Huge wooden beams support the ceiling as well as accentuate loud conversational noise. Our server was efficient and attentive. My wife had shrimp dejonge consisting of small shrimp buried in bread crumbs. Dry and less than appetizing. I had the ribeye, thinly cut and very gristley. We both had a small wedge salad smothered with chopped tomato and cucumbers. The “bleu cheese” dressing had no bleu cheese. My entree included garlic mashed which probably was the best part of the meal. We both had ice cream for dessert and were upcharged for a small dollop of Hershey syrup.
From the upbeat greeting from the hostess to our knowledgeable server. Everything was top notch, Lenten fish special ( grouper) was delicious. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. Drinks we’re strong and wine list was small yet had something for everyone. This is a well ran establishment, I understand why the restaurant was so packed. Thank You for being a strong staple in the SW burbs.
Overall very nice, just disappointed they didn’t honor each couples coupon for restaurant week.
Excellent service and outstanding food! Would highly recommend!
Came in for the Friday lent special. It was delicious.
I LOVE the restaurant atmosphere. A lot of limestone and wood in a traditional atmosphere. Food was very good. There was a good wine selection that wasn't over the top, and was reasonable priced. Entree's were reasonably priced as well, with a broad price range. Service was attentive. Overall, a really nice time!
Always a wonderful experience at Public Landing. We've been coming here about ten years now, and really enjoy the atmosphere, as well as the food. Always great service, not to mention the fantastic food. The restaurant is located in the historic Gaylord Building, located on the Historic I & M Canal in Downtown Lockport, IL. Easy access from I-355 or I 55. If you live in the Chicago area, and have never been here, you really need to go. Steaks and Seafood are always perfect. Great comfort food as well. The outdoor patio is great , and they allow you to bring you dog. What a great place !!!
I have eaten at Public Landing frequently. It's small,
but has wonderful atmosphere. Great for date night. Or that special occasion. I would not recommend bringing young children along. Business casual attire or at least a collared shirt. The food is excellent and they pour a healthy cocktail. Looking to take someone on a first date or celebrate an anniversary, this place is perfect.
Love the landing - food is always amazing and a professional staff- I really love the building
Phenomenal as usual. Awesome food and great service.
Very nice , great service, excellent food. Can’t wait for a return trip
We were at Public landing for a birthday celebration and had the Valentine Special. The food was delicious, service impeccable, and presentation beautiful. We loved the choices available to us.
Went there for Valentine’s Day dinner, the food was delicious and really like the beef Wellington they had. The prices were very reasonable and you get a lot for your money. Will definitely come back some other time
We Went for Valentine’s Day dinner the price was perfect and the hospitality was incredible great for a nice evening dinner date or lunch, food was top notch.
Food, and service was great
Always a wonderful dining experience and the food choices superb and makes you want to come back
Always great food. Very relaxing. We always ask for "Debbie" as our waitress. She does a super job whether we are in a small or large group--attentive, fun and always gets the order right!
Dining at Public Landing is always a great experience. Their service is always spectacular. Their restaurant has a lovely view and fabulous food. Some of our favorites are the ribeye, fish selections, pot roast, and variety of pasta choices. It is our favorite restaurant for special occasions or just a quiet supper.
This place is great the food and the prices r good
We have been dining at The Public Landing for the last 15 years, never disappointed.
Great food for the price. Kid friendly as well, but also would be nice for a romantic dinner if dining later. Great outdoor space that allows dogs and they even have a menu to choose something special for your dog to eat.
My wife &I had an earl Valentine's Day dinner. We both had delicious tender Rib eye steaks, green beans & mashed potatoes. The mini wedge was also great This is one of our go to restaurants for a nice dinner.
Very interesting dining room with limestone and timber beams.
Food was good. Service was very good. This restaurant is well run and very comfortable.
Great location and beautiful design. Food was OK not outstanding but the services was excellent. Overall a good dining experience and we will be back!
The original limestone walls and ceiling timbers of the Gaylord building make you feel like your taking a step back in time, when horse drawn barges were the main transportation means for this area. The food is well prepared and there is a lot of variety on the menu, from pastas to steaks to fish. And definitely leave room for dessert! It's all great and moderately priced.
This was my first time going to Public Landing and I loved it. The history around the building is very interesting, the bar area was tight but cozy. Had to wait a little while for our table, which was no problem. Gave us time to get a drink at the bar. Had a good selection of food, and fairly reasonably priced. And our waitress and servers were the right amount of attentive.
Overall had a great experience. Will definitely go back. Hope to check it out in the summer, as it looked like they may have an outdoor patio.
Bar service always great! Busy place but we got our table on time. Server was super and food is always consistently good!
