Fantastic setting next to The Vets Auditorium. A pub in the cellar of the Renaissance Hotel. Amazing service from Lindsy. Cocktails ok not amazing. Food overall not good. Thai chicken wings were the best thing we had and they were just ok. Mussels in a ALFREDO sauce with sprouts . Not a good pairing . Spicy Thai noodles with jumbo shrimp. Noodles cooked well and very spicy. Shrimp over cooked, like rubber. More sprouts under the noodles. Arugula salad with large chunks of inedible purple onion. The whole meal seemed prepared by someone who has no business being in a kitchen. Nutty Irish Man coffee for dessert. Done well. Credit to our server again for seeing that it arrived at our table hot. No whip cream in restaurant for desserts or drinks. Unacceptable. This is a convenience location for the theatre only.
Beautifully decorated, delicious food prepared with care. Polite, friendly, professional service. I would love to come back for dinner.
The breakfast menu provided at the restaurant is significantly more limited and less interesting than the one shown on the Open Table site. For example, crazy coconut Belgian waffle, blue crab Benedict, and spanakopita or smoked salmon omelette were not on the menu. It was average, run of the mill options. Also, the restaurant was less than half full but the hostess sat my husband and I next to a family of rowdy kids. Total lack of awareness.
Lovely pre-concert dinner! Great service and excellent food!
This is the third time I have dined in this restaurant. Each time was disappointing. I keep going back because the venue is so very convenient -- just adjacent to the Veterans Auditorium and the frequent concerts there. Serious work needs to be done with the menu. Even dishes that sound appetizing and well-seasoned turn out to be bland or unappealing or simply missing flavor. The drinks are small and not well chilled. Too bad. I would love to be enthusiastic and am not hard to please.
We had a pre-wedding meet up at the bar and my group of 8 had dinner before hand. Many people involved in the wedding were coming and going and the staff were as friendly and helpful as any place I have ever been. The food was really great and the table set up was really fantastic for a group of 8-12+. Public is in the lower level of the Providence Renaissance Hotel and we stayed at the hotel for the weekend. Everyone kept coming back here for all meals and drinks at the bar. Really a great spot! I highly recommend!
The Public Kitchen is the best place to dine when attending a show at The Vets Auditorium. Located right next door, you can eat, valet your car, and walk comfortably to the show following your dinner. The menu is limited, but the choices are guaranteed to satisfy every diners tastes.
Very convenient prior to the events at the VMA. The food is healthy with lots of options from small plates to main courses. Cocktails menu is fun. Dessert was delicious - a tarte and the the pastry was especially light . Also, since it is in a hotel, I have met clients there for breakfast. Near the StateHouse, I also have lunch there and like the shrimp thai noodles.
I loved the restaurant! The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was cozy and our waiter Shawn (sp?) was amazing at explaining what certain ingredients on the menu were as well as catering to my dietary needs. I definitely will be coming back!
The place is nice enough. It’s part of the Renaissance Hotel so was expecting the Marriott breakfast buffet on the (limited) menu. Instead my companion ended up with a bland croissant with ham, egg and cheese. The ham slice was s good half inch thick and not very flavorful. I will say the same about my eggs Benedict. Very bland. The only item that was seasoned well were the home fries.
Excellent salmon special! Good service. Great for pre/post theatre.
Our server was not our best experience she was gruff and our bill was messed up it took 3 times for her to get it right
She might not be a good fit for this establishment.
We were here for our regular pre-concert dinner with friends, and it was as excellent as always.
Although the concert series ends soon, this restaurant will still be on our list of favorites to visit often. And we love introducing friends who have never been here.
As always, we enjoyed our delicious meal before attending a Rush Hour concert at the Philharmonic next door. We were happy to see our server, May [Mae?], again. [And the maitre d' - our fault not to remember names!] It's great to be so warmly welcomed. There was a lively crowd of different ages at the bar/tables. Husband always orders the salmon, and I always try something new -- this time a vegan surprise of wonderful spaghetti squash and mushrooms. Great! Another super experience -- looking forward to next time! THANKS, ALL!
Great food. Classy restaurant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are looking for a casual upscale place to go, this is the place to go to! Not only was the service and food spectacular, but the ambiance was superb! Whether you start off with a cocktail at the bar and then go to the dining room or you just take in the cozy atmosphere at the bar, it is a "hot" place to go. It's really a nice place to go when you want a little "quiet", but don't want to be in a place that is hustling and bustling, yet don't want to be forgotten about either! The Service was Excellent. The Food was Impeccable! I also suggest ordering a side of their awesome French Fries - it had mint and grated cheese on them! Our server, May, was awesome!
My husband and I stopped by for a bite after watching a game at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. It's a quick ride to Public and the complimentary valet makes parking a breeze! I ordered the Spicy Thai Noodles with shrimp paired with a glass of Aragosta. As always, this dish had the perfect amount of heat. Excellent service!
Great place to meet before a show next door at the Vets Memorial Auditorium. Food was fantastic, service was accommodating and friendly.
We lived this place! Very nice decor. Food was great! A busy night there so very crowded, but the staff was very accommodating. We would definitely go back.
Public Kitchen and Bar is a "go to" place before a show at The Vets. The food and service are excellent and the location can't be beat. So much better then eating at providence Place Mall and so much more affordable then eating at the high end restaurants downtown. Try it ... you'll be back.
Attentive, informed service. Well priced food. Proximity to Vets makes it ideal for pre or post performance get togethers.
The manager was very attentive and handled any concerns we had. This is our “go to “ dinner date for any performance at The Vets. Great original cocktails and desserts.
We arrived a bit early for our 5:30 reservation. We were seated promptly but then waited about ten minutes for our drink order to be taken, we ordered an appetizer at the same time. When our drinks arrived we ordered our dinner selections, 35 minutes later 3 of the four dinners arrived one under cooked and cool. Another ten minute wait for fourth meal also undercooked and returned.

While the last meal was deducted from our bill we were very disappointed in the kitchen service.
This restaurant is attached to a hotel and next to a concert hall. They should be prepared for big groups on concert nights. We noted another table near us sent all of their meals back.ll we were very disappointed in the kitchen service.

Went here before a show at The Vets. Good drinks, good food. Our server was buried by the hostess but she held it together well.
To the theater patrons, don't show up to the restaurant right next door at 5:30 and expect them to to make everyone's dinner at once. It can't be done. Plan ahead, show up early and be kind to the staff. We'll be back for sure. Thanks.
Wonderful dinner - great service and food!
First time. Nice place next to The Vets. Quiet Sunday evening , except for that rowdy Patriots crowd at the var😜
I had wing, my wife a burger. Good meals but a bit expensive at $70.
The Owner Dino was out of this world with the service!! It’s rare these days you actually get someone that involved in their restaurant and as a result the food and service was top notch! May our server was also quite attentive and friendly! We definitely will be going back not to mention trying some of the other restaurants owned! Two thumbs up!
At 5:15pm arrival, asked for quiet spot as diners enter thru bar, always fairly noisy area of course. We were ushered to a quiet corner with advice soon would be noisy all areas. Would prefer a simple yes response.
Regular pr-concert dinner with friends. Always a warm welcome, great service and wonderful food. Highly recommended.
Food was tasty but not impressive. For the cost it met expectations. “Small plates” were not small and we took home leftovers which added to value. Our waiter seemed like a novice- polite but uncertain with answers and a bit awkward in his efforts. Another waitress cam over at one point to answer our question for him. So no points deducted based on the assumption that he might be new at the job (though he could have used more training and a smile).
The food and service were good. Nice atmosphere. The dining room could use some attention. Many light bulbs were out in the booth we sat at. While we were dining the room was being setup for breakfast. That made the ding experience seem less sophisticated.
My favorite restaurant
It was a quiet New Years Eve. Service was great
First time visit and was pleasantly surprised by the various menu options. Loved the close proximity to the Vets. Will return again for pre-show meal.
Service was excellent, our server was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Food was not good, flavors were bland. Wanted it to be so much better than it was because the ambiance was really nice. Would be worth going to have drinks at the bar.
Had a last minute dinner with the family. Food and service were great. The bar had a great atmosphere which we will have to check out another time.
Went before a concert at the Vet. We allowed 1.5 hours, and that was plenty of time even though it was a Saturday night.
This is always our pre-theatre/concert dinner stop with friends and we have never been disappointed. The food is wonderful, service very efficient and pleasant, and we are always
finished with just enough time to get to where we are going without rushing.
And, it is always a pleasure to be greeted by Chris when we arrive. We will be back soon.
Christopher Moore always assures we have an awesome seat and dinner/service.
Cauliflower Steak was outstanding and vegetarian options were delightful.
