I met a friend there after work for a bite and to hang out. Food was fine, service polite and they let us take our time without any pressure. We didn't drink, but it looked like they had a good variety of options.
I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Public House. I attended the restaurant with a friend and we made reservations then had to alter the reservation time due to changes in our schedules. When I called about this change, a member of the Public House team was very understanding and accommodative. The environment at Public House is very beautiful and inviting, sophisticated but laid-back - and the menu had an awesome variety! I look forward to going again soon.
The server delivered our lunch and then never came back to see whether the meal was satisfactory. The french fries had been served cold. Once we flagged her down she promptly brought new hot fries from the kitchen, but it took a long time to get her attention and others ere halfway through their meal before the new fries arrived.
Had lunch with a friend. The wait staff was subpar - forgotten drink orders, sides, condiments, even water (had to ask multiple times). Food was nothing special. Fries were completely over done, drinks were weak. Eventually had to go to the bartender to get our check. Just a mediocre experience overall. Spend your money elsewhere in midtown.
Good venue to watch a Yankee game or any sports event.
Was charged $100 more than what my receipt says. Called every day for a week and was told a manager would get back to me. Never did. I now had to get my bank and lawyer involved. Used to be my favorite place. Will never go back. And will make sure everyone I know never goes.
They had changed the menus but still had the old ones on the site. Waitress didn't write our orders down and got the beer order wrong. Then one of our guests got the wrong cheese on his cheeseburger. Again she didn't write down the order. Onion rings were overly greasy.
It just wasn't a good experience. Would not go back.
Very very noisy place... I will never go there again. Though the waitress was amazing
Food and price ok. Music a bit loud, but if that doesnt bother you, good place to meet friends for a bite.
Good food , fast service, nice attentive servers, nice booth, enjoied the meal
Music was great while drinking, talking. Great large atmosphere and mixture of crowd.
Hostess was rude
The food was really good and the menu has plenty to choose from. It looked as though some of the tables and chairs have taken a pretty good beating and that somewhat detracted from the ambiance.
Hair in water glass. Mouse ran across dining room floor while eating. Diners scrambling to take pictures of it. I won't go back.
More frat party than restaurant. Burger was dry - a disappointment.
My only concern was the bill was incorrect with an additional charge of $40. It was quickly corrected but I didn't appreciate being overcharged.
I had been here for lunch on another occasion and it was very good. I needed something for dinner near Grand Central so this fit the bill; however, it was a disaster based solely on the noise level! Service and food were good but the music was so loud and with a full bar and nearly full restaurant area it was impossible to hear my dinner companion sitting across the table from me. The bar crowd had to shout to be heard above the music and the shouting just escalated throughout the entire facility.
My ears were ringing --even the server had trouble hearing our orders.
Great server, lousy atomosphere for dinner only due to noise level.
Good place for lunch.
Would never recommend or return for dinner!
Portions very small for the price.
Service slow with few in the place.
Lunch value at $25.00 per head for just a small single course.
Excellent as it usually is, they did not talus ever were there and called while I was sitting in the sinning room . Great food and good service and such a pretty setting with history! Wish there was a little more provided about the history. Always love this place!
Great Food Drink prices are way too high. Too loud for me. Crowd a tad bit too young for me also.
Food was good - upscale pub type menu. Service was great. Server very attentive. Very loud and the bar was the focus.
Long story short - Had reservation showed up and was told they were not seating anyone due to holiday parties but they could give me a table nearest the front door in the bar if I promised to be done quickly.
Nice bar. Poor floor management. Poor customer service.
Burgers were great! Service was one of the best but i had to lower the rating because 5 of the beers we order they were out of. We didn't know they were out until the waitress returned eaxh tkme with apologies
Went to lunch and enjoyed it more than expected! Nice staff and food very good! Looks like would be a nice place for drinks -
My girlfriends and I went to Public House specifically for the Tuesday night special: $35 for a 3-course meal with bottomless wine. Unfortunately, when we got there we were informed that a private party was taking up most of the restaurant's resources and only the regular menu was available.
Although the burger I ordered was enjoyable, I was disappointed that no one from the restaurant reached out and told us ahead of time that we wouldn't be able to do the special.
Both the hostess and waitress were welcoming and friendly. The waitress was very helpful with selecting food options. Overall high marks for service.
Our waiter, Peter, was very good...friendly, attentive (but not obtrusive), knowledgeable.
Artichoke and spinach dip was excellent!
Salmon was also quite good!
Noise level was RIDICULOUSLY loud (between 6:30 and 8:00)!!!
It was too loud for dinner and we left. I would never go back for dinner. You could not hear anything. People were screaming cause it was so loud.
I picked the restaurant on a rainy day based on its Zagat rating and the proximity to my client's office. We each had calamari and a spinach salad. The waiter admitted it was her first day and she did not know what teas they had. The calamari was hard crusted the crust was startchy and not cooked through but the meat was rubbery as if overcooked (or not so fresh). The spinach salad was fresh and free of sand, the dressing was good and the tomatoes ripe. It started to pour just before we left. My client was grateful it was so close to her office.
The food was good but not great and the waitstaff while friendly, were not very attentive. It took 20-25 minutes to get our salads and my friend never received the extra dressing she requested. It was not particularly crowded and the waitstaff seemed to be milling around purposely avoiding making eye contact with customers.
Conveniently located NY Sports Bar. Food is good as is the service. Great bar scene. Watched the World Cup and had great fun. A bit pricey but it is after all NYC.
Went here for lunch - Food was great and portion sizes were large. Service was extremely slow with only 1 server working all tables. Was there for over an hour just for lunch. The bar area was nice and I can see that part getting packed for happy hour.
Good for lunch, food is very good, especially compared with similar priced lunch spots in the Grand Central area. Tends to be a little noisy, but that becomes less noticeable once seated and talking with your group. We have avoided at night due to the loud music.
I saw that someone else had written that this is a great place for lunch - very quiet.
Well, they were right!! We had a great time. Salads were delicious and huge!! Hamburger and fries were perfect.
Definitely will be back again.
It was so loud that we almost left. People had to scream at the poor waitress to be heard. Food was poor but our server was wonderful.
Public House was hopping on a Tuesday night. Seemed especially well-suited to recent college grads looking for a post-work bar.
always have a great experience at lunch
perfect business area place
can have coversations and not noisy
Platos especiales y desconocidos si no eres de EEUU. Excelente atención. Música fuerte. No es para una cena romántica, es para un momento más informal.
Food was excellent - we got nachos, burger, chicken salad sandwich, and the turkey brie sandwich. It's a very popular post-work Happy Hour spot so even though we had a table in the dining area you're still in the mix of things so expect it to be loud and crowded
