Sat at the bar for the big east tournemant
I love this place. It is casual and fun and is a very active and upbeat place. They have a diverse menu and the food is good and the service is great. I also think the prices are reasonable. It is kind of a no frills kind of place but I like it and will be back soon.
Very loud music, service slow.
Public House is a typical nyc bar restaurant. Good happy hour from 5-7 with generous pours. The menu was fairly broad with tavern fare. Very very loud.
Perfect place to go before a Knicks game at MSG. Walkable from Grand Central station. My 2 teenage sons went and then walked to MSG. Good bar food...burgers, wings, etc... Tons of TV's to watch games while eating
Went to watch the Big10 Championship game. Midway thru 3rd qtr, the screen we were watching suddenly rolled up and a DJ started pumping out beats. Place can’t make up its mind if it’s a sports bar or night club.
It's like a slightly nicer and more expensive Applebee's, Similar menu, vibe, crowd, noise...good location, but that's about it. Nothing specifically to complain about, but also not really a great experience to have in NYC.
I would say that for dinner the place was very loud. Probably the glass windows and no sound proofing or cushioning. But the food and service was really good
I wish when I order the Guacamole I would of been told it was for one person
and the Chips were for two people
had to order twice. it was hot. the music was too loud and we had to yell at the table to be heard. And it was overpriced even for midtown Manhattan.
Public house is always great! Joey (mgr) is awesome! Thank you,
Went with a friend to watch the soccer game on a friday afternoon. Food was good, drinks were good, plenty of screens for easy viewing. Ive seen reviews complaining about wait staff but when I arrived I notice there is a button to summon the waitstaff on the table. Button works and bus staff are always around if wait staff isn't. I would go back! Great time!
The restaurant was Way to loud, the bathrooms were dirty and the staff was rude and unfriendly when we first walked in. We also did not have one continuous waitress or waiter throughout our time. I wouldn’t recommend this place
Although the food was good, the service was a bit lacking (waiter was busy with large groups so I don’t necessarily blame him) should have had more help, otherwise he was nice and professional. The noise level was what did it for us. The music was so loud that it made everyone at the bar and us sitting at the restaurant scream when talking. It was downright horrible. I understand there is happy hour but it is also a restaurant not a CLUB!
Lively sports bar, a stones throw from Grand Central Station. A DJ plays music during happy hour, good food fun times, great wait staff
More for happy hour crowd than diners. Extremely loud. Food so-so.
There were nice options for vegetarian friends and the service was good. It was noisy with a fundraiser in progress.
Food was good, came out quick and serving staff very helpful
A DISASTER. I had four family members in from out of town. They took a reservation AND MADE ME CONFIRM IT THE DAY BEFORE when, in fact, they were closed for a private event. My firm in the Chrysler Building uses this place for events but we will never come here again. Unprofessional and totally thoughtless. Thanks for ruining a family event.
Decent place for lunch, good food with nice atmosphere.
Great place - good and varied selection. S service is awesome!
Great place to see a game. Plenty of TV screens, good beer selection. Food is just ok.
The Bloody Mary started off the meal with a bang - delicious. The food was also delicious and there was plenty of it! The service was prompt and friendly.
Had a great day with my girlfriends in NYC. Also got to watch the football game on a big screen!
I really like this place and will definitely be going back. The staff is accommodating and the service was excellent. The menu is quite diverse and there is something for everyone. Great food.
Food was good but plan to ask your servers multiple times for things like refills and the check. Budget about 15 more minutes to your meal time because of these delays.
Great for a group
Table service was OK, Joey was awesome!!! A little loud for what we went for, however, we had a great time!
We met here with a large group for happy hour and dinner and it was great. Easy drink/beer list, fun atmosphere, and something on the food menu for everyone. They even have gluten-free beer and menu options.
I was expecting a chill place to have dinner with a friend. It turns out it was a loud, crowded sports bar. For a sports bar it was fine, but as a chill NYC restaurant for a nice catch dinner, it was not great.
This place right here, wow I dont know where to begin. If I had to base my review on just my first hour here then I would tell you run for the hills. I was already forewarned about the lack of service from previous Yelp reviews but I went anyway to see they are not far from the truth.
In a nutshell this place is not too far off from being a self service establishment. At different times I had to get put my seat to either find help, order a drink, and closed my tab. Our first hour there we ordered chips and guac with two shots of tequila which took 30 minutes for us to get the chips after I spent 10 minutes looking for someone to even take our order. As our group got a bit bigger, the service got a bit better, the food and drinks were coming out quicker.
My Cons are mainly the reflection of poor management:
- Slow and impersonal service (obvious she wasn't thrilled about us)
- Advertised specials that weren't offered
- One waitress available for a whole bar who was also being the hostess when we arrived
- The plastic cups for water
- Having to track down the waitress to get my bill (took 15 mins to get her)
After my visit I totally see what the reviews on yelp were talking about and the management at The Public House needs to do better, stop the madness
Noise level was absolutely terrible. Couldn’t hear ourselves talk across the table. It’s a sports bar!!! Let the sound be the games on TV not blaring music which stops customers from communicating.
The food and service was excellent. The facility was excellent but management choice of sound level was absolutely horrible for that early in the evening!!
Public House has a good staff who tried to be attentive to us. The problem was that there was a large party who took over the entire 1st floor so my friend and I were located on the small upper level. Being on thr 2nd floor meant that the servers could not easily see us so signaling that you needed something or your check was hard and time-consuming.
I met a friend there after work for a bite and to hang out. Food was fine, service polite and they let us take our time without any pressure. We didn't drink, but it looked like they had a good variety of options.
I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Public House. I attended the restaurant with a friend and we made reservations then had to alter the reservation time due to changes in our schedules. When I called about this change, a member of the Public House team was very understanding and accommodative. The environment at Public House is very beautiful and inviting, sophisticated but laid-back - and the menu had an awesome variety! I look forward to going again soon.
The server delivered our lunch and then never came back to see whether the meal was satisfactory. The french fries had been served cold. Once we flagged her down she promptly brought new hot fries from the kitchen, but it took a long time to get her attention and others ere halfway through their meal before the new fries arrived.
Had lunch with a friend. The wait staff was subpar - forgotten drink orders, sides, condiments, even water (had to ask multiple times). Food was nothing special. Fries were completely over done, drinks were weak. Eventually had to go to the bartender to get our check. Just a mediocre experience overall. Spend your money elsewhere in midtown.
Good venue to watch a Yankee game or any sports event.
Was charged $100 more than what my receipt says. Called every day for a week and was told a manager would get back to me. Never did. I now had to get my bank and lawyer involved. Used to be my favorite place. Will never go back. And will make sure everyone I know never goes.
They had changed the menus but still had the old ones on the site. Waitress didn't write our orders down and got the beer order wrong. Then one of our guests got the wrong cheese on his cheeseburger. Again she didn't write down the order. Onion rings were overly greasy.
It just wasn't a good experience. Would not go back.
