For the beer lover in you, Public House 29 offers the "Perfect Pour 24". Carefully blended craft beers from around the region and the world. The bar has a one of its kind frost rail, perfect for the house specialty,The "Moscow Mule". Incredible food, wonderful beer and spirits collection at a very moderate price. Public House 29 was clean and comfortable atmosphere. I ordered the pot roast and my husband ordered the meat loaf, both dishes were delicious. Our plates were full, we had a hard time finishing our meals. The series’s spot on, friendly and courteous, our server was always checking on us or refilling our drinks. Will definitely be going back.
Great! Good service and food
I was excited to try this place based on Open Table reviews. I was disappointed. Food was mediocre and service was ok. The one cool feature they had was the table of board games to choose from at the front. You could pick a game and take back to your table while you wait. Our boys enjoyed that.
Receptionist didn’t have open table reservation even though I had confirmation.
We love the ice area on the bar. The beer is cold and great selection and overall the bar is well stocked. Wish they would get a GF beer. Will be back soon.
Very good food and service. The music was a bit too loud, which unfortunately is all too common in local restaurants. The all you can eat shrimp was delicious, the chips and cornbread made a great evening snack.
my husband and I love going to Public House 29 for birthdays and date nights. They have the best cheese sauce around and the service is always great!
Food was great with the exception of semi warm fries☹️☹️
It would be nice to have menu changes. To go to the best - and really only restaurant in Rochester and always have the same menu gets old. A soup? Etc. Would be nice.
I ordered the pork shank. the meat is supposed to be falling off the bone. It wasn't. I had to ask for a steak knife to cut the meat. Terrible.
Menu needs to be updated and expanded. Waiter seemed inexperienced. Slow in asking for drinks.
This was the first visit to Public House 29 for all 4 of our party. Every one of us ordered something different and every one of us were beyond pleased with the food. We have officially added it to our restaurant rotation and will definitely be back often! Highly recommended!
Food was great. Server, Ron was very attentive and excellent. Can’t believe I ate a whole horseshoe!
Did a family dinner at Public House 29 and it was a really good experience. Place is comfortable, service is great and the food was really good with some of the meals outstanding. We had a really nice time. Favorites are the mac and cheese, pizza, cheese cake and lava cake. Will definitely be back!
Small family went for Easter dinner.
Good as always
Always enjoy the food and service. Will visit again.
This local restaurant has excellent food and service! We love that we can make reservations online at OpenTable.inc.
After a softball game it was the perfect spot to drink a mule and eat nachos
Good food, slow service, long selection of beers. Their 5 oz sample glasses don't hold nearly 5 oz of beer. Noisy - group of 8 and couldn't talk from one end of table to other because of noise.
Good food. Nachos are excellent. Good beer selection.
I ordered the Spaghetti Pie. The reason I gave a poor review is because my entree was maybe a 1/2 cup of Spaghetti noodles and sauce. I think it was supposed to have sausage but I only saw one small piece. The dish was $13.99 and with drink and tip was $22.00. I was done eating way before anyone else at my table because I only about 5 bites of food. Everyone else's dish looked really good and portions were good. It was just that mine was not.
I've been here many times & have introduced several friends to it & they enjoyed it, as well. The wait staff is awesome & very informational. The pulled pork mac n cheese is awesome! I woyld definitely recommend it. I'm not a beer drinker, so I really like that they have drinks for everyone.
Very good beer selection. Try the Schlafly's Ale made for the restaurant. Varied menu for meat eaters and vegans. Good ambience and not noisy.
Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Food was excellent and wait time for food was reasonable. Enjoyable evening.
A group of 9 went on New Years Eve. Food was very good, loved the added menu items for New Years. Everyone loved their food and beer selections.
Always enjoy this restaurant!
We had an excellent experience - service and food outstanding. Highly recommend the White Garlic Pizza.
Had Tabasco burger just like a regular burger no difference
My wife and I were spending the weekend in Springfield to see the Lincoln sites. Since we were going to a nicer place on Saturday (see my review of Nick & Nino's), we wanted to keep a lower key/lower cost for Friday .
We had a reservation, arrived at 7:00 PM and were promptly seated. There is a high school just across the street and they were having a home game. Pretty large school, lots of traffic. They also appeared to have it televised on some of the TV's inside the restaurant.
The restaurant is clean, and was vibrant on that Friday night. Not terribly loud, but a bit of a challenge to hear. Overall, though, it was a nice, clean place to go, was nicely decorated, and good pizza restaurant ambiance.
They have a very nice beer menu - approximately 15-20 options as I recall. Probably 10 of those were on draft. Note that if you ask for a sample, they will charge you $2.00. I only wanted it to see if it was a beer I would like, and I've sampled beers at numerous brewpubs and restaurants in the past and never paid a sampling fee. Not that it was a huge charge - it's the principle. Oh, and I didn't find out about the $2 sampler charge until I got my bill.
The pizza was OK - with their specialty oven they advertised, I thought it would be better. The outer crust is nicely crisp. However, on our margarita pizza, the center of the pizza was soggy. On a 10 inch pizza, I would estimate the sogginess was the inner 5 inches - so almost 1/2 of the pizza was soggy and limp. They used a minimal amount of mozzarella cheese - felt like they were taking shortcuts on the cheese. The sauce was OK, but the tomatoes were sliced way too thick. The pizza tasted OK, but I don't see myself making a second trip there for it.
We split a small Caesar salad, and it was fine for a pizza restaurant. A little heavy on the dressing, but it tasted OK.
Overall, we were disappointed with the pizza and the sample charge. It was OK pizza, but I probably wouldn't return.
The food is very good. We got the seating requested. It was a special beer night with Hands of Fate. Even getting there soon after 6:00 they were out of the glasses and some of the beer. Disappointing. However, we go to HOF frequently.
The food is always good and we always have great service.
We made a reservation for two and requested a booth but instead were seated at a table next to a table of 10. Whole room was extremely loud! We could barely hear each other. We've been to Pub House many times and found the servers to be very good or very bad. Our server was very bad. Took us an hour and 20 minutes with just an entree. She never came to check on us after we got our food. The table next to us was seated about 10 minutes after us and had one of their very good servers. They had drinks, appetizers, and entrees and were on their way 10 minutes before we were. The service and noise level are always a gamble and this time we lost.
Bad experience again. We always use OpenTable and request one of two tables. This time the front girl lied saying they were reserved. Initially we said yes we reserved one but sat elsewhere anyway. Then as we left we let them know we didn't appreciate not being accommodated
If this was a single incident I wouldn't be writing this. But this time it was a big turn off!
Good craft beer selection. Great service with plenty of seating. Food thoughtfully prepared and tasty.
This place is THE only real restaurant/pub in town, and it delivers on all counts.
The horseshoes were good and so was the service. Our waitress was new and could not answer the simplest question but that was ok--we took her effort into account and gave her a good tip. RT. 29 has an extensive beer list. We ordered draft beers instead of bottles, assuming they would cost less. Wrong! Should have checked! Our beer was $5 a glass and turned out to be much more costly than a bottle. Actually the cost of 2 beers was more than the cost of our meal. Be sure you check if you plan to stay within your budget. Lots of TVs with all kinds of sports going on; lots of loud talking; not the place for a romantic evening or if you want to carry on an important conversation. Good for a casual and fun night out and kids would be fine there.
Delicious food, attentive wait staff, nice selection of brews. Made reservations for 6 and were promptly seated. Pizzas were yummy; two in our party ordered sandwiches and they were big enough that could have just shared one.
Just an all around great place. Took our four 20-something children. Everyone was happy with the menu and drinks. Nice atmosphere!
As good as the first. Good pub like food in a friendly atmosphere for all ages. Worth the stop for sure.
