Sunday Brunch 10:00 am
I used to LOVE Pub and Kitchen and my husband and I used to go there all the time. But recently, it has gone downhill. Maybe it's the summer months, when the staff might be different (and perhaps servicing the owner's other restaurant in Avalon?) But I must admit, I was disappointed. The menu had been updated - which is great - but the salad we ordered was really really salty (I couldn't eat it); they were unwilling to adapt any of the menu items (adding a protein to a salad would require additional preparations from the kitchen, but not a crazy ask from a customer). And the service was just OK.
I really want to go back, but will need to give it a think before doing so.
Food was good for those who could eat it. We had a gluten free guest and the menu options were limited to basically one thing. Check first!
Nice atmosphere. Nice sidewalk cafe. Have enjoyed brunches a lot, but find the dinner food just so so. Much too much salt and trying too hard in ways. Simpler might work better.
We had a great brunch...a new item on menu- the focaccia bread pizza with broccoli rabe, ricotta and egg was interesting and delicious. The marinated tofu Bahn mi was also really tasty. The special Aperol Spritzer was lovely for a warm spring day. It's always lively and LOUD inside. We love this neighborhood gastropub!! There is something for everyone on the menu.
Haven’t been to P&K in years. This was a brunch visit. It was good, but nothing special really.... Baked eggs with fennel sausage in tomato sauce, similar to a shakshuka, was decent. Friend had an egg sandwich. Also decent. We heard their Bloody Mary’s were out of the world. Nope. My regular one was tiny, with one lonely olive, served in a wine glass, weirdly. Friends bloody was the Wrangler, a spicy version. Tasted ok, but was a salt bomb. Everything was overpriced. The bacon was super fatty and disappointing. Oh well. Service was great - friendly and attentive.
This place remains a strong neighborhood go-to for good food and decent drinks.
Back again to phenomenal oysters
The East-Coast oysters at six for $10. are the most delightful bargain in town. The oysters are so good, don't put any sauce or vinaigrette on them; they are superb by themselves and much better than the buck-a-shuck at the Oyster House, I am not happy to say. I used to love coming to the Oyster House on Sansom. I can't say I've liked anything else at Pub and Kitchen, not so much the famous hamburger and not the brussel sprouts with grated cheese on top. I say these are the best oysters in town and a phenomenal bargain at Happy Hour (4-6!). As for the sauce, ask for bread. They don't have oyster crackers or saltines, OK. But you ask for bread, and they give lovely slices of grilled baguette. Get that to savor their excellent oyster sauces, but the oysters are too delicious on their own to put the sauce on. All the specialty beer was half price too, a big deal, but not for me, and I thought the cocktails were a bit watery.
We were visiting from out of town and celebrating our anniversary. The food was outstanding, cocktails and beer were great and the service was fantastic. It was St. Patrick’s day - so probably a little louder than normal, but I was glad we were seated in the back room.
The gnocchi was amazing!! Would definitely go back.
Very good, we enjoy P&B but wish the menu were a little more extensive. Sometimes we bring friends who aren’t familiar and they’re surprised at how limited it is. That said what we chose was delicious, root vegetable pie, vegetarian pasta, Brussels sprouts, wings. All were perfectly prepared and flavorful. Not your typical bar food!!
This place always knocks it out of the park!
Have had 2 great dinners and one great brunch. Really like this place as a neighborhood go to.
Noise level extremely high
Salad starters average
Braised short rib very poor and stringy
Bronzino good beans bad
Olive oil cake inedible
Apple dessert excellent
We went to Pub and Kitchen for restaurant week. The music was way too loud but everything else was great. Lots of energy at this place at happy hour time frame. The food was terrific, the service was excellent, and we would go back!
excellent food-a bit too noisy for my tastes. Hanger steak was outstanding.
Delicious, delicious, delicious! Lovely, cozy old world, yet very now, decor and ambiance. Great neighborhood restaurant worth traveling to. Attentive service and an all-around terrific restaurant. We went for a birthday and had the greatest time. A special little gem.
Loved the food! It was just a bit cold where we were sitting.
The hostess was very accommodating with our families as we had two children in car seats. The back room is just as fun and cozy as the bar area. Service was great and attentive. Their happy hour deals are fantastic. Probably the best brussel sprouts I’ve ever eaten. The burger lived up the hype. As a party of 4 adults we are our way through most of the menu and everything was great. It was a perfect place to get together with friends and we will definitely be back since they were helpful in getting us seated with a baby, which is a challenge at most places.
Great food, awesome atmosphere and our server was great- easy going, fun, informative about not only the menu, but also Philly!
Loved the positive energy in this restaurant. Wings were different in a good way. Broccoli starter was fabulous. My salmon was perfectly cooked.
My husband and I love Pub & Kitchen! It’s our go-to for date nights. The food is always fantastic and the staff is awesome.
Came for brunch with a few friends and had a great experience. We had a wonderful spot outside on an absolutely gorgeous day.
Our waiter was great and accommodating and let us put two tables together as we actually knew the people next to us.
Food was fantastic. Great restaurant, service and food!
energetic busy bar crowd. went for dinner - food was good. a bit overpriced given that portions are on the smaller side.
Great spot for dinner with friends. Food was great -- ordered a whole bunch of apps to share, including brussel sprouts, calimari, oysters, and the pretzel. All were great! The entree selection is limited and some of the entrees are expensive -- we all went with the burger, which was delicious (and a reasonable price). Cocktails were approachable and well made. Service was excellent. Would return!
Food is overpriced for its quality and portion. They charged almost $30 for a menu item "market fish" which is just a small piece of sea bass and some garnish from left over vegetables.
Overall it was pretty good. The food was really good despite the limited options. The burger was great and cooked to order though be sure to specify how you would like it cooked. The handmade pasta was really tasty however the portion size was tiny, my guest got this dish and we had to stop somewhere on the way home as he did not get enough to eat, that was a little disappointing. The experience would have been much better if we had been seated further away from the bar. The noise level was the loudest I have ever experienced while in a restaurant or bar. It was seriously deafening. At first I let it go because I figure all the other seats were taken but after getting up to use the restroom there was another dining room with only two parties in it that they failed to mention. Despite the good food and pretty good service, the good and the bad are about equal.
We went to Pub and Kitchen during restaurant week. The food was good, but not fantastic. Our biggest complaint was that the restaurant was only 30% full but it took 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food to arrive!
was a perfect Friday Happy Hour date spot! Fun HH menu not extensive but the choices are different than the usual stuff. The HH wine by the bottle list was very limited and disappointing but, the cocktails were good!
Although the food was good. The menu was limited and the choices were strange.
Casual, comfortable, delicious... With a great staff!
Really great food and amazing server Beth.
Enjoyed discovering this great bar that does food well and offers good choice and value; good location to bring friends and enjoy city energy without being overwhelming...you can hear yourself talk. Will be back!
Great food amd nice atmosphere. Food can be a tad pricey, but I will definitely be back.
Darling place with a bar food type menu that was okay to good and varied drink selection but way too loud and cramped for dinner and any conversation. Lucky walk ups get tables outside which in a lovely night would seem delightful and quiet enough o have a conversation. If you make a reservation then apparently these tables are not available to you.
I live in the neighborhood and am constantly taking friends to what used to be one of my favorite local restaurants. However, on July 4 it was horrible and disappointing--I'm hoping that perhaps they were training a new chef? Pretzel with crab hard to eat , hamburger over-salted, beignets equally terrible and tasteless. The waitress, however, was great--she's a regular.
I won't be going back anytime soon after this experience.
Completely underwhelmed by everything. Service was beyond slow and not attentive. Only one glass of water is standard apparently. The fish and chips for $20 was literally the most expensive item on our $90 bill and it was one super small fish stick of fish under 5 undercooked potatoes wedges. Super disappointed for a $100 meal.
Our food, cocktails and atmosphere were amazing! Our server was great but the kitchen was backed up. It took a long time for our appetizers to come out. Overall everything was great, just wished the food didn't take so long to come out
I won't eat here again. I am a neighbor. This is my 4 th visit. Nothing has improved It is loud beyond comfortable. The food is O.K, way overpriced. It appears successful, but doesn't cater to my needs! Good Luck.
Great service with friendly staff who knew their stuff and made great recommendations. The skate with rice is one of the best things I've eaten in age and the fresh strawberry margarita was pretty special as well
