PUB 1842 by Michael Mina – MGM Grand Ratings and Reviews
We arrived and we're promptly seated, despite being a bit early. Our server stayed on top of things while giving us the slow pacing we wanted and asked for.
The food was the star. The calamari starter was great. We had 2 different burgers and the pulled pork sandwich. All were wonderful. Each came with fries, which were thin and crispy. So good. The Mac N Cheese side was guilding the lillie (Too much food.) Maybe that's why I didn't think it was that great.
The tap list was excellent and pours of an imperial pint. Yes, larger than a US pint.
Well worth a visit for excellent beers and upscale pub food.
We had a 12:30 reservation for a business lunch during a 90 minute break at the MGM convention center. We arrived a few minutes early and we were seated at 12:35. Our drink order was taken after a bout 5 mins later and served about 5 mins after that. We placed our lunch orders when the drinks were delivered (so assume 12:45)--2 burgers off the menu without changes--1 medium rare, 1 medium with the BBQ fries that come with them. Lunch was delivered to the table 40 mins later. The fries were NOT hot. The burgers were good, but we were so short on time, that we did not get to savor the flavor of them. The large party of 10 who were seated just after us and got their meals as we were leaving at 1:45 (nearly 1 hour after being seated).
Moral of the story. Don't try to have lunch here on a break from the MGM convention center UNLESS you have a 2 hour slot or don't mind going back to your meeting late. They are simply NOT staffed up to handle a large lunch crowd that arrives in a concentrated time frame.
My husband and I were in Vegas celebrating our 33rd anniversary. We stayed at the MGM and came to Pub 1842 because I had read such great reviews online. Boy, were the reviews RIGHT! We enjoyed our dinner so much that we came back the next day for lunch. The pretzels were absolutely incredible and the freshly ground beef made the burgers some of the best we have ever had. When we come back to Vegas you can be assured we will be back!
Second time to this location; same as the last time was "just OK". The outstanding item was the mac and cheese. Burger was, again, just OK. Two of the four of us had fish and chips. Chips were outstanding; the fish was dry/overcooked in both orders. Beer selection is phenomenal. It's a decent spot to grab a bite, but there are better options. It is convenient as it is right inside MGM if staying there.
we ate here because my wife has several food allergies and they said they could accommodate her no problem. that they did. the manager, rachel, came over and said their motto is "yes we can" and they would let her make her own dish if necessary. the chef just wanted her to eat a meal safely. my wife was thrilled.
Food was INCREDIBLE -- when we finally got it. Had a reservation. Arrived prior to reserved time. Seated promptly. Waitress attentive (at first) and took our food & drink orders. Then we waited 55 minutes for our food. (Yet there were empty tables all around.) Patiently, we waited. After almost an hour we had to ask what was going on. I asked to speak to a manager. Had to ask for a to-go box when food finally arrived, as we had time constraints. Staff was snarky & not upfront about the situation. Tried to collect full bill, which I said we would not be paying until we heard from the manager... who kept us waiting an additional 20+ minutes. In the end, our bill was discounted and the food was amazing. But I wouldn't go there if timing may be an issue for your party.
Great food and great service! I had the BBQ chicken sandwich... It was huge and really good (and messy)! My husband had the brisket and said it was very good. My sister had their signature burger and loved it--that was also huge! Fries were also really good! Will definitely go back next time we are in Vegas.
It's a pub and that is how it should be approached, except the food is pub fare with a flair. Our only complaint was that one of the two pieces of the fish and chips was too heavily battered. That made it doughy inside and greasy outside. The fish was really good, though. There is also a Korean barbecue salmon sandwich that is simply fabulous. The beer choices are quite good as well, but not huge.
Went in for a quick bite and were pleased to find it was happy hour at the bar, so we opted to sit there. The pork tacos and the sliders were awesome, and the bartender was engaging despite being busy. Sat at the far end of the bar near the kitchen, but it had a tough angle for the nearest television. Truly, the only downside.
I was excited to eat at a Michael Mina restaurant. The fried pickles were awful, very greasy, as if the frying temperature was not high enough. Our meal was fair. The service was lacking as our waitress was not around our table frequently enough to check on our drinks. We had to keep asking for refills and new cocktails. I wouldn't go back.
