Fantastic food and wonderful service!
The atmosphere was wonderful, the music, decor and ambiance are all on point. The presentation was beautiful, but the service was lacking and there were too many discrepancies between what we ordered and what was actually on the plates we received. The main issue is that the food that was described in the menu was not what came out on our plates. It wasn’t bad, just bland and not as was described. “Shaved asparagus” was simply whole spears of it. “Parmesan fluff” was just chunks of shaved parm from a container. Disappointing, considering that the menu sounds incredible. Our server was inexperienced and not very attentive. Our drinks were good, aside from a glass of stale wine, but overall for the money we spent we expected a much better experience. The restaurant was possibly just having an off night, but I doubt we will be back.
Enjoyed the entire evening
Just was a long process. We were there over 2 hours but it was a great experience and we love the program.
We really enjoyed our first visit to Providence. Food was delicious. Service was excellent. Presentation was very up scale. We will be back. Note: if you leave a tip on your card, it is treated as a donation to the programs. Wait staff is paid $9 an hour and the only tips they receive are ones given in cash.
Nice restaurant. The server was very attentive to us and the food was excellent. The food came in a timely way and was hot when it arrived. Overall a good value and a very nice dinner.
Our family decided to try the restaurant since they will be catering our wedding later this year. Protocol was our waiter, and he was incredibly knowledgeable about the mission and values of the establishment. He was funny and professional.
The food was delicious. For someone who doesn’t care for Brussel sprouts, there sauce highlights the best flavor. The Salumi and Cheese plate was exceptional. The shrimp and grits were out of this world. The family agreed it was the best they have ever had. The meatloaf was good, but did not care for the sauce. The chicken and dumplings were hearty, but could have used a little salt and pepper.
Overall, we loved the experience and the food. We will certainly be back, and we cannot wait to start picking out the wedding selections!
Food and service were excellent. Only wish the restaurant were more separated from the hotel lobby.
Really impressive food, will definitely go again! This would be a perfect spot for large gatherings, rehearsal dinners, etc.
We went as a group of 6 for New Years Eve. Took forever to get our drinks, which mine was terrible when it came (elderberry fizz). The table was tucked by an exterior door (drafty) and poorly lit. The food came out at a decent pace and the appetizers were decent, highlight of entire meal were the brussel sprouts. The main course was mediocre at best for the cost. My friend, who ordered the salmon, didn’t even have salmon on her plate, just the garnish. Had to ask for her meal. Another friend couldn’t even eat her dinner. For spending over $100 per couple, I felt completely underwhelmed and disappointed.

The ambiance is wonderful. But it took 45 minutes for our group of 7 to be served any food. Waiter was maybe inexperienced. Took drink order one person at a time. Instead of bringing out drinks at one time, he brought one at a time out, which took a long time. Brought soups, then brought salad with the meal for one guest instead of with soups. Crab bisque was very salty.
We bragged about Providence to our visiting relatives from Pennsylvania. We were very disappointed in the service. We sat at the table of over 20 minutes before a waitstaff person took our drink order. We waited too much for waitstaff. The food was very good as always.
We have dined at P many times. We support the program. The food and service have always been excellent. On this visit, however, the salad greens were wilted and the edges of some were brown with age. That perhaps would not bother some, but to me it showed that if the kitchen was not concerned about this singular, easily prepared part of the meal what attention was being made to other more complicated items on the menu. Also, some of the roasted vegetables were burned almost to a crisp. My wife and I will visit again because we are so dedicated to the program. But quality in small things can ruin the eating experience. The waiter was dedicated to his job and I predict will grow as he acquires more experience.
We enjoyed the Thanksgiving buffet
We went for the Thanksgiving Day buffet. Wait staff was friendly and helpful but possibly stretched. Food was okay but not special--more like cafeteria food. Wine was very good. The value is in helping a good cause.
Wonderful selections at the Thanksgiving buffet. All the traditional plus some new contemporary side dishes. Great atmosphere, service, and the food was delicious!
The food was tasty but not very warm. One of the desserts listed on facebook was not served and the price quoted on facebook was different from what we were charged.
Excellent food and service. Vet modern ambiance. This restaurant helps people develop restaurant careers after having served time etc. It is a wonderful cause and a fantastic experience.
Had Thanksgiving dinner with the family at Providence (second year). Service and food was excellent. Great selection and options for everyone. Went back for seconds on the turkey and dressing... Very attentive staff.
Thanksgiving was my first visit to this restaurant and won't be my last. Nicely done. Great food, well prepared and interesting. Good wait staff. Very pleasant and easy. Supports a charitable cause.

A wonderful meal and great service
Friendly service, but a bit too friendly/chatty. I ordered a medium-rare steak, but it came medium-well. They were quick with drinks and food, and I love the story behind the restaurant. Given that it’s a training program, they’re doing great work!
Everyone should eat here! What a great feeling to eat a nice meal and know you’re supporting people in Winston-Salem who need your help. We had Brussels sprouts, shrimp and grits and DJ’s pecan cheesecake. All three were impressive and delicious! The service is relaxed and very friendly. I HIGHLY recommend Provenance for an enjoyable meal. Try it!
Entire dining experience was superb. Complete staff...reception, servers, chef etc. were exceptional. We were treated as royalty and greatly appreciated the attention. It was a special day for us made more special by the staff being so friendly yet professional. The food, both at dinner and breakfast, was exactly as ordered and the portions generous and delicious. We would certainly return and also recommend Providence to others.
Outstanding food and service. Diverse menu
Yes! From the moment we arrived every aspect was exceptional. We were greeted by happy and friendly hostesses, had our choice of seating, loved the upscale atmosphere, very friendly and warm waiter who explained the program and sourcing from local farms. The food was piping hot when it arrived, waiter kept check and another staff member filled water and answered my questions about the tip. Loved that you explained the program on the receipt!! The food exceeded my expectations and there are no words for the cheesecake. Pricing was excellent, such a wonderful selection on the menu. They made my Moms birthday special by writing happy birthday on her dessert plate in caramel sauce and a candle. We could hear without yelling across the table...so important. I cannot say enough about our experience, and I will be back.
I found the restaurant very nice, the server was very good, the only suggestion I have is that the portions are too big.
We are fighting hunger, yet we throw out enough food to feed all the hungry. Either have small portion items on your menu, or just don't fill the plates to over flowing.
It was an enjoyable dinner and for a good cause. Several members of my party had never been here before. They enjoyed the dinner and liked the concept.
I realize the restaurant may have been short staffed since there was only one server & one other guy helping him out a bit. Our server was very friendly but service took a while. We ordered a bottle of wine and the foil on top was already removed before brining it to the table. Our appetizers (fried green tomatoes & deviled eggs) were good but the wine & entrees were terrible. Scallops with pasta had a terrible sauce on them, inedible. We were just really let down.
In all fairness, it could have just been “one of those days” for the restaurant so I won’t spread the word that it was underwhelming.
Lovely atmosphere , beautifully decorated formal Dining room and table setting, yet modern and simple in design. This would be a great place for an intimate dinner or a group celebration.(kept on the quiet side as all tables are in a centrally located dining area with cozy corners.) Friendly service and delicious food! Per the Manager, the menu choices do change as this is a “Farm to table” concept. The added bonus is that this lovely restaurant works with a hospitality school and benefits Second Harvest Food Bank! We will definitely bring going back!
I will preface this by saying that we came in to eat at 9pm and they closed at 11pm. The service was terrible! Out waiter was not knowledgeable about anything from drinks to the food. He barked at us when we asked for bread which was very unprofessional. The food was not good!

This was a wonderful meal. Cam was awesome and so welcoming. I was the only customer when I went but it was such a beautiful space.
the food is very good. Need more staff on hand for a large event like GNO. And number toppers for tables for staff severing the food order.
Visited Providence for a private party

The restaurant was not prepared for the crowd. We were not told to get our own drinks at the bar. Had to ask another diner. Waited at our table with no menu and no silverware for 45 minutes before our order was taken. Very warm in room we were in.
After ordering food arrived shortly.
Food here is always excellent and it was that night.
I will definitely eat there again but not for a similar event.
I do not fault the restaurant or staff. The event was poorly planned.
Poor management as evidenced by severe understaffing of the restaurant for a special night. It was literally like one server per 50 people. It took two hours to get food. There was no effort made by management to accommodate customers. We only got a concession on the food because we demanded it. Your business is only as good as your management and wait staff. Shame on you Providence
