Everyone should eat here! What a great feeling to eat a nice meal and know you’re supporting people in Winston-Salem who need your help. We had Brussels sprouts, shrimp and grits and DJ’s pecan cheesecake. All three were impressive and delicious! The service is relaxed and very friendly. I HIGHLY recommend Provenance for an enjoyable meal. Try it!
Entire dining experience was superb. Complete staff...reception, servers, chef etc. were exceptional. We were treated as royalty and greatly appreciated the attention. It was a special day for us made more special by the staff being so friendly yet professional. The food, both at dinner and breakfast, was exactly as ordered and the portions generous and delicious. We would certainly return and also recommend Providence to others.
Outstanding food and service. Diverse menu
Yes! From the moment we arrived every aspect was exceptional. We were greeted by happy and friendly hostesses, had our choice of seating, loved the upscale atmosphere, very friendly and warm waiter who explained the program and sourcing from local farms. The food was piping hot when it arrived, waiter kept check and another staff member filled water and answered my questions about the tip. Loved that you explained the program on the receipt!! The food exceeded my expectations and there are no words for the cheesecake. Pricing was excellent, such a wonderful selection on the menu. They made my Moms birthday special by writing happy birthday on her dessert plate in caramel sauce and a candle. We could hear without yelling across the table...so important. I cannot say enough about our experience, and I will be back.
I found the restaurant very nice, the server was very good, the only suggestion I have is that the portions are too big.
We are fighting hunger, yet we throw out enough food to feed all the hungry. Either have small portion items on your menu, or just don't fill the plates to over flowing.
It was an enjoyable dinner and for a good cause. Several members of my party had never been here before. They enjoyed the dinner and liked the concept.
I realize the restaurant may have been short staffed since there was only one server & one other guy helping him out a bit. Our server was very friendly but service took a while. We ordered a bottle of wine and the foil on top was already removed before brining it to the table. Our appetizers (fried green tomatoes & deviled eggs) were good but the wine & entrees were terrible. Scallops with pasta had a terrible sauce on them, inedible. We were just really let down.
In all fairness, it could have just been “one of those days” for the restaurant so I won’t spread the word that it was underwhelming.
Lovely atmosphere , beautifully decorated formal Dining room and table setting, yet modern and simple in design. This would be a great place for an intimate dinner or a group celebration.(kept on the quiet side as all tables are in a centrally located dining area with cozy corners.) Friendly service and delicious food! Per the Manager, the menu choices do change as this is a “Farm to table” concept. The added bonus is that this lovely restaurant works with a hospitality school and benefits Second Harvest Food Bank! We will definitely bring going back!
I will preface this by saying that we came in to eat at 9pm and they closed at 11pm. The service was terrible! Out waiter was not knowledgeable about anything from drinks to the food. He barked at us when we asked for bread which was very unprofessional. The food was not good!
Great service front to back! Atmosphere fabulous & chic! Will be back with friends.
This was a wonderful meal. Cam was awesome and so welcoming. I was the only customer when I went but it was such a beautiful space.
the food is very good. Need more staff on hand for a large event like GNO. And number toppers for tables for staff severing the food order.
Visited Providence for a private party
Girls Night Out sponsored by Forsyth Woman magazine.
The restaurant was not prepared for the crowd. We were not told to get our own drinks at the bar. Had to ask another diner. Waited at our table with no menu and no silverware for 45 minutes before our order was taken. Very warm in room we were in.
After ordering food arrived shortly.
Food here is always excellent and it was that night.
I will definitely eat there again but not for a similar event.
I do not fault the restaurant or staff. The event was poorly planned.
Poor management as evidenced by severe understaffing of the restaurant for a special night. It was literally like one server per 50 people. It took two hours to get food. There was no effort made by management to accommodate customers. We only got a concession on the food because we demanded it. Your business is only as good as your management and wait staff. Shame on you Providence
The food was amazing! Poor waitress was fairly new and was overwhelmed with the amount of tables she had. The table next to us never did get their food until after over an hour wait. Then she was struggling with collecting her checks. She had a beautiful personality and handled things with a pretty level head. Restaurant was clean and well lit, but noise level was high.
Lovely service and quiet enough to actually carry on a conversation without shouting. That was a delight and very uncommon these days.
Wonderful farm to table food.
I was there with two friends who had never been. They were impressed by food and service and will return with other friends. Everyone was attentive and professional. The low noise level is a plus as well as the pleasant atmosphere.
Three friends and I went to Providence Restaurant. Two of us had the scallops, one had fried chicken, and the last had the shrimp and grits. All were excellent, as was our waiter. We'll be back.
This was a great evening outing. I am so glad I took a chance to attend the Low County Crab Boil. The only negative was it took a little time for them to get started. Happily, the food was worth the wait. I plan to dine with them again.
"I have been to Providence 3 times now. Staff was very been very attentive. Dining area tables were not over-crowded. The food was delicious and well constructed and presented. I’ve enjoyed your fresh-made dishes, such as the Harvest Salad, Mahi fish with Pineapple Salsa, and Key Lime Pie. The last visit we brought a party of 7 and all of us enjoyed our meals at Providence. It is refreshing to enjoy exceptional food, so different from the repetitive chain restaurants.
This place is a steady great! Always interesting menu options and cool events. Great service, super nice place!
The decor was so incredible. The Host was amazing. The server was great. Food was just outstanding. Although this is not a complaint at all, the only thing that was off-putting was a guest at the bar - way to loud and she was by herself - she was talking on the phone and it was a bit un-nerving
Overall very good and we will go back. Understand the pricing and the training issues, and the mission. Good to have this info available for your guests. I believe I had seen that you highlight local wines, but did not see much of a selection. Please consider Shelton Wines from Dobson—they are excellent!
This was our first time visiting Providence. They had catered our son's wedding reception and did an amazing job! The restaurant did not disappoint. Our service was wonderful as the waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu choices. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely return soon!
We stayed at the Doubletree and decided it was easy enough to just grab dinner from the "hotel restaurant
. We were pleasantly surprised! This is not your typical hotel restaurant. The food is farm to table and incredibly fresh. The chef thoughtfully created his specials and signature dishes. He even came out to talk to us and see if we needed anything. Our server, I think his name was Marcus, was wonderful. He was attentive, informative and personable. I will be craving the pink snapper special I dined on for a long time to come as my daughter will be dreaming of the shrimp and grits she had. We highly recommend!
Overall the experience we had was good but not great. The appetizers were excellent and the best part of our meal. The entrees again we're good but not great. The restaurant did not have a lot of people in it but service was quite slow at times.
Service was great. Food was okay, but a little pricey for what we got.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, NO ONE HAD A CLUE AS TO HOW TO SERVE, DISCUSS OR HANDLE FOOD. THEY NEED A COMPLETE OVERHAUL. BAD EXPERIENCE. SERVICE UNTRAINED, FOOD LUKE WARM, MANAGER IGNORED EVERYONE. JUST ODD !
The entire experience as a Mother's Day dinner was a vast disappointment. I was embarrased that my mother had such a horrible time. The food was overcooked and cold. I will not return there or recommended it to anyone
Food was great but I just wish it had been warmer. Most of the food was cold and I felt it would have tasted much better if it had been hot.
We visited this restaurant for the Mother's Day Buffet near the end of service time. The food at the buffet was mostly cold even though the heat pods were on. The waffles were tough. We had to ask multiple times for cups and glasses. When we were seated we were left at the table and no one told us where to go for the buffet. We were sat at a table that was far too small for our party even though we had reservations and there were empty tables. Our bill had to be rerun 3 times before it was correct. No one came by to check on us and we had to chase people down or go to the front. The desserts and prime rib were good but nothing justifies the 29.95 price per person. This restaurant is supposed to be for training future restaurant runners, but they obviously need to do a better job.
The experience was not a good one for a special occasion Mother's Day!! We arrived and was seated promptly but we waited for 10 minutes for someone to tell us how the buffet worked.
The the cost of the meal the food was not worth the cost. I do believe that the meal at K&W would have been much better and less expensive. The food was not seasoned well at all and the Huevos Rancheros was not fit to eat, the eggs had harden on top of the dish.
The cost is outlandish especially for children under 9 the amount of food that my grandchildren ate was not worth the high cost.
I do understand what you are doing with First Harvest and this is great but have the cost to reflect the quality of food. I will not recommend or go back to this restaurant again.
Staff was completely overwhelmed by Mother’s Day crowd. Had to wait an unbelievable year long time for a server to even recognize we were there. Thankfully it was a buffet and we could serve ourselves. Food was mediocre at best. Not the Mothers Day lunch we were anticipating. Won’t be back.
The event was for Mother’s Day - we had to flag down a server to order drinks, and the atmosphere was much like a cafeteria. The food was very good, except for the shrimp pasta (shrimp barely cooked). But no salad or fruit. Only two dessert options not counting ice cream. We will not be back.
Lunch there and everything was good, but menu is a bit strange. Employees need to refrain from coming through dining room yelling when people are dining. Not professional. Otherwise, good place and we appreciate their charitable donations to such a worthy organization. That alone would encourage us to return.
No one ever came to our table. We finally decided to go get food and then they took our silverware and napkins, so I had to take from another table, new ones. Then when I went to go get desert they took my silverware and napkins but left other people’s dirty dishes and glasses at our table. Then when we were done someone said you want your ticket. Horrible and expensive for what they offered.
My son and I had a very enjoyable experience at the Providence for Easter Brunch! The food was delicious and the price was very resonable for a holiday brunch menu. My favorite was the lamb and horseradish mashed potatoes! Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. We would come back again and recommend to our friends!
Our family of five enjoyed an Easter buffet lunch at Providence. Excellent variety and delicious food. Highlights were shrimp and grits, bread pudding, roast beef and horseradish mashed potatoes. The restaurant was full and the service was great. Very friendly staff! We look forward to returning!
Our first visit to Providence was a pleasant occasion. The wait time was acceptable given the date (Easter); the food was tasty and the table service was commendable. The only downside was the pricing at $30 per seat unless part of the price was a donation to Providence. Being provided with our checkout - without directions - was too long; no ticket was provided for 20 minutes after plates were taken. The goals established by Providence is not only fitting but consistent with Second Harvest's overall mission to lift up those in need of food & skills.
