Providence Oyster Bar Ratings and Reviews
Unforgettable Meal! I have eaten at amazing restaurants around the world, yet the Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass that I had a few nights ago was, by far, the best meal I have ever eaten! The sea bass was cooked to perfection, it literally melted in my mouth. The risotto, paired so well...it was the perfect combination. Along with the wine and fabulous service, this was one meal I won't ever forget. Book your reservation today!!!
I took my husband to POB for his birthday dinner and we were delighted with everything from the food, service and atmosphere. Will definitely go back. Looks like a great bar, too and we may even go back for lunch and sit at the bar. Surely recommend this gem on Federal Hill
This place is beyond FANTASTIC!! From the moment I arrived, the Sweet hostess greeted me and treated me as if I were the customer they had been waiting for.. I was alone and opted to sit at the bar. Carmela and Adam were amazing and took great care of me!
Now, the food... Began with Oysters Rockefeller, yum! Followed with an outstanding Sea Bass dish that was nothing short of perfect! This was my first time in Providence and I will be back!
I highly recommend PROVIDENCE OYSTER BAR!!!
Excellent experience! Delicious food! Great attentive service! Just one silly complaint, we sat at a booth and it wasn't comfortable because the seat was just a bit too short and seemed to tilt forward just a tiny bit. Weird but manageable for my height, may not be for someone else. This was the first book next to the door. Other booths may be just fine, I won't know until I try another)which I definitely will!
Food was excellent. Service was also very good. We especially liked that the meal wasn't rushed. Would return as there were other items on the menu we would have liked to try. Draft beer selection could be a bit more creative and would have liked to see an cocktail menu.
For our wedding anniversary we were staying overnight in Providence. We were looking for a seafood dinner and read a great review of POB happy hour $1 raw bar(!) No drink specials in RI for happy hour, but the $6 appetizer and bar menu made it a delicious happy hour. Huge bowl of lobster bisque was flavourful and had plenty of lobster chunks. Tasty bay scallops in light tomato sauce with blue cheese dipping sauce was awesome. Kale salad needs to be prepped ahead of time with dressing so that the leaves wilt- we took it home and had it the next day, when it wasn’t crunchy and totally raw. Seafood casserole was just right, and it is classier that they serve red bliss potatoes as a side. Attentive service.
My husband and I went to this restaurant because it had high ratings... and we know why. Waitress was fantastic. She recommended a bottle of wine to go with our meal which went perfectly. We had lobster won tons, tomato/motz/balsamic salad, soup, and lobster roll. Everything tasted great and fresh
We had a wonderful seafood meal. Everything our group ordered was delicious. The seafood was fresh and exquisitely prepared. The scallops were huge and perfectly prepared. I had a lobster risotto with Chilean sea bass which was amazing. The ginger calamari was unique and so good! We also had great service. I called to push back our reservation 30 minutes and it was not a problem. Our wait staff was attentive and friendly. It was a pricey restaurant but well worth it.
The restaurant and food were great. We had the coconut shrimp appetizer. I had the scallops and risotto and mom had the grilled lobster. Went there with my mom while visiting Providence. Wish they would have offered their happy hour specials in the dining room as well as at the bar. We made our reservation for 4:30PM because we wanted to make sure to be back for the Waterfire Full lighting. Mom was a little disappointed because we were never told the specials of the night. I guess that was because the dinner specials didn't start until 5PM, not exactly sure. Our waiter was nice but he seemed more focussed on his "regular" couple that arrived at the restaurant just after us. I can't knock the food because it was delicious but the few things mentioned above kind of spoiled the visit. Would I go there again based on this visit...probably not.
Based our decision on which restaurant to go to because we wanted oysters, but decided to try baked littlenecks as the appetizer, instead. Delicious broth surrounding the hard shell clams made sopping up the liquid with toasted bread all that more delicious. Paella and Cioppino were excellent, large portions of seafood displayed beautifully, well seasoned, too. Tiramisu was perfectly sized to share.
Use the valet parking, it allowed us the luxury of arriving right on time for our reservation.
