Went there over the weekend. The food was ok, but the service was well below average. Our waiter pretty much disappeared. He came back a couple of times made some empty promises for services that he never kept.
Overall, not impressed. Not going back any time soon.
Great food and great atmosphere!! We love seafood & it hit the spot.
Excellent food/excellent service!!
Service was excellent, food was very good
I had a wonderful dining experience for my birthday. Great selection of fresh oysters... great service from Jordan..
Easter dinner started off with a delicious roasted beet salad which was plenty big enough to share. Usually chef's plate swordfish is my go to dish but today I tried the Faroe Island salmon (chef's plate) which was cooked perfectly. Presentation was so lovely I couldn't wait to dig in, and the flavors with the cannellini beans, kale, and tomato just blended beautifully. The grilled tuna was also cooked to perfection with lovely grill marks, again very nicely presented. Saved enough room for the day's sorbet, strawberry champagne, along with decaf cappuccinos. All in all a very memorable and pleasant Easter dinner.
Went to the Providence Oyster Bar for a Easter Brunch. Made a reservation and the table was ready when we arrived. The food was very good. The service was outstanding. Never felt rushed to leave. The waiter's name was Stephen. He was always there ready to get us whatever we needed. Never abandoned, like you do in many restaurants. Overall the experience was excellent.
The food was delicious and the service was great. We went back the next day again.
My Honey came back into town after a few weeks away and I wanted a nice place to take her. The PVD Oyster Bar was perfect all around. Champagne and oysters was a great starter and both of our entrees were perfect. Tiramisu for desert finished it off with a bang.
Stopped for brunch on our way back from Logan Airport. Just what we needed, active but relaxed, bottomless mimosa and an awesome bacon Bloody Mary. Great variety- I had lobster wontons and my husband had a huge plate of biscuits and gravy which they got spot on. Highly recommend!
It was a little noisier than normal, but it _was_ St Patrick’s Day, so that’s to be expected. Food was superb & the service was exceptional.
It was easy to get a table, they have valet parking, and the service was outstanding. However, the food could have been tastier and more inspired. The lobster roll was essentially lobster salad with few pieces of actual lobster, and seafood stew was overcooked. It wasn't a bad meal, it just wasn't great. Considering the price, I wouldn't go back.
Over the last eight years I visited Providence RI many times, and had my eye on the Oyster Bar for some time. I was not disappointed. My daughter, her mother, and I dined there on March 15 and had a wonderful meal and experience. The food and service were very good, food was fresh and inviting, and staff were courteous and professional. I would return and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a great seafood restaurant.
Staff was great at accommodating my special requests for my girlfriends birthday. They went well above and beyond what was needed
Awesome, great food, cocktails and service. Kelly rocks.
Food was great, love how small it is makes it perfect for date night. Service was also amazing.
Just a weekend away with hubby. We heard great things about this place so we made reservations. We read about Appy Hour, so we went earlier to experience that. Oysters and sushi were fantastic. But $15 for a glass of wine that basically cost $15-$18 per bottle took away from any appy deal. So our bill was $60 for 2 glasses of wine each and $18 for appetizers. Just a bit off.
Dinner was very good... and by then we knew water was the drink!
Bottom Line, good food but expensive to have a couple glasses of wine!
First time here. Came for valentines dinner on Friday during lent. Plenty of choices. Food was delicious and drinks were spot on.
We were there late night for Valentine's day and it was amazing. We had the P.O.B sampler along with a Philly roll and the wasabi ginger calamari. Everything was perfect! The raw bar items were fresh as can be expected and a great selection. We will be returning again. Thank you!
Another great meal. Waitress was not as friendly as one would expect, she did not even tell us her name!!!
We were there for Valentine's Day. We loved the fresh seafood and the paella for two. We were delighted with the homemade Tiramisu. Our server was attentive but not intrusive. The manager checked in with us to make sure we were happy...we were. The bar was active and full of patrons...looked a tad crowded, so we were very content at our table. Terrific oyster selection from RI, MASS, and NY.
We were a group of three and had a great meal and an enjoyable experience at POB. Excellent server, food was great... we'd go here again in a heartbeat.
Love love love this place. I come here every year for my birthday with my husband and friends. I look forward to it.
A great ,experience as always
top of the line place everything was great. The baked stuffed lobster is killer
my girlfriend and I dined here for dinner as we were craving oysters! We ordered a bunch of different items- oysters were great as always. We got the lobster wontons which were not good- couldnt taste lobster meat just something with spice in some friend dough. We also got some sushi rolls- several were flavorful and others were bland. I would recommend oyster bar for HH drinks and snacks- not a full dinner.
Excellent experience overall! Would have appreciated the “happy hour” deals at the dinner tables, but great outside of that. Food was delicious!
My daughter and I ate at Providence Oyster Bar on Saturday night. We are from West coast and wanted some Eastern seafood...so we over indulged. Oyster Rockefeller, lobster bisque, calamari and then giant scallops. Our server was excellent. Cocktails - martini and wine!
We loved it!
The food is overpriced for such small portions. The waiter was not the friendliest guy around. Pretty disappointed in general. That's a one time visit for certain!
We were there for restaurant week and ordered the swordfish from the prix fixe menu and it was dry. Bread pudding was dry as well. Service was good and we had a nice booth. Was here a few years ago and food was great. Maybe best not to go during restaurant week.
It wasn't a long wait for the table, that was good. We were sat in the rear of the restaurant, a fair seat. Many times while siting there was a gush of cold air, for which my wife really notice, she had a dress. The food was top shelf, my wife pick here for the sea food, said we had dined to much at Hemingway's, this was a nice change. More attention for dusting, my wife is a clean freak and had
slide her finger on the chair rail and was show dust on her finger tip.
Over all a good night out
Had the Resturant week menu plus extras and and the food and service was excellent!
Great food.Providence Oyster Bar never disappoints.
The oysters were AMAZING!! Our server was very helpful and charming.
We visited POB during our trip up to find a home summer 17. Everything was great and we were impressed with the menu and drinks. We sat at the bar and the staff was very friendly.
We returned In Jan. ‘18 and ordered much of the same items. The drinks were still great, however the same food items were a little lacking. Overall everything tasted fine, but it wasn’t exactly what I thought it was due to me choosing there for the items I fell in love with in the first place.
I’d still recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great find. Word to the wise: there really isn’t a day this place isn’t jumping. Opt for valet and make reservations!
There were seven of us. We all ordered different items. Everyone was completely satisfied with the items and their great flavors.
I love the oyster bar and go often. I was excited to meet my friends new babies at lunch and be out together with a glass of wine. The food was delicious, that bread pudding was phenomenal and I don’t even like bananas in dessert. Our server seemed to dislike us, probably because we’re a table with babies. But oh well, they were quiet and sleeping and mommy’s got to eat too right?
One of our favorite spots when visiting Providence. Great little trendy restaurant with good food, service and ambiance.
Great seafood! Fresh and full of flavor. Noise level was ok. We were able to have a nice conversation and not tell across the table. Our server was excellent and on top of things.
sat at bar attentive bar servers engaging conversations timely service and food quality
