Great dinner and great service! 10/10
The POB is THE Best in RI! My brother is here visiting from WA state as I got married on the 19th and his 60th was yesterday - he and his wife fell in love with it! And too many good thing to list about our server Ryan - a true professional! My loyalty is with POB!

Food was excellent as usual. My daughters and husband's favorite place.
Always such a great experience at Providence Oyster Bar. The servers are very attentive and the food is amazing!
My third time going to Oyster Bar for a weekend brunch. I highly recommend the outdoor seating on a nice day when they've closed off the streets to traffic on Federal Hill. The prices are on the higher end if you opt for any of the lobster dishes (which I highly recommend), but the seafood is excellent, the bottomless mimosas keep coming, and the service has been great all three times. Definitely a place I'll be taking summer visitors from now on, and a good place to splurge with a loved one or friends any time of year.
Adam is a Rock Star Bartender!
We eat out often. One of the best meals I have ever had. The Cioppino had an amazing amount of seafood, by far more than I have ever had with similar dishes. We sat at the bar and Adam and Steve were amazing.
Probably the best oysters that I have had, delicious drinks, fabulous dinner served fresh and hot, and great service. Two times in the same week and loved each time.
The food was amazing! We had multiple people take care of us thru the night, all of which were very friendly, funny, knowledgeable and attentive! The vibe inside was super chill, loved the playlist. The bartender Adam was great! He remembered us from the last time we were there which was very surprising since we didn’t even get to eat at POB, we were on the other side, their sister restaurant! And our designated server, I can’t remember his name sadly, some super handsome young guy, was fantastic as well! Definitely recommending this joint for future customers!
We go because of your Awesome bar staff !
Sat at the bar. Bartenders were great (thanks Trey, Zach and Adam!)
Went for lunch. Appetizers were great!
Food was great! Service was great but drinks were slow- granted it was very busy. Overall enjoyed this place but it was a little hard to hear my date.
This had to be the worst experience we ever had in Providence dining! We have gone to several upscale and casual restaurants in Providence and have had the best experiences & the most amazing food ever! We honestly feel like we were literally robbed! We ordered what they called "Alaskan King crab" leg for $45 for a half a pound! What we were served was a major disappointment. We got the bottom part of some sort of crab that was completely knuckle and claw, and they were very tiny pieces of crab inside that we had to use tiny forks for. The only thing that weighed a half a pound was the shell!
As far as the rest of the meal, we ordered some seafood stew that was all miniature so we really did not need a real fork the entire meal, we had to use the tiny forks to eat everything. They said on the menu that they were clams in the stew, but in reality those were little necks! The manager came over and we expressed our disappointment however we were charged full price for the miniature meal that we were served! The quality of food at this place used to actually be good, they’ve changed their menu into mostly everything fried. We mainly went there for sushi, however, all of their sushi is now made with fried tempura! Why??
But you should never serve a customer something other than what you have explained on the menu and charge as much as they do! Do not dare go to this place or you will feel like you just burned $150! We were still starving when we left too. Had 2 disgusting apps as well that were just basic bar food.
Seafood and sushi was amazing! Wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive
Food mediocre. Not terrible, but no wow factor at all.
Great food and drinks.
Steve and Trae were the best!
We reserved an outside table for our party of three. The Providence Oyster Bar only has about six table outside the front of their narrow and long restaurant, which is quite typical for restaurants in this busy Federal Hill venue. The Federal Hill neighborhood has a prominent role in history and is best known for its Italian American community and abundance restaurants, especially Italian restaurants.
Federal Hill got its name after a 1788 Fourth of July ox roast celebration. The celebration organizers intended to celebrate the ratification of the Federal Constitution by the 9 of the 13 states needed to create the United States. Because anti-federalist sentiment was strong in Rhode Island, General William West led 1,000 armed farmers to Providence to stop the celebration. Eventually, a compromise was reached and the celebrants agreed to celebrate Independence Day only (not the ratification of the Federal Constitution). The issue remained hotly controversial in Rhode Island for two more years until the state finally became the last of the original thirteen states to join the union (Wikipedia).
Today we were simply celebrating a pleasant Saturday afternoon, as two or our party were craving oysters. For our lunches we ordered:
Lobster Roll: $29
Oysters (8): $24
Rhode Island Calamari: $14
Sushi Spicy Tuna Roll: $13
The lobster roll is served with warm lobster, as opposed to the traditional New England lobster roll, and was tasty and substantial, as one would expect from a $29 lobster roll. The oysters were good, though I've certainly had better. The calamari was also tasty, but got soggy after a short while. The tuna roll was good, but not at all spicy. Service was excellent throughout the meal. Total cost was about $115 with tip. Overall we thought the lunch was good albeit not exceptional, but on the pricey side. As the cost increases, so do expectations. Overall we agreed this eked out a four star visit.
Great food and great service!!! The lobster roll with butter was AMAZING
A nice variety of excellently prepared seafood, as well as a nice selection of regional oysters and other shellfish. Service was excellent: friendly, knowledge and attentive without being overly in your face. Crowded, of course, and a bit noisy, but it's well worth putting up with those inconveniences for the great food. Expensive, so maybe a special occasion kind of place, but definitely worth the money.
Thanks for having us. We enjoyed the fresh seafood and oysters especially. We missed that they bo longer have the Chilean sea bass on their menu.
The food was not what we were use to and the service was poor. They use to have the best wings and aps but the wings were the worst wings I’ve ever had... Anything that wasn’t the raw bar was HORRIBLE!!! I can not express how horrible the wings were. I will not be back it cost us $100 for crap food and we didn’t even get drinks.
There was a mix up with my reservation but the manager was so kind enough to accommodate me. He was able to sit me and my friends inside for happy hour even though inside was booked. I was happy with the service and had a great time my friends! Food and drinks was amazing! Thank you Oysters bar! Will be back again..
This place is the perfect spot for the best in seafood, ambiance, and great service. Will never forget our trip to Providence Oyster House!!!
Amazing! As always!
We liked the lobster wontons and the sauce it was served with went well with it. We found the vegetable roll a bit bland for our taste. Oysters are ALWAYS good there. We have never had any there we didn’t like. We enjoy their espresso martinis as well. Service at the bar was a bit crazy. Had to just grab whoever was walking by to help you order verses just one server but, thankfully there was someone walking by pretty often :)
Tray I love you !!!!!
The service and food is always outstanding!
Kaitlyn was a lovely server. We were outside (still playing it safe) and the awning made being outside with the hot sun comfortable. But the loud bikes that run around really make some noise!
Great service and amazing seafood!
My husband and I enjoyed a great dinner. The Alaskan halibut was outstanding. The swordfish with lobster mashed potatoes was also excellent. Warm, friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend!
On a double date night with friends from the Midwest who wanted some NewEngland seafood. Thought we try the Providence Oyster Bar and was not disappointed. It was worth the drive. Great atmosphere, our waiter Rigo was the Best, food and drinks were delicious. Ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell, ciopino, Cobb salad with salmon, sesame seared ahi tuna and baked halibut. Perfect portions, fresh and absolutely delectable. Definitely highly recommend and will return soon.
Love this restaurant. Our server was great...introduced me to a dirty, spicy martini, which is my new fave. We shared a sushi roll which was great! Them my friend and I had the fried oyster dinner. To be honest, it was just okay...the cole slaw didn't have much flavor, and neither did the oysters or the french fries. This is the first time I have ever ordered it, and the first time in all the many times I have been there, that I was not pleased with my dinner choice.
Shrimp cocktail, oysters and sushi were excellent. Salmon was undercooked. Good drinks and service.
The oysters and shrimp cocktail are so fresh and delicious. The cocktail was exactly as ordered. Overall, a wonderful experience and great place to bring an out-of-towner who wanted to enjoy our state's fabulous fish.
Best sword fish I ever had!!!
Happy hour specials also a great deal.
Always an incredible dining experience. Accommodating, welcoming, and just all around stellar. Adam and the other bartenders, along with the kitchen and management provide a+ hospitality, delicious food with great value, keeping us coming back from Boston every few weeks.
We go weekly and took some out of state friends last night and we arrived to find out I only booked for 2 when in fact it was 6..... they accommodated us regardless and the service was as good as the food!!!
