Providence Oyster Bar
Just returned from restaurant week and the food was great. Calamari with wasabi drizzle was sensational and my husband said that the oysters on the 1/2 shell were perfect. For lunch I had the shrimp tacos, 2 with fries and they were crunchy and yummy. My husband had the surf and turf sushi which was large in portion and well seasoned. For dessert we took home the cannoli.
Our server was friendly and attentive and we waited for nothing; everything was well timed, perfect temperature, and never felt rushed.
Total cost with drinks was under $60, so a nice anniversary lunch.
Spectacular food and wonderful service. The bar was pretty busy but it wasn't too rowdy that it took away from the dining room ambiance. Dishes (which were perfectly cooked and well-plated) came out in a timely fashion and our server was very pleasant. It made for an overall great experience. Looking forward to another meal here.
Every dish we ordered was delicious and perfectly proportioned. The service was fabulous and the overall experience was exactly what we were expecting...excellent. Can’t wait to go back!
Took my girlfriend there to try what I assumed to be a good salmon meal. Not only was it ridiculously expensive (for 2 people.. $200) they couldn’t even make a correct red bliss potatoes side. The salmon itself was decent but bland, I was highly disappointed in the quality of the food they let go out of the kitchen. Save the money, go someplace else
We've been to the POB numerous times and are always pleased with the service. The fresh seafood is exceptional. This time we both had the Kale salad, and the $60 raw assortment. The oysters and crab were amazing - I'm not as fond of the raw clams. The bread was good, our waiter was attentive, and my Vodka Gimlet was very good. I ordered it with Rose's, it came with lime juice, but I enjoyed it with fresh lime juice. We will go again.
The Service was the worst!!! Wouldn’t go back there
Such a fantastic place! Everyone from the valet to the server is polite and attentive and always a smile. The food is incredible and the drinks seasonal and delicious.
We had my son's three college friends visiting from Texas and they wanted seafood so we thought Providence Oyster Bar (POB) would be a great place to take them, especially since it's located on the iconic Federal Hill, a must see for first time visitors to Providence. And I have to say POB didn't disappoint, at least not with respect to the food. Everything we ordered was delicious! And although it wasn't inexpensive, I thought it was reasonable given we were ordering lobster and other generally pricey seafood items.
Unfortunately, the service did not fare as well. Our waitress was inattentive and not friendly at all. I don't know if she was having a bad night, but it made our experience a little less than great.
Always a excellent meal. Waitress was great. Highly recommend POB. When on Federal Hill this place is a solid Restaurant...
Great place to eat. I frequent there with my husband on date night
We love this place!! Food is awesome and service is great too!!
This place was great. The swordfish was amazing so was the sesame seared tuna. Our waiter did a great job making recommendations.
Best seafood in Providence and friendly servers. Food is always consistently excellent. Oyster selection is local and fabulous. Can’t get enough of the Oyster Bar!!! Xoxo
Went here for my birthday dinner and had a wonderful meal. The food and service were excellent, as was the wine. My only quibble is that the dessert menu is a bit lacking. Regardless, we'll eat here again.
We had a wonderful dinner 2 weeks prior. This experience was not up to par. The swordfish was not as good as previously and the waiter left a lot to be desired! He went through the motions! Not any more!
The raw bar tower was one of the best that we've ever had! Entrees and cocktails were delicious, our guests could not stop talking about the Cod Bianco. Kelly was knowledgeable and friendly. All in all, a wonderful and memorable evening. Fantastic!
Always an amazing and satisfying experience at POB. I switched up my usual lobster roll and tried the Godfather sushi roll - so fresh and tasty!
Excellent service, quality food. Cozy, upscale atmosphere. Not too expensive and lots of seafood options including raw bar & sushi.
My sis and I stopped in for apps after a day of christmas shopping. Ordered wasabi calamari (B+ very tasty); scallops wrapped in bacon (C only because a little heavy on the maple syrup glaze.. it's very sweet and overpowers the otherwise great dish); and lobster bisque (B+ sis said it was delicious! Be aware a cup is the size of a bowl) All staff were very pleasant and work very well as a team. I noticed all the servers help eachother.. removing dirty dishes.. refills etc. Very impressed by the teamwork!! My rating is a solid B and feel confident recommending to others. I'm looking forward to going back to try other items on the menu that caught my eye!
Food was great, service was great my only complaint is the serving size of ahi tuna was very small.
Food was fantastic as well as the service, manager checked on us twice Erica and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely return to this place.
Excellent service and outstanding food!
The service and the food are AMAZING!!! It has been one of my favorite places to go in Providence. My daughter recently moved to Providence and I go to the Oyster Bar every time I visit!!
POB Never disappoints! The food is excellent, the service is old-school great and the experience is always A+.
I was looking for good seafood. Someone at my hotel recommend this establishment. It was not great but OK and it barely escaped a 3 star as service was also mediocre.
Scallops wrapped in bacon were over cooked. Bacon was burnt on 2 of the 4 scallops. Cauliflower was burnt and sent it back and it was replaced. Signature cocktails were ordered and first one was better than the second. Sorbet had ice chips on it. Tuna and swordfish were delicious. Salmon was good.
Another great dinner, and excellent staff.
We are visiting from out of state and this was our second visit to POB. In short, not much has changed since our last visit 2 years ago. The food was good and the service was outstanding. Felt the crab MRKT price was a bit high, but the quality was good. The Raw Bar has a great selection and everything tasted fresh. We’ll be back.
this is an excellent place for oysters, no need to go any other place.
Another excellent meal!!
Overall good experience. Lobster roll was not as good as I remember it. Waiter was very good except he forgot our truffle fries 😭
Incredible food and service! The restaurant has such a great vibe and it has some of the best seafood Rhode Island has to offer.
Great food, great service. Seafood is out of this world!
Our food was delicious and our server Ryan was great.
One of my favorite restaurants.
Spend your money elsewhere!!! The people that work here were incredibly rude and prissy. You’re better going next door to federal taphouse and kitchen. Way better food, prices and service!! I do give kudos to the manager that came over to us to try and get us to come back. However, i am still leaving this review.
I had some business colleagues in from Austria who had never experienced a really good baked stuffed lobster. They each had a 1.5 lobster and found it amazing. I enjoyed the swordfish special.
Sunday brunch was yum and my bottomless bloody Mary's were great!
We got several small plates from avocado toast with salmon to lobster ragoon
Lots of fun menu choices...something for everyone
It was fun and casual
Birthday celebration with a friend and not disappointed. The food was cooked to perfection. I was there for the fried oysters. Fish and chips I heard from party with us was exceptional. They make the best fries!!!
Food was great, service was good. A little pricey for an everyday place but overall great experience
