Great service, good food.
Came with high expectations but chef let us down. Service was great. Pork chop dry and salmon over cooked. Wine by the glass seemed stale. Overall very average.
Brought clients. Service was slow, food not good, my meal didn’t even come out until 20 min after the others, leaving me not eating, and taking it to go. Serious disappointment.
Where do we begin. Save your time and money and really go anywhere else. The place is clean and set up nicely. Our staff seemed a bit distracted. We sat for about 20 min before our waitress stopped by and offered water. No ask about drinks. We assumed she would come back. We asked another waiter to get her so we could order drinks. The waitress came back with my wife’s Proseco order and it was a closed bottle she left on the table. I opened the bottle and poured it for my wife. Finally another few min go by we order our food. My wife mentions her dairy and cheese issue and verifies the meal she ordered does not have cheese. I order the pork chop. As we wait our drinks are finished and we have no offer of additional drinks. Our food arrives with cheese all over my wife’s dish and my pork chop is raw and under cooked. My wife scrapes off the cheese to eat as I ask the waitress about my undercooked pork chop. The outside tasted amazing. The waitress says she will take care of it and they will comp my meal. I wait about 20 min. My wife’s meal is complete. No added drinks. My pork chop shows up. Looks great outside looks nice. Cut into it , raw again. Except now around the outside of the center, center is cooked well done while outside is raw. Which means likely microwaved after cooking on the grill.
They did comp the entire meal which is nice. The staff is nice. But I’d be cautious.
My girlfriend and I enjoyed a great salad and a wonderful salmon entrée. Craft cocktails were awesome!
We were celebrating our son and daughter in law’s new jobs. It was Sunday evening, so the restaurant was not super busy and they really made the evening special. The food was great and they even comp’d desserts for both of them. Great atmosphere and excellent service. We would go again.
We had a wonderful experience and the service and food was amazing. Beautiful historic hotel location. I would definitely return!
Great food, drinks and service, what more do you need!
Great food and service. Dennis was very good and attentive.
I took my mom here for Mother's Day. Our food was great, try the duck fries, and our server was very attentive.
We went for a dinner before our show, and they fed us and got us out the door. Our group had seven different cocktails and seven different entrees and everybody was thoroughly satisfied. Our waiter was amazing and attentive without being obtrusive. We really enjoyed the whole experience.
The food was excellent and service was great. We had a nice server who was willing to engage and have fun. After theatre we returned for coffee and dessert and even though they were getting ready to close, they seated us, brewed fresh coffee and allowed us to have a nice cap to a fun evening. Well done!
Really enjoyable evening before a show. We'll do it again. Liked the whole experience food, atmosphere, staff, decor.
We just weren’t very impressed with the food.
Great restaurant and food, waiter was extremely versed in the menu and answered any questions we had.
Great food, great service
Food was okay. Service was pleasant but slow. Restaurant was very quiet, which was nice after a busy conference.
The service was poor. Hostess was smacking her gum while talking to us. Chicken dish was over cooked and very dry. Short ribs was almost half fat. Not a good experience.
This used to be a favorite when we went to the Kauffman PAC. Unfortunately, the food and service has declined. I hope they turn it around, because this was truly a gem.
Convenient to Sprint Center. Food is pretty good. Appetizers and salads are good. Service is pretty good. Price is reasonable. Good wine list.
Great location and nice combination of food items. The ambience is great for special occasions.
Very short walk to the Sprint Center where we saw the Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament. Nice quite place were we could eat and talk with friends... Go Cyclones....we'll see you next year.
This was the worst “nice” restaurant I’ve ever been to. The menu suggests this is top of the line dining. It was equally as nice as I would consider Olive Garden. Went for Valentine’s and the Patê was good but the Fois Gras was awful. I figured the entrees would be better. I ordered the Duck Cavetappi and pictured a duck breast on pasta but no. It was ground in to a sauce that was literally had less flavor than hamburger helper. My fiancé ordered the shrimp and grits and the dish was no larger than 3 inches in diameter. It was so small and shallow. You could literally spoon up the oil that was sitting on top of the dish. $150 I’ll never get back.
A very attractive space. Not a large menu, but good food and good value.
We both had the Restaurant Week menu, and it was excellent. We only had about an hour to eat before our show at the Kauffman, and we had plenty of time. They are accustomed to serving a delicious meal quickly when necessary. We like to arrive early and park at the Kauffman with no traffic, then walk to the restaurant. That works out great! Perfect for a Sprint Center pre-show meal too.
The food at Providence was excellent! My wife and I deliberately ordered different items to taste the creative menu we had heard about from Executive Chef Alejandro Diaz. We started with the Kale Salad and Providence Salad both of which were delicious. For our main courses, we ordered the Restaurant Week Flank Steak with crispy potatoes and broccolini and the Pan Seared Campo Lindo Chicken Breast with kettle corn brussel sprouts, savory leek bread pudding, and bourbon jus. While a creative description of food, we trusted the reputation of Alejandro and were delighted with the flavors of both meals. We finished with wonderful desserts including chocolate cake and salted caramel ice cream.
We will definitely return to this restaurant and recommend to all.
Excellent service from staff. Appreciated the complimentary valet parking. Food was awesome! Will definitely go again.
Service was sub-par. We ate there during Restaurant Week and the food was bland.
My friend and I dined there before going to the Kaufman and were quite surprised by the delicious food and great service.
Great service; tasty food in attractive surroundings.
My husband and I have been to Providence several times and always loved it. A friend is visiting from Indiana so we selected Providence to take her to dinner. As usual we were not disappointed. It is Restaurant Week so we chose from that special menu. The flank steak was awesome. Very tender, perfectly prepared, and good size portion. We like the quiet atmosphere so we could catch up during dinner. Service was excellent, and the timing of receiving our courses was perfect. We never felt rushed, which I hate, nor did we feel forgotten. We will be back!
This meal left me pleasantly surprised. When i found out it was a hotel resteraunt, I went in not expecting much. The linguine with poached egg, brussel sprouts, and mushrooms blew me away. The kale salad was a delightful blend of textures, and the butternut squash soup was more savory than what i was expecting. My only negative was the chocolate cake was a little dry, however the pavlova knocked it out of the park. I will be coming back.
Very nice! Only thing is they couldn’t find our reservation but still got us seated. Service was friendly. Food came out quick and very hot. Feta Fritters were awesome!
On 12/31 my husband and our friends were here to dine for my birthday. Our server was a young man who picks up shifts two months out of the year. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks- which were made incorrectly. Our empty salad plates were still on the table when we left- along with our dinner plates of food we didn’t like. Our server was rude and inattentive. We will not be returning. Experienced wait staff is a must!
It was bland, it was an awkward atmosphere, we were rushed through dinner and the place was empty. It was a total bomb for Christmas Dinner. This restaurant doesn’t belong in the Hotel President.
One of the best meals we have had since moving to KC in 2006. Highly recommend.
Appetizer of foie gras was not recognizable as anything I had ever seen. The texture was appallingly gelatinous and the only taste I could discern was something I would describe as "dusky". It was oddly served Boston brown bread.
Second appetizer, Duck fried potatoes were not crisp but had the taste and texture of a baked new potato served with a dipping sauce that consisted of a heavy gravy.
Bison steak with vegetables turned out to be presented as silver dollar sized medallions of dry, over cooked bison randomly (and sparsely) scattered on a plate with vegetables. The vegetables were well prepared but I overheard another diner look at his newly delivered Bison Steak Dinner and also exclaim, "Look at this! I expected a bison steak to be a big piece of meat falling off the plate!"
Only one of 4 diners in our group was pleased with her dinner. She selected the pork chop.
The ambiance of this restaurant was akin to a Denny's without windows. First you are greeted by an inexpensive looking fake wood floor as you march down several steps to the subterranean dining room. There are virtually no softscape features and lighting was dim but cold.
4 dinners 2 appetizers and 4 cocktails totaled $236.00 including tip.
Our server, Abigail, was delightful and the high point of our experience.
Service was slow, our group was a little demanding but felt like we weren’t really welcome by the end.
The food was hot or miss. Couple of the steaks we had to send back. And the shrimp and grits was soupy. Salads were excellent but I wouldn’t go back
