Dinner out with family
Dennis our server was fantastic and the food was amazing ... they even accommodated special requests for the menu and the valet parking was complimentary! Well will definitely be back ! Thank you !
The food, the service and the cocktail list were all great. Menu is a little limited in selection although there was more than enough to satisfy. The only area lacking might have been dessert - the one that sounded most appealing - flaming cheese - was not available.
Went prior to a show, as did many others, and all the staff chipped in to make sure everyone got out on time; the kitchen did an amazing job of turning orders around.
The only reason this review isn't a straight-across 5 stars in all categories was the service. Everyone we encountered was very friendly, which was great. But efficiency and timeliness were a bit lacking. Even so, I'd recommend this restaurant.
Arrived at 5:45pm for dinner, going to a show at 7:30pm, restaurant was not very crowded. An hour passes, every one in the place has been served even guests that arrived after us. Food was promised earlier but never came. We ordered Mac n cheese and a burger- simple enough. Had to leave for our show hungry and still no sign of dinner. We will never go back. Very disappointed as when we were seated the server asked if we were going to a show and indicated speedy service. Fail.
Good food, good service but not overbearing. Very cognizant of the fact many of their patrons have theater reservations and do a good job at getting the food items out in a timely fashion so one doesn’t feel rushed.
Great for special occasions. Comfort food and great service.
This place is not worth your time or your money. We went to the one in KC, MO. The food portions are very small. I counted 7 green beans, 1 broccolini, and the meatloaf about 3 oz. We were given a Happy Hour drinks menu, so we ordered some cocktails. However, when the bill arrived they charged us full price for the drinks because Happy Hour was only for the patrons seated in the bar area. We couldn't understand why they brought us the menu in the first place. The service was also slow and there were only 6 tables of customers. I left hungry. I feel the only reason this place is still in business at the Power and Light district is because it's in a hotel. For the same type of food, i suggest Yard House. Make a reservation, though. It's busy, but you'll be happier.
Service was good. Food was ok, but nothing special. Portions were very small. An $8 dessert had about 2 tablespoons of food. Too expensive for what you get.
Service was a bit slow, but they were fairly crowded. The crowd also made it quite noisy. But the ambiance and food was good.
As a vegetarian, it would have been nice to know that they only seemingly vegetarian dish was served in a chicken broth. Secondly, our waiter proceeded to bring the entire table drinks after half of us specifically stated we were interested in seconds. That is certainly one way to raise the tab. Overall, it was a huge disappointment and we won't be returning.
Service was wonderful, but the food was lacking. Mostly overcooked which was disappointing considering it wasn't very busy and should have been easy to get things out on target. The porkchop was the only saving grace. Meatloaf and Salmon were overcooked. Shrimp and grits were chewy and dry (Meat) and too runny grits. The scallops were cooked well but not sure what the corn side was kinda like eating hard seed corn...
Food was totally over priced, bland, small portions and no flavor. Service was outstanding though!
great food, great vibe, great service!
Excellent service. Excellent bourbon and whisky selection. Very attentive waitress and host.
The space is nice with cozy atmosphere. Our server, Dennis, is a pro with good, helpful suggestions and very upbeat and friendly. One item requested was not available at the time we were there (5:30). We ordered the flaming cheese for dessert and he came back as that was lso not available. They comped us a dessert so we ordered the Lemon Ice Cream Soda. It was very light and refreshing. I would definitely order it again. There are other items I would try so I would return
Friendly service. Good cocktails and yummy meatloaf. Large booths for intimate conversations.
Love this restaurant! Food is different, interesting and delicious! Our waiter was wonderful--attentive but not too attentive! Overall a lovely experience.
Food was good, but service was very bad. Manager Jan was playing hostess, and started us off with a false wait. Had a reservation, but stood in the lo by for 10 minutes staring at open tables. Once seated, waited another 10 minutes for server to visit. Her name was Jolene and she was a mess as well. Didnt introduce herself, and wasn't great. Pressed her body onto me every time she reach for something on the table. Didn't clear anything from the table and expected me to bus the table for her when my entree arrived. Said "I'm not an octopus.". Like I was the jerk. She really didnt get it. After finished, waited 10 minutes to find her to get the check. Do not recommend.
Poor selection of items. Overpriced. Way too many other options in the area, will not be back. The server was great and it's not his fault that management has such poor understanding of bringing value to their customers. There is nothing about this restaurant that tells me I want to spend $40+ starting point for a meal. Absolutely ridiculous!
This is an attractive restaurant which does not seem to “have it together “. The food would have been good if it had been served warm. There were only three groups in the room, but it took a long time to get our food. The server did deduct 15%, but I will probably not return.
From the cheese board we started our evening with to the s’more desert complete with graham cracker ice cream and marshmallows, everything we ate was full of flavor, colorful and so so good. We will definitely be back!
Everything was awesome!
Really good place to go before a show at the Sprint Center.
When you order a drink like a scotch on the rocks, they charged me $8 for the drink and $1.00 for the rocks! Thought that was kind of bad
We enjoyed dinner before a concert. Received excellent service and wonderful food. The Shrimp and Grits were delicious with just the right amount of spice. The Salmon was cooked perfectly and the candied pecans were a highlight according to my dinner companion.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience! Caution to people with nut allergies- the bread in the basket contains nuts.
Food as great, waiter was great but we were the ONLY customers in the entire place the entire time. Eerily empty. Suggest specials to attract customers.
This place is located in the Hotel President in Downtown KC so the prices are a little higher but typical for the area. The menu is limited but still has a variety of choices for everyone. We had the Ribeye and the Meatloaf entrees which were delicious along with all the vegetable and potato trimmings. The lamb and kale soup starter was also very good. The traditional cocktails from the Drum Lounge were unique and gave a feel for the history of the place.
Was a bit disappointed because due to the NCAA Basketball they were not offering their full menu. But good and dine was good, just wish there was more options
Won't be back. Food was OK, nothing special however Dennis our server was great. Major complaint was the $30 it cost to park in the hotel parking garage just for dinner and then I'm charged for ICE in my drink. That's right....$1 for "on the rocks". Charging for Ice, really Providence? Never again, too many other options where they don't stick you with ridiculously high parking charge and where ice is free.
We enjoyed lunch before the Big 12 finals. At times we were the only people eating in the dining area, so rather quiet. The waitress was very attentive (especially since she served only two tables during our lunch). Overall the ambience was okay and the food we order was very good and priced well.
Host and wait staff were nice, bar staff forgot wine until I was half way through my steak. My wife got her drink within mins. Food was on a limited menu due to events going on downtown, but the place wasn't very busy. Dishes we wanted to try we saw online were not offered when we were there. I ordered my Rib-eye steak Medium Rare. It was more than well done. Baked potato looked amazing, did not taste half as good as it looked. Wife ordered pasta and only took 2 or 3 bites. Was far too oily.
We made the mistake of eating there during the Big 12 tournament. Slow service, abbreviated menu, no valet parking was directed to self park for $40. They should have contacted us with how they were handling things during this time. We were not attending the bb games several blocks away!!!
A hidden gem. I just wish I knew that it was attached to the Drum Room. We could have saved a lot of time and GPSing if we had made the connection. Almost missed our reservation.
We choose Providence - New American Kitchen every time we attend a theatre performance at the Music Hall. It is always very good as far as service and quality of food. This time we were disappointed in the food. We don't know if it had to do with all the additional customers due to the basketball games or what, but the quality was not what it usually is. We don't want to complain, just want to give back constructive feedback. We will difinitely be coming back again. 😊
Fantastic meal and service, highly recommend
Nice homey restaurant in the President Hotel. Waitress was cheerful and knew the menu well. Loved the charcuterie plate with unique flavors. The Patsy was a fun drink!
Perfect as always. Everything is better here. Order and share.
For the price, I was expecting just...more. Not necessarily more food, but more attention to atmosphere, more professionalism (and just...positivity?) with the serving staff. The food was excellent. We experienced some new flavors that were pretty incredible (the salmon was exquisite--the beet hummus was probably the best part of the whole meal--and the pistachio ice cream sandwich was surprisingly good!). Perhaps the restaurant is intended to be experienced as an extension of The Presidential Hotel, which seemed pretty upscale based on our two-minute wait in the lobby while valet brought the car around.
Food took forever then was just “ok”. Meatloaf was very dry. Burger was meh. No plan to return.
