When spending the night visiting the Albany area, we like to make part our get away, dinner at Provence. Service was very good, food was great, nice relaxing evening. After visiting this restaurant four or five times, it may be time for them to change up their menu a little and start adding some new items.

Valentine’s Day dinner
Despite that the restaurant was very crowded our service and meal was excellent! Our server was very organized and attentive.

Valentine's Day dinner with special menu and very nice atmosphere (jazz trio). They do special occasions well. Good but rather standard menu, more generally continental than French bistro.

Provence is clearly a very good pick for date night. Service was great, the food choices were varied and beautifully presented with outstanding taste. We were there on a Saturday, so it was busy . There was live music ( frankly, the little combo performance was not very good, but it was ok for background noise) and my husband’s water glass didn’t get filled enough, but other than those minor things our experience was very pleasant. From appetizers to dessert, we were very happy with the food.

This is one of our favorite restaurants when we want to have a nice dinner without worrying about the cost. Previous dinners have bern pn morecquiet evenings but even so the service is always top notch and the menu has a wide range of choices from tapas salads great soups & apps to full course meals. Cocktails are always perfect and the wine selection is excellent. This particular evening the restaurant was totally booked. We had a cozy booth table in the back of the restaurant and a great waiter. My husband ordered the special risotto and I had risotto with filet. It is one of my favorite dishes and the chef is kind enough to prepare it for me with filet as I do not eat seafood. Saturday night I was very disappointed to find that my green beans were ice cold, risotto Lukewarm, steak was cooked perfectly but not hot enough. Our waiter offered to warm it up for me but I did not want my steak to be overcooked or the risotto to soggy or my husband feel he had to wait for my meal to come back as his was prepared perfectly and served hot – so I declined. He did speak to the chef and the manager apologized several times and gave us free desserts. In our opinion the meal should’ve been free as that was what was not prepared properly. I realize they were busy -I expressed to our waiter perhaps that was the reason my dinner was set aside and allow to cool off too much. Although he agreed with me we both know that’s not an excuse for a fine dining restaurant. I was going to speak to the manager however I did not want to make a scene as they were very busy when we left at 8:30. We highly recommend provence - this was one time in a dozen dinners we have enjoyed there that things did not turn out perfectly. Try it out by sitting at the bar or bar area, have a little something to eat, cocktail or fine wine and listen to the quartet and singer-very enjoyable.

The food was great - especially the Scallop Risotto & the Flourless Chocolate Cake. Service (Karen) was a fantastic waitress. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Would definitely return. There were 2 large groups near by, but overall it was still quiet enough the 2 of us could talk & hear each other without a problem. Highly recommend.

My husbands strip steak was delicious but my risotto had zero taste to it. My meal was taken off the bill so in my eyes they made it right and I will be back to hopefully have a better meal.

Service was terrible - waited a long time just to order a drink. We ended up placing our meal order with the drink order. We would have sent back food which was luke warm but our server never stopped to see how our meals were. We were very disappointed and will probably not return to this restaurant.
