The food wasn't bad, although it felt very pre-made and was missing any subtlety or depth; it was basically the equivalent of Olive Garden. Our waiter was excellent. We could barely hear each other over a large party that was nearby. Overpriced for what was essentially a mediocre meal. The manchego wedges were maybe the highlight of the meal - fried, breaded cheese wedges - could easily have been an Olive Garden specialty. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great. There must be a better option for good French food than this strip-mall experience. It's directly across the parking lot from TGIF - this was a step up, but barely.
Everything but one dish was good. The pricing seems a bit high for the quality. The crab cake small plate was ridiculously small. One entree was not good but they waiter was quite nice and got okay from manager to delete from the bill. The food was good, the quality was good- but for the price it really should have been great.
This was my first time there for dinner and I picked Thanksgiving Day for it. There was a prix fixe menu with a good variety of options for those not wishing turkey. The food was imaginatively prepared and the service was first rate. Our server was very knowledgeable. There was a jazz combo in the bar.
Provence has been a favorite dining place for all my family. However I know from experience that dining on a holiday is iffy meaning a limited menu. I enjoyed what I ordered but the duck was a bit "chewy" and the sweet potatoes not quite cooked through. I understand the holiday kitchen is a bit hectic and chaotic and I think overbooked which explains that but we still enjoyed the day.
Nice atmosphere and very well arranged. However, the cost for the serving size of food was way out of proportion. Maximum cost for minimum portions, dressed up in 'larger than average' serving bowls and plates to create an illusion that portions were larger than they actually were. Food was good, but not memorable. Probably not likely to return due to pricing.
Friends and I often choose Provence for special occasions. It is such an elegant restaurant, it's great for celebrating. Seems special. We hadn't been there is a while and were glad to find that the standards were still as high and the food quality was really great. Everyone was delighted with their choices. Thanks to Provence for maintaining their high standards and being so accommodating. A lovely evening. And thanks for properly training the wait staff to be unobtrusive! Just right!
For our annual birthday fete, we chose Provence for food, location and ambiance. All were very satisfied with menu selections and preparation. L'agneau perfect, poisson delectable, salmon and Coqulles St. Jacques very delicious. Service was very personable. Excellent wine suggestions As well. We had some fun with a little conversation 'en francais' during the meal. A lovely time.
Service was really slow and we were not in any hurry. I always think they need to learn to bring drinks quickly as one is always thirsty upon arrival. The food had some really great flavor combinations but the lobster was overcooked and the duck had that rubbery skin that you don't get in France. The dessert pastry was not cooked and the lemon curd was out of a jar for sure. I also think it is unnecessary to charge 4 times the going rate for wine. Wish there was a real

Nice atmosphere for a date. Service was excellent, possibly because there were only a few other tables being served at the time we were there. Waiter was very friendly and attentive without hovering around us. Entree was tasteful and presented well, but sides (mashed potatoes and veggies) were almost cold, as if they had been on the plate a long time before the entree was added.
Provence consistently provides fine dining. Food is nicely prepared and plated attractively. Service is attentive without being annoying. Noise can be a problem when the restaurant is crowded. On the night we ate there a party of seven was seated near us as we were finishing our meal. This party of seven was already pretty loud when they were seated because they had been drinking. They only got louder after they were seated as they continued drinking.
I have previously dined at Provence over a year ago and had a positive dining experience. I will not be returning after my recent visit. The wine I wanted was not available. A similar wine was substituted. I ordered a shellfish dish and half of my clams and mussels were not open and I had to send my dish back. The waiter removed the bread from the table when I wanted it to dip into the broth from my meal. There were multiple flies around the table. The dessert was to be desired. I wish I hadn’t bothered. The waiter was very nice and attentive but overall not happy with the dining experience.
Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. It was so warm, we were able to sit outside, where it is much quieter. On a Saturday night in October, no less! Our only gripe is that although we told them beforehand it was our 40th wedding anniversary, they didn't do anything special to mark it.
Absolutely fantastic meal. Friday night dinner with two good friends and all three of us were thrilled with the dining experience at Provence. We were seated promptly, and enjoyed listening to the quartet playing music at the front of the restaurant. We were seated in the rear section, ordered a nice bottle of pinot grigio. One friend started with escargot and loved how it was prepared. I ordered the special tuna dish which was so yummy I cannot wait to return to order it again. My other friend had the salmon which she said was fantastic. The three of us shared the beignet dessert - divine. Our server was friendly, and efficient. Two thumbs up!
We started with entrees of goat cheese salad and a charcuterie plate. Both were stunning as were the mains of duck and scallops. The scallops are big and succulent and cooked too perfection. The duck was confit. The dark meat was included in a cassoulet as a side dish that was soooo memorable. In fact the highlight of a 10day tour of New England. Jamie our waitress was informed and friendly and gave us great tips on forward travel plans.
The old blokes playing jazz in the foyer topped off a great night along with the single malt poured by an entertaining barman.
Ambiance and food are always wonderful. But there was a 5 person musical group in the entranceway which was too loud for that small place. We were thankfully seated at the back of the restaurant, so it wasn't a serious problem. But it is off-putting when you expect a quiet date night with your spouse.
Sorry to say the food at this restaurant has gone downhill over the past couple of years. It's not terrible, but it's not particularly good either. There are better places to eat. The decor is beginning to seem dowdy and dated as well. Server did a very good job given how many tables she had--no complaints there. It's not likely that we'll be going back.
We went there because it the place we would have preferred was booked late and this was a last minute reservation, Open Table recommended this restaurant based on our first choice. The food and service was excellent. The only qualifier was that we rated the noise level as quiet because we chose to sit as far from the live trio as possible. That's not a knock on the trio. It's just that my wife and I wanted to be in a place where we could converse.
This is the second time I've been to Provence and I had the same experience both times. The food is exquisite! I had the lamb rack and it may be one of the tastiest entrees I've ever had. I had truffle fries for an app and they were delicious as well.
Here's the bad news: For being a higher end restaurant, I'd expect to have higher end service. Both times I went (and I had different servers) it took close to 20 minutes to get my first cocktail. Another 15 minutes passed without even seeing our server. It was so bad I had to get up and ask the host. (Which I never do!)
Overall: I would recommend it and I would go again simply for the food! But beware of very slow service! When I go again I will get a bottle of wine so I do not have to try and flag my server for a new drink. I expect to wait for good food, not for drinks.
Provence did not have the chardonnay listed in the wine list on their website. The replacement chardonnay was nowhere near its equal, and the waiter made me wait an inordinately long period for it. He wound up not charging me for it. I had a rack of lamb that was okay, but it was the smallest portion (four small ribs) I have ever seen in any restaurant.
