Provence Marinaside Ratings and Reviews
Frog legs and grilled seafoods were awesome for start. Lobster was nicely done and seasoned. We went on a Thursday night so it wasn't busy. It's quite and atmosphere was nice. Wines could be a bit higher prized than some of the other places but we found it acceptable.
The door was opened to us by the hostess informing us they were “fully committed” for the evening (before) she asked if we had a reservation or not. We informed her (we had a 5pm reservation). Her demeanor didn’t change after hearing we did indeed have a reservation. She was flat out rude. Thankfully, our server was polite and funny and saved the dining experience so we didn’t leave with a complete bad taste in our mouths from the restaurant.
This is one of my favourite eateries. I especially love going for brunch in the summer, sitting on the patio, drinking in the beauty of our city, and people watching. The eggs benny (whichever flavour you choose) are amazing ... I don't know how they get the eggs so perfect!! Thank you for awesome experience. I especially want to send a shout-out to Liz. She's my fave server.
Very good. The food is outstanding and the service was first rate. This is a very good restaurant and we will certainly come back. Terricic seafood but lots of other choices as well. Our group of 6 all had great starters and mains. The wine list is good and the service very friendly and knowledgeable. A lot of successful restaurants get lazy, but Provence Marinaside has kept their standards high.
We made an early dinner reservation in order to make a show (Cirque du Soleil). The decor was tastefully done for the holidays. The original table we were going to be seated at was a little crowded and the hostess was happy to move us to a table with a little more space. We ordered the mushroom ravioli (a favourite of mine) and the scallop appetizer (for the first time) The mushroom ravioli was amazing as always and the scallop dish was also very good.
I reserved a table for my mom & dad’s 50th anniversary date. They went to the Cirque du Soleil show first & the show ran longer than advertised so we had to call to get Provence to hold the reservation for 15min. The lady who answered the phone could not have been kinder about it. The following day at the big family party, my parents raved about both the food and the service. Apparently my mother’s dish came with a side of parsnips, which she absolutely despises, so the kitchen sent out some smoked mash in their place, which she appreciated. Then they brought out the lovely creme caramel desserts with the Happy Anniversary message (pictured), which also touched my parents!
With a fantastic location and great staff this was a perfect spot for a memorable lunch with
friends from the east coast showing off our great west coast. A tasty light lunch was enjoyed
by our foursome served by an exceptional waitress.
After making a reservation some time in advance, and being an early one at 5:30, I was rather disappointed when the host brought us to the corner, chair back to back with the table behind us, the restaurant was over 80% empty at this point in time. I did ask for another table, but it was right at the server station...back and forth from the server, it was disruptive during dinner. OH well, the food was tasty, and that was all we really came for as we had a concert to be at.
Arrived from Toronto a bit early and was starving. Had originally booked a 730 (1030 EST) reservation but they found me a table earlier at 6pm. (I didn't account for the 3 hour time diff and figured we'd be okay for regular dinner time). Wine was good and servers were very knowledgeable, and suggested some good wines for our dinner. Our mains were delicious and french loaf was warm and tasty.
Service was poor. We sat down, our server came, she gave us the menu and we asked for water. She said yes to it but for a good 10 minutes she didn't bring water to us. We had to ask another lady to bring us water, and after that, our server brought us water without saying a thing. We got very little amount of service from her throughout the night. Also, for our appetizer dish, the servers just gave us the plate and didn't explain the food at all and just walked away. We did the Taste of Yaletown Menu with wine pairing. The appetizer was relatively plain, arugula was just seasoned with olive oil, and topped with a piece of smoked trout. The duck was a bit greasy, thankfully they had pickles to pair with. However, the flavour was relatively bland, it needed some more flavours/spices/herbs. the tomato with cheese...the cheese was cut too big and when I bit into it, the centre of it had no taste, and actually taste a bit watery. The entree was good, the bouillabaisse was nice, though the scallops was bland, but overall a good dish, especially with the cream sauce, cheese and croutons they provided to pair with the dish. The dessert was quite old school, which was fine, the problem was with the dessert wine we got paired with. The dessert was much sweeter than the dessert wine, so it renders the wines tasting sour and astringent even. The wine paired with the appetizer and entree were relatively good. When we asked for the bill and the machine, our server came to us with the machine, so I was handing over my card...and she walked right past me without saying a thing. We then found out that she was doing another table's bill first. That was just plain rude. She could have just told me to wait and that she needed to do another table first. I was completely ignored. I will NOT come back to this restaurant if the service does not improve.
Service was slow and food was okay. One of the fresh oysters had a funky taste, I'm just glad I didn't get sick from it. . No we were not there for Taste of Yaletown, we paid full price for our meal and drinks. Not complaining but it was a one time deal for me as the experience was less than satisfactory.
French food dimension right in a relaxed, waterfront atmosphere. Abundant selection of seafood fare on the menu while beef lovers are left with more limited options. The restaurant was quite busy so service was less than stellar but overall the experience was above average and would recommend.
