of California’s wine country to Eastbluff Village Center. This is an exciting new restaurant concept that focuses on bringing seasonal, local and responsible fare to the community. We are ingredient driven, everything is made from scratch, and we use only fresh, seasonal and local ingredients of the highest possible quality. Those ingredients that are not from our garden are sourced from a network of small-scale producers. We believe that sharing emotions with the customer is what cooking is all about. Our kitchen at Provenance unites tradition and modernity and we have a deep respect for our product and our guests. We are going back in time with our own garden, and the experience is just about as local and as natural as you can get...Come in and sample Napa Valley here in Newport Beach!
Super noisy becuase another table brought a barking dog in the restaurant. Not what I wanted to experience at all. Service was meh at best and the food wasn't anything special. Really upsetting I spent so much money on a bad meal with terrible ambiance. The staff was upset about the dog and we're actually complaining to me about it! What even? Don't allow dogs in your restaurant then! I wouldn't have come if I had known about it.
Had no idea what to expect. Incredibly and Wonderfully Suprised. Food was Excellent, Ambiance was charming and staff very attentive. Perfect choice.
Great Food and service. Francisco was a great and funny waiter, the Sommelier was also great. As usual the food was great and the gratis birthday dessert for my wife was delicious and appreciated. Thanks!
The restaurant is an open room with the bar on one side (with TV), and tables spread throughout. There is a nice garden patio outside. We picked the restaurant for a nice quiet, romantic setting (reviews online). It started out quiet, but as the room filled up it got so loud I couldn't hear the person across the table from me. The food and service was outstanding, everything cooked to perfection and plated beautifully. If I ever came back, I would sit outside - it looked like it would be much more quiet.
It is a great neighborhood gem - food is always good and fun to go whether you sit inside or out. I always feel like I far away from home when we go - an escape! One of my favorite places to host a party!
We went to this restaurant for Mother’s Day. The service was horrible and the food came out raw! Another person at our table ordered the short ribs and it was 80% fat and the rest was a little bit of meat. We did not get any apologies at all instead we got a sarcastic manager that was extremely rude and made our time there horrible.
Food has always been good but has gotten even better!
It took us 45 minutes to be seated, 30 minute were spent at the bar with Michelle where she served us room temperature Chardonnay with a side of ice. A SIDE OF ICE.
The manager simply said “Thank you for telling me,” and followed us and waiting to hold the door open for us as we left.
The Mother’s Day menu was a pre-fixed 3-course menu, and you can tell by the quality and presentation that they were all just mass prepared. Our plate weren’t cleaned off before leaving the kitchen. The scallops were rubbery and chewy. The Brussels spouts were heavily salted. The crab-cakes were just dense. And what was suppose to be filet medallions came out as filet slices.
I generally don’t leave reviews ever, but my point is that the food was not even enough for me to come back and on a less busy day to give the restaurant another try.. to see if my initial experience was just because the bar was short staffed and/or Michelle was having and off day.
Beautiful atmosphere and decor. We had a lovely Mother's Day brunch and it exceeded our expectations.
I have dined at Provenance several times now and decided to take my mom and family for Mothers Day. We sat outside which is always lovely, among the herb garden. The Four course meal was superb, starting with their muffins, which I do have to admit were not as good as previously but the butter is to die for. Second course I had the caesar salad, a small portion but definitely more than enough food. I chose the crab benedict for my main course, always super yummy and of course the dessert bar has an assortment of everything for every palate. Great ambiance, service and of course the food. My mom loved it and so did the family. cheers!
We went for Mother’s Day brunch, so our experience may have been atypical, but the service was poor. It seemed like a server had called in sick at the last minute.
They ran out of high chairs even though we’d reserved one, so my one year old had to sit on our lap the entire meal. Then they forgot my child’s meal. Finally, they allowed all of the plates to pile up throughout the meal, leaving little space on the table. We’d been there before for brunch and loved it, but this time it just seemed like they were concerned with table turnover and making money. The manager and chef both walked near our table and never spoke with us or seemed to notice the stacks of plates that had accumulated.
We had reservations for 9:45, but the restaurant didn't open until 10. Instead of admitting their error and addressing the crowd, they simply locked the door. Food was overpriced and mediocre. The desserts were less than mediocre. The waiter was polite, but the hostess was rude. I won't be returning.
Great food and ambiance
Another wonderful meal in one of my favorite restaurants. So glad I spent my birthday there. Great food and perfect service.
A favorite lunch or brunch. Fresh, excellent food.
Fabulous, will come again
From the minute we (party of 6) walked in to the restaurant I was surprised with the genuine lack of customer service. We waited at least 5 minutes to be greeted. Staff walked by and nobody even said hello. Finally a woman came asked if we needed anything??? Really? I said yes we have a reservation. She asked our name and then just said yes. She walked to us to a table where we waited for her to come back with menus for another 5 minutes. She only had a few and had to come back again with the rest. Then we waited for the server to show up which took another 10 minutes. He took drink orders and then came back after a while with a few of them. I told him we had a birthday. He didn't smile and wasn't very friendly. We said we were ready to order but he said he had to get the rest of the drinks first. Came back a bit later with the rest of the drinks. FINALLY, we ordered. He brought back some bread and then we waited with empty drink glasses for 40 minutes for our food to arrive. He didn't come back to say anything to us during that entire time. Not sorry about the wait or the food will be here soon. nothing! Someone else brought our food out. The server came over to ask if everything was okay. My order was incorrect. I was missing a side dish. After I was finished eating the rest of the food my side finally showed up. The server came back after a while and asked if we wanted refills on drinks... I mentioned that we had a birthday again... he said yeah, that's gonna take awhile so that's why I am asking if you want refills. He came back 10 minutes later with a piece of cake, said happy birthday without a smile or anything and walked away. Check requested and that took awhile, too. VERY SLOW, not very friendly.. will not return or recommend ever.
This is literally one of the worst restaurants in Newport Beach, if not all of California. Basically, almost everything was horrible. From the hostess that took over 10 minutes to just come to greet us, to the other 10 minutes she fumbled while "looking for menus," to the fish that was not fresh, tasted like ammonia, and was clearly spoiled, to the manager that gave us attitude when we could not eat the vile tasting food, it was a horrendous experience.
If you follow my reviews, you know that I eat out a lot and am very fair. Trust me when I tell you that this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. The service was terrible: Couldn't get water and plates and silverware to arrive in an orderly and timely manner, plus the hostess and manager were either incompetent or rude. Worst of all was our fish: It had spoiled. It was not edible.
The restaurant was full and most of the tables were waiting for food. I'm sure our disappointment was shared by many that night.
Could have just been a bad night for the restaurant when everything went wrong. Judging from other reviews. it seems like other people enjoy this establishment. As for me, I won't ever be back nor would I ever recommend it to anyone.
Spent over $ 200.00 but wanted $ 3.00 to change vegetables to pasta for main course.
Only giving 3 stars as they’ve changed the biscuits to a savory snack. They now add herbs and especially garlic which I’m allergic too. So bummed they don’t offer the old ones still....
It must have been an “OFF” night as nothing went well! Food was cold, the waiter spilled salad dessert all over me! Not a good night!
I love the garden here. It is wonderful to sit outside and enjoy the vegetables and flowers that are growing right next to your table. I had a salad and some of the lettuce was brown and wilted so I could not eat all of it. The tomatoes were not sweet and the avocados were mushy. My friend had minestrone soup and it was thin and bland. She needed salt and pepper to enhance the flavor. The waiter was very blasé and did not seem to care about our food issues.
birthday dinner with friends. lively venue. love history of chef serving grandma’s recipes (and her gorgeous vintage stove at the entrance). we enjoyed every bite, especially the lamb chops. next time come earlier and sit in the garden for a mellow meal.
Truly wonderful food and excellent service! The space is beautiful if, on a busy Saturday night, a bit too loud. Still, a wonderful date-night spot and treat. The special (a New Zealand sole) was exceptional and the service was just exquisite.
Service was okay. Food was less than. Went for a birthday dinner and were very underwhelmed. Their marketing team does a great job though, website and Instagram make the food look great. Sadly it wasn’t actually great.
Had dinner. We sat inside but with both doors to their patio open, it was freezing cold. Made it very uncomfortable. The tables are too close together. Waiters bump you when moving between tables. The noise level was too high. With everyone speaking loudly to be heard, you could hear everyone's conversation. Not a place to go for a quiet, romantic or relaxing meal. The food was delicious. Their sole was amazing! So praises for the chef, he saved the evening.
Provenance is a great experience. The food is always delicious. Book a table on the patio for a great experience.
We sat outside which, with the heat lamps, was comfortable - we did not need a sweater even on a cool evening. Brussell sprouts and oysters for appetizers were outstanding and my Branzino with crispy skin was perfect. A great spot for a business dinner or entertaining friends. There is a smallish room in the back, one table, that would be great for an evening if you need more quiet for a conversation.
Very yummy, beautiful restaurant and the service was wonderful.
Awesome Easter brunch! Kids loved as well.
A hole in the wall next to Ralphs.....with an amazing vision for fun dining!
I enjoy reviewing our restaurant visits hoping those reading them, will get some insight and in turn help them decide..Our visit to Provenance, might be my most difficult to review. I'm faced with the dilemma of appreciating the quality of the food and not enjoying the style. Let me be more specific. Where they bill themselves as, as an Italian restaurant, in reality, it's an eclectic combination of California cuisine with a noticeable Italian foundation. This is wonderful, for those devout to California cuisine, but like me - fail the authenticity of Italian cuisine. Let me give an example. I ordered short rib Stroganoff, which is a stretch to begin with, but was curious. What came out, were tasty noodles, tiny amount of short ribs pieces, small hard chopped up onions, smothered in mushrooms, lacking enough sauce to cover anything but the top and a micro dollop of sour cream, that reminded me of what I ordered was stroganoff. Well prepared ( except for the hard pieces of onions), yes- fresh ingredient, yes,- creative, yes- but stroganoff, no-Italian, not really. Our other dish, spicy chicken followed a similar pattern. More tasty than spicy, loaded with an abundance of too many things that were neither Italian, or even Neopolitan, but from a California cuisine perspective, interesting. Let me finish, by saying, I don't enjoy restaurants that try too hard to be different, or really chefs that find traditional fare to be outdated. However, for those who do, Provenance might be an excellent choice.
We loved the ambiance. The food was good and our service was excellent. The Caesar salad was delicious - loved the croutons.
Good food. Terrible service. . Amazing menu plus many options for my children on their posted online kids . The entire dinner experience was Arrived on time for our reservation and the hostess looked at us and said their would be a 15-20 minute wait. They found us an outside table (not what we wanted), and then sat us down without menus. After five minutes, we went up to the hostess stand and asked for our own menus. When I asked for the kids menu, the hostess said there was not one available. The waiter came to our table asking for our drink order and when my children
My second visit here - and it did not disappoint. The burger was the best I've ever had, with perfect french fries/pomme frites beside. Yum!
I like the atmosphere a lot! Also liked the waiter. The food was pretty good, loved the biscuits and the meatballs! I did not feel very welcomed by the greeter, she was a bit uninterested in what was going on.
My guests were all commenting on the additional price of $6 for avocado on the salad of the day, thought it was outrageous!
I will try dinner next time!
We love Provenance!
Amazing service and attention to our meal. Would have preferred nice music vs Nirvana...
The food is always exceptional. I had Sand Dabs and my wife had the cheeseburger. The chef has a gift in selecting flavors that complement each other. The service is equally good. The owner even makes time to check in with each customer. I will keep coming back.
We have eaten at Provenance several times. It is consistently great quality and delicious. They have recently added italian dishes — the bolognese is delicious, and they have also changed to more more comfortable chairs. Provenance is always a favorite!
