of California’s wine country to Eastbluff Village Center. This is an exciting new restaurant concept that focuses on bringing seasonal, local and responsible fare to the community. We are ingredient driven, everything is made from scratch, and we use only fresh, seasonal and local ingredients of the highest possible quality. Those ingredients that are not from our garden are sourced from a network of small-scale producers. We believe that sharing emotions with the customer is what cooking is all about. Our kitchen at Provenance unites tradition and modernity and we have a deep respect for our product and our guests. We are going back in time with our own garden, and the experience is just about as local and as natural as you can get...Come in and sample Napa Valley here in Newport Beach!
I think we had the last meal - lunch on March 17 - before the restaurant closed.
We both had salads which were very good. Francisco was very friendly and generally attentive but did forget to bring a second beer that was ordered. Maybe because it was so slow with only a few customers.
Sad time but they are available for takeout. Most of the items are for families but some are for lesser quantities. Support them if you live near Eastbluff.
I eat lunch at Provenance fairly regularly and dinner sometimes. I always enjoy the quality of the food and the atmosphere.
This was the first time that I had the brunch and it was incredible. The coffee was outstanding and the biscuits went well with the meal. I had ribeye steak and eggs which were perfect and my friend had bacon and eggs. The bacon was crisp and good quality.
I will definitely return for brunch.
Wanted to try them so took advantage of Restaurant Week. My companion relayed her a dish was good however mine was average at best. We would not return.
The meal was very good, but I would have liked better service during our lunch.
Nice surroundings. Service was excellent. Sandabs were great. Shortribs pasta was OK.
Had lunch here during O C Restaurant Week ( 3 course meal for $20). A sunny day, so very nice sitting outside in their garden and seeing all the herbs, veggies & fruits they have growing there. My starter (sautéed artichoke hearts) was small, but tasty. Entree of arugula salad with salmon was very good. And cannoli for dessert. My husband had Caesar salad, pasta and same dessert as I. Said everything was good, but "not terribly exciting". A nice meal, made nicer by the good price, sunny day and lovely setting.
I ordered salad and salmon. Salad was okay but salmon stunk really bad and tasteless. We got the wrong food. Dessert tasted like starch.
First visit to Provenance was great experience; the ambiance and service A+. Ordered their Cioppino, it was excellent! Service really outstanding!
Love the interior. Love the food. It's tucked way in a center but the place is excellent.
We started with the minestrone soup. It has to be one of the best we have had. We wished we had gotten a bowl instead of a cup. The squad board and salads were fresh and delicious. We were celebrating a birthday so we ordered the pear tart and the cannoli. The tart was amazing and we all agreed much tastier than the cannoli. Provenance is one of our favorite restaurants!
Great food. Super Service. We enjoyed Wine Wednesday with all wines under $150 being half price.
Service was excellent, ambiance unhurried, pleasant, food was delicious, nice serving sizes. Thought prices were a little high, our cocktails were $17.00 each. We will definitely be back, but not a restaurant we would frequent regularly because of the expense.
Cakebread Wine Tasting... No Winery Representatives, therefore, not much knowledge nor exchange on Wines served. Fun evening but very disappointing from a Tasting Perspective...
Excellent ambience, excellent service, excellent food!
Enjoyed our evening at Provenance. This is a restaurant where you can enjoy excellent food and wine and have a conversation. The service is outstanding! We enjoyed sitting on the patio among the garden where they grow food used in your meal. There is a wonderful variety on the menu and the prices are a great value!
It had been awhile since the last time I went and wasn't sure if it would still be as good based on other reviews I had read prior to this trip. The place is still very quaint, but I must say the food was ordinary at best. The biscuits in the Biscuit Benedict was dry. Service was mediocre. When we got our food, we asked the runner for some hot tea. He never came back. The server never came to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. She was serving a nearby table too much to pay attention to us. Finally I was able to get her attention so that we could get our tea. For the ambiance and price, I would rather go elsewhere like The Farmhouse at Roger's Garden.
Showed up for the dinner reservation and we were seated promptly. Ordered drinks and later put in for our meal. Had burrata ravioli along with Nona’s meatballs. Both were excellent.
I ordered the filet medium rare. What arrived at our table was not a filet, it was more of a roundish New York strip. It was over-cooked to the point of being gray, but at 1/2” tall there wasn’t anyway *not* to overlook it. Also, there was a fair amount of fat which surprised me for such a lean cut.
I had been there several times, maybe it was an off night. But I likely won’t be returning unless it’s restaurant week or something.
Service was good, swordfish was excellent and unfortunately the filet was significantly undercooked.
Love the food, but price is a bit higher than similar options. Also great garden in the back so locally sourced veggies on your plate.
Pasta overdone and the sauce did not live up to description.
Burger quite overdone and bun quality poor.
What happened to this restaurant? It used to be so good but now it's really dropped in quality. My first indication that something was different should have been when the server was acting rude and almost poking fun at us for asking about an item that was no longer on the menu. But it was no joke, he was just being rude to us. Any normal server might have suggested something similar to what we wanted, but he just told us that a lot of people really liked that dish and they've taken it off the menu. Sidebar; why would you take off a really popular dish?
I ordered the Korean Short Rib pasta and was pretty disappointed, even the pasta itself was bland. The ribs were so-so, but there is no reason to order that dish.
The salmon pasta was also bland, but the salmon was fair enough.
Sorry to say that the Provenance I used to know no longer exists. Instead we're left with this restaurant that looks the same but is a sorry replica of what once was.
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants that we used to brag about to friends. Alas, something must have changed from a management standpoint and we won’t going back. I made a reservation on February 15 in order to miss the Valentines Days crowds. Even through the restaurant was not very crowded we had a horrible experience. In addition to waiting an extremely long time for my wife to receive her cocktail, we wound up having to leave after an hour due to our entree still not having arrived. Overall, the situation was a hot mess. Too many good restaurants in Newport Beach to go through anything like that again.
horrible experience, the restaurant didn't honor the reservation time, had us wait at the bar, the food was served cold and our waitress was MIA the entire time. Only when we asked for the check in the middle of the 3rd course did she realize we were miserable, probably because she hadn't been by once after taking our order.
Valentines Menu was NOT worth $80. Disappointing menu items and portion sizes. Quality of food was like wedding/banquet food. Hostesses were very friendly and nice, and servers were alright. But the Valentines dinner was overpriced and not special at all.
Valentines Day—- they seemed to overload the restaurant and had a tarp outside which blocked view of the garden
Pre-fix menu for Valentines Day. Sub-par waiter. Food was all right. Not sure if it was worth going again on Valentines Day. Will go back on normal day to try it again to see if this was a fluke.
Didn’t honor reservation time on Valentines Day, had to wait a half hour to be seated. Waiter took my card to close out bar tab and didn’t return for another 15 minutes. After complaining, the service and food was quick and efficient for the rest of the evening. Food was ok, not great, not worth the price. Was a bit cold in the restaurant as all the doors were open but not many heaters. Not very enjoyable overall and wouldn’t return.
Valentines Dinner disappointment. Mediocre food and a rude GM named Michael. One and done with this place.
First experience was Valentines day.
Cold food. Undercooked. Terrible presentations. Extremely bland (3 pieces of asparagus with a poached egg and a few slices of prosciutto = salad?... hard pasta dough.....hard risotto....). Rushed the entire time. In fact, my wife and I couldn't stop laughing after every course. $280 before tip. There was an older gentleman that was nice and stopped by our table a few times, although this was not our server who was not present most of the time. Sorry but this was a COMPLETE failure, and I will not return.
Outstanding as usual
My neighborhood restaurant
We both had hamburgers Very good
Fries with top quality
Fresh and delicious food with so many different choices. Can't wait to return and try something else from their menu.
Truly enjoyable every time we visit. New surprises each time. The tomato and beet salad was out of this world served on a wooden cutting board. A must to try. We so enjoy the friendly and relaxed atmosphere while enjoying fresh and well presented
I tried out Provenance with some friends during Restaurant Week for their brunch. I have to say I felt it was over promised and under delivered. To start with, we were served coffee that was cold. Then we had to sit with it for a REALLY long time before we got our food. When we did, the food didn't live up to it's billing. Like the "Whiskey and brown sugar cured lox" is really just regular lox. Nothing special. During brunch the menu is much reduced too, which was bad for my vegan friend. Overall was not memorable in a good way.
Provenance is consistently a great dining experience. I am gluten free and found many options that were delicious. Always a good choice for us!
We tried Provenance for Newport Beach Restaurant week and man was that a good decision. The food was all fantastic and we plan on coming back to Provenance at some point. Every dish was delicious and the service was great. They were very on top of refilling our waters and clearing our table. It's a little loud when its busy but overall we had a wonderful experience. The portions were just right and have they have a great variety of options on their menu. I'd highly recommend Provenance for a nice date or even celebrating an event.
A party of eight enjoyed their wide variety of delicious entrees and wine — an excellent restaurant for large groups where you can talk and eat great food.
Food & Ambiance were good as always - service required a lot of patience - it was “restaurant week” and they were understaffed and overwhelmed
Provenance is one of our local "go to" restaurants. We enjoyed the Newport Beach Restaurant Week menu during this visit. BTW - the bisquits that they serve prior to ordering are over the top good.
All the Food, the atmosphere is always awesome but the server is always disappointed 🙁 Never asked like ”How is everything?” by the waiter(server). Just average or below service... 1/24/20 NPB Restaurant Week / Lunch
