of California’s wine country to Eastbluff Village Center. This is an exciting new restaurant concept that focuses on bringing seasonal, local and responsible fare to the community. We are ingredient driven, everything is made from scratch, and we use only fresh, seasonal and local ingredients of the highest possible quality. Those ingredients that are not from our garden are sourced from a network of small-scale producers. We believe that sharing emotions with the customer is what cooking is all about. Our kitchen at Provenance unites tradition and modernity and we have a deep respect for our product and our guests. We are going back in time with our own garden, and the experience is just about as local and as natural as you can get...Come in and sample Napa Valley here in Newport Beach!
The restaurant has a charming, cozy atmosphere. Excellent service and food.
Great find for a Friday night dinner. Nice surroundings and the service was perfect level of attention and casual. It's Italian but you can stay on a healthy diet because there are lots of great choices of salads, fish and vegetable platters. Great place to suggest if you are going with folks that want Pasta and it's not in your health budget right now to eat pasta. Nice wine list by the glass as well. I will come back for sure.
We were sat at a table for two at the edge of the patio next to the working garden and it was a beautiful ambiance right at sunset. The way the restaurant is built, it feels like a hideaway. The team was attentive, but not intrusive and paced our meal perfectly. The artichoke appetizer is a must. As a vegetarian I had enough to shops from while meat eaters can rejoice over many wonderful options. Dessert was a hit too. Cannoli filled to order were crisp and just sweet enough. Provenance is a real local neighborhood gem.
Going in for dinner I knew what kind of restaurant it was, i've been there before. I enjoy their food and concept...
However they do not like kids and will make sure you will not bring them again. Don't be fooled by their extensive kids menu on their website, we were told there was only 3 items of the kids menu available after having to ask twice about it and telling them that their website had a whole page for kid's menu. My kid ended up picking buttered noodles. My shock came with the bill, it was $14.75 for a bowl of buttered noodle. No sides with it, no drinks, no dessert. Just a plate of pasta from a box that must have cost them $1 of ingredients.
Now I understand that some restaurants don't want to cater to kids because they prefer a more mature clientele but this is just robbery. After talking to the waiter I got a half apologetic "sorry there is nothing I can do, if he would have picked the grilled cheese he would have gotten fruits too but we don't offer it with the buttered noodles."
Overall the good don't outweigh the bad this is just very disappointing-- it's a good place but this is just bad management. A good server would have known to talk to the manager and offer a dessert or something for the overpriced bowl of pasta and then worked out their kids menu or just take it off your site. Then they can say they don't have a kids menu and we wouldn't have considered it for dinner.
The biscuits, the salads, the short rib stroganoff, squash blossoms, and salmon were all delicious. We were split on the Tiramisu and the deconstructed apple pie desserts but the count remained 2 to 2
The ambiance of provenance is really outstanding. This is my second time here and I have to say I was disappointed in the service. Our waiter was somewhat new so I can accommodate for that but even the wait staff was just average. There was even a man who walked around to check up on everything and he didn’t seem to get it. Our dishes sat at our table forever and we had to summon the waiter over when we wanted to order anything. The food was good but not great. I hope they read this and improve the service, that goes a long way and even makes up for good, but not great food. When you have another farm to table restaurant down the road (the Farmhouse) you have to be at the top of your game to be competitive. I will say the biscuits were outstanding.
Food, service and drinks were impeccable!! White Sangria, Short Rib Beef Stroganoff in a garden seat are musts!! Def coming back!!
This was my second time at Provenance. I brought friends who are really foodies. They were Not disappointed. We shared the beet salad. I had the salmon, friends had short rib stroganoff and pork chops. All were drlightful
Excellent, innovative dishes, expertly prepared, and utterly delicious!
My favorite restaurant! Love the food and the staff. I'd go here every day!
Great night with friends..
Service was fantastic and the food was spot on
Great food, better service service, wonderful dinner in a relaxed and lovely casual setting.
Food is very fresh. Wonderful indoor outdoor atmosphere. A little expensive but we will definitely go back.
We had a wonderful dinner at Provenance--the food, outdoor setting, service, and wine were all excellent! When our server found out we were celebrating a special occasion, he brought us a complimentary dessert for the table and graciously took pictures of us. We truly couldn't have had a lovelier or tastier dinner experience!
My wife and I have been there before and enjoyed prompt friendly service. Not this time.
Poor service, a non-attentive server, and an incorrect order made for a less than stellar night out, but the quality of the food and wine country ambiance helped to make the most of a disappointing dining experience.
It was awesome. Our waiter was outstanding. Food was perfect. Pleasure to be there.
Super noisy becuase another table brought a barking dog in the restaurant. Not what I wanted to experience at all. Service was meh at best and the food wasn't anything special. Really upsetting I spent so much money on a bad meal with terrible ambiance. The staff was upset about the dog and we're actually complaining to me about it! What even? Don't allow dogs in your restaurant then! I wouldn't have come if I had known about it.
Great food and great service. Hidden gem! I ate their twice will definitely be going back again. I love their short rib dinners...delicious!
Had no idea what to expect. Incredibly and Wonderfully Suprised. Food was Excellent, Ambiance was charming and staff very attentive. Perfect choice.
Great Food and service. Francisco was a great and funny waiter, the Sommelier was also great. As usual the food was great and the gratis birthday dessert for my wife was delicious and appreciated. Thanks!
The restaurant is an open room with the bar on one side (with TV), and tables spread throughout. There is a nice garden patio outside. We picked the restaurant for a nice quiet, romantic setting (reviews online). It started out quiet, but as the room filled up it got so loud I couldn't hear the person across the table from me. The food and service was outstanding, everything cooked to perfection and plated beautifully. If I ever came back, I would sit outside - it looked like it would be much more quiet.
It is a great neighborhood gem - food is always good and fun to go whether you sit inside or out. I always feel like I far away from home when we go - an escape! One of my favorite places to host a party!
We went to this restaurant for Mother’s Day. The service was horrible and the food came out raw! Another person at our table ordered the short ribs and it was 80% fat and the rest was a little bit of meat. We did not get any apologies at all instead we got a sarcastic manager that was extremely rude and made our time there horrible.
Food has always been good but has gotten even better!
It took us 45 minutes to be seated, 30 minute were spent at the bar with Michelle where she served us room temperature Chardonnay with a side of ice. A SIDE OF ICE.
The manager simply said “Thank you for telling me,” and followed us and waiting to hold the door open for us as we left.
The Mother’s Day menu was a pre-fixed 3-course menu, and you can tell by the quality and presentation that they were all just mass prepared. Our plate weren’t cleaned off before leaving the kitchen. The scallops were rubbery and chewy. The Brussels spouts were heavily salted. The crab-cakes were just dense. And what was suppose to be filet medallions came out as filet slices.
I generally don’t leave reviews ever, but my point is that the food was not even enough for me to come back and on a less busy day to give the restaurant another try.. to see if my initial experience was just because the bar was short staffed and/or Michelle was having and off day.
Beautiful atmosphere and decor. We had a lovely Mother's Day brunch and it exceeded our expectations.
I have dined at Provenance several times now and decided to take my mom and family for Mothers Day. We sat outside which is always lovely, among the herb garden. The Four course meal was superb, starting with their muffins, which I do have to admit were not as good as previously but the butter is to die for. Second course I had the caesar salad, a small portion but definitely more than enough food. I chose the crab benedict for my main course, always super yummy and of course the dessert bar has an assortment of everything for every palate. Great ambiance, service and of course the food. My mom loved it and so did the family. cheers!
We went for Mother’s Day brunch, so our experience may have been atypical, but the service was poor. It seemed like a server had called in sick at the last minute.
They ran out of high chairs even though we’d reserved one, so my one year old had to sit on our lap the entire meal. Then they forgot my child’s meal. Finally, they allowed all of the plates to pile up throughout the meal, leaving little space on the table. We’d been there before for brunch and loved it, but this time it just seemed like they were concerned with table turnover and making money. The manager and chef both walked near our table and never spoke with us or seemed to notice the stacks of plates that had accumulated.
We had reservations for 9:45, but the restaurant didn't open until 10. Instead of admitting their error and addressing the crowd, they simply locked the door. Food was overpriced and mediocre. The desserts were less than mediocre. The waiter was polite, but the hostess was rude. I won't be returning.
Great food and ambiance
Another wonderful meal in one of my favorite restaurants. So glad I spent my birthday there. Great food and perfect service.
A favorite lunch or brunch. Fresh, excellent food.
Fabulous, will come again
From the minute we (party of 6) walked in to the restaurant I was surprised with the genuine lack of customer service. We waited at least 5 minutes to be greeted. Staff walked by and nobody even said hello. Finally a woman came asked if we needed anything??? Really? I said yes we have a reservation. She asked our name and then just said yes. She walked to us to a table where we waited for her to come back with menus for another 5 minutes. She only had a few and had to come back again with the rest. Then we waited for the server to show up which took another 10 minutes. He took drink orders and then came back after a while with a few of them. I told him we had a birthday. He didn't smile and wasn't very friendly. We said we were ready to order but he said he had to get the rest of the drinks first. Came back a bit later with the rest of the drinks. FINALLY, we ordered. He brought back some bread and then we waited with empty drink glasses for 40 minutes for our food to arrive. He didn't come back to say anything to us during that entire time. Not sorry about the wait or the food will be here soon. nothing! Someone else brought our food out. The server came over to ask if everything was okay. My order was incorrect. I was missing a side dish. After I was finished eating the rest of the food my side finally showed up. The server came back after a while and asked if we wanted refills on drinks... I mentioned that we had a birthday again... he said yeah, that's gonna take awhile so that's why I am asking if you want refills. He came back 10 minutes later with a piece of cake, said happy birthday without a smile or anything and walked away. Check requested and that took awhile, too. VERY SLOW, not very friendly.. will not return or recommend ever.
This is literally one of the worst restaurants in Newport Beach, if not all of California. Basically, almost everything was horrible. From the hostess that took over 10 minutes to just come to greet us, to the other 10 minutes she fumbled while "looking for menus," to the fish that was not fresh, tasted like ammonia, and was clearly spoiled, to the manager that gave us attitude when we could not eat the vile tasting food, it was a horrendous experience.
If you follow my reviews, you know that I eat out a lot and am very fair. Trust me when I tell you that this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. The service was terrible: Couldn't get water and plates and silverware to arrive in an orderly and timely manner, plus the hostess and manager were either incompetent or rude. Worst of all was our fish: It had spoiled. It was not edible.
The restaurant was full and most of the tables were waiting for food. I'm sure our disappointment was shared by many that night.
Could have just been a bad night for the restaurant when everything went wrong. Judging from other reviews. it seems like other people enjoy this establishment. As for me, I won't ever be back nor would I ever recommend it to anyone.
Spent over $ 200.00 but wanted $ 3.00 to change vegetables to pasta for main course.
Only giving 3 stars as they’ve changed the biscuits to a savory snack. They now add herbs and especially garlic which I’m allergic too. So bummed they don’t offer the old ones still....
It must have been an “OFF” night as nothing went well! Food was cold, the waiter spilled salad dessert all over me! Not a good night!
I love the garden here. It is wonderful to sit outside and enjoy the vegetables and flowers that are growing right next to your table. I had a salad and some of the lettuce was brown and wilted so I could not eat all of it. The tomatoes were not sweet and the avocados were mushy. My friend had minestrone soup and it was thin and bland. She needed salt and pepper to enhance the flavor. The waiter was very blasé and did not seem to care about our food issues.
