of California’s wine country to Eastbluff Village Center. This is an exciting new restaurant concept that focuses on bringing seasonal, local and responsible fare to the community. We are ingredient driven, everything is made from scratch, and we use only fresh, seasonal and local ingredients of the highest possible quality. Those ingredients that are not from our garden are sourced from a network of small-scale producers. We believe that sharing emotions with the customer is what cooking is all about. Our kitchen at Provenance unites tradition and modernity and we have a deep respect for our product and our guests. We are going back in time with our own garden, and the experience is just about as local and as natural as you can get...Come in and sample Napa Valley here in Newport Beach!
Very yummy, beautiful restaurant and the service was wonderful.
Awesome Easter brunch! Kids loved as well.
A hole in the wall next to Ralphs.....with an amazing vision for fun dining!
I enjoy reviewing our restaurant visits hoping those reading them, will get some insight and in turn help them decide..Our visit to Provenance, might be my most difficult to review. I'm faced with the dilemma of appreciating the quality of the food and not enjoying the style. Let me be more specific. Where they bill themselves as, as an Italian restaurant, in reality, it's an eclectic combination of California cuisine with a noticeable Italian foundation. This is wonderful, for those devout to California cuisine, but like me - fail the authenticity of Italian cuisine. Let me give an example. I ordered short rib Stroganoff, which is a stretch to begin with, but was curious. What came out, were tasty noodles, tiny amount of short ribs pieces, small hard chopped up onions, smothered in mushrooms, lacking enough sauce to cover anything but the top and a micro dollop of sour cream, that reminded me of what I ordered was stroganoff. Well prepared ( except for the hard pieces of onions), yes- fresh ingredient, yes,- creative, yes- but stroganoff, no-Italian, not really. Our other dish, spicy chicken followed a similar pattern. More tasty than spicy, loaded with an abundance of too many things that were neither Italian, or even Neopolitan, but from a California cuisine perspective, interesting. Let me finish, by saying, I don't enjoy restaurants that try too hard to be different, or really chefs that find traditional fare to be outdated. However, for those who do, Provenance might be an excellent choice.
We loved the ambiance. The food was good and our service was excellent. The Caesar salad was delicious - loved the croutons.
Good food. Terrible service. . Amazing menu plus many options for my children on their posted online kids . The entire dinner experience was Arrived on time for our reservation and the hostess looked at us and said their would be a 15-20 minute wait. They found us an outside table (not what we wanted), and then sat us down without menus. After five minutes, we went up to the hostess stand and asked for our own menus. When I asked for the kids menu, the hostess said there was not one available. The waiter came to our table asking for our drink order and when my children
My second visit here - and it did not disappoint. The burger was the best I've ever had, with perfect french fries/pomme frites beside. Yum!
I like the atmosphere a lot! Also liked the waiter. The food was pretty good, loved the biscuits and the meatballs! I did not feel very welcomed by the greeter, she was a bit uninterested in what was going on.
My guests were all commenting on the additional price of $6 for avocado on the salad of the day, thought it was outrageous!
I will try dinner next time!
We love Provenance!
Amazing service and attention to our meal. Would have preferred nice music vs Nirvana...
The food is always exceptional. I had Sand Dabs and my wife had the cheeseburger. The chef has a gift in selecting flavors that complement each other. The service is equally good. The owner even makes time to check in with each customer. I will keep coming back.
We have eaten at Provenance several times. It is consistently great quality and delicious. They have recently added italian dishes — the bolognese is delicious, and they have also changed to more more comfortable chairs. Provenance is always a favorite!
Setting is charming, the service very attentive. Food was better than fair. Prices were reasonable.
I love Alice In Chains bit was odd for the music choice at a nice restaurant. The lights were also crazy bright and we eventually asked them to dim them which they did. Would have added a lot to the ambiance to have right music and lighting. Additionally, the servers were helicopter moms where it was difficult to have a few sentences of a conversation without a swerved, Manager or chef hovering around.
Reliably delicious food with an updated menu that has more pasta options now. Extremely personable staff (and Chef!!). New indoor seating is more comfortable than before, and ambiance is a pleasant escape from they day-to-day rush.
Let me say that the cocktails were very good. The food was bland and the service was lacking. We started with the Margarita flat bread. This arrived at the table with a small amount of tomato sauce on top of soggy flat bread, there was very little basil and a small amount of burrata cheese on top. This was very disappointing. However, the New Zealand clams were very good as an appetizer. The sand dab entree was very bad, lacking taste, and had a strange texture. The short rib stroganoff lacked flavor and the meat was stringy. I am not sure that that the focus of this establishment is on the restaurant. I suspect that they are more interested in their bar clientele. We had to flag our waiter down a number of times and ask other staff to get him, as he was spending most of his time chatting with the bar patrons.
Waiter was rude
I had to get up and ask for hot water for our tea (gave us only cup of hot water. Then he brought us cold water w an attitude
Salad was good but skimpy and expensive
We do not plan to return
We have enjoyed Provenance 4 times now in the last month. Every visit is such a pleasure. We have sat at the bar as a couple and also with our 10 and 11 year olds. The service is consistent and friendly. I only gave a 4 this time since there was a mix up with garlic bread order and it took forever to get it.
Lunch was amazing! We had the Short Rib Grilled Cheese sandwich and it was out of this world.
Chef Cathy brought us some of her famous Herb biscuits with honey butter that melted in your mouth. Would highly recommend for a delicious , very reasonably priced lunch. Perfect setting to sit and catch up with friends. Make sure to walk thru the garden and check out all that’s being grown. Can’t wait to go back for dinner with my husband
Excellent service and good food!
Good service and delicious food
I met a friend for lunch at Provenance and had a wonderful time. The atmosphere is great and the service is EXCELLENT. We both had a salad and the presentation was beautiful. Thank you so much - we will be back!
This place is great for brunch, especially if the weather is nice. They have a garden out back, and when you're sitting outside you're practically in the garden. It's very relaxing and nice and breezy, while still staying shaded. They have the entire garden labeled too, so you can wander around and see what they're growing. The food is also really tasty!
The food has a unique flair to it. My 92 year old mother wasn't very happy, but she didn't understand all the greenery and the arugula on her Eggs Benedict. The food was good, but I would stick with the more conventionally prepared dishes next time.
I think we just had an off night at one of our favorite local restaurants. The arugula salad we split was overdressed and too sweet, the heirloom tomato and beet platter was terrible and I often order and enjoy that dish. It had no dressing on it, no seasoning or oil, a creamy sauce on the side that lacked flavor. My husband had the appetizer crab cakes and they were incredibly salty.. obviously an error. We should have sent it back (and the tomato and beets, too). We will definitely go back and just write it off to an off night. We had excellent attentive service!
I've been to Provenance multiple times. This last visit was my least favorite. Our party was offered to be seated in the patio. I expressed my concern of being cold. I was assured that it will be comfortable with heaters. It was in the low 60's Fahrenheit. There were definitely heaters on top and on the floor but the room vinyl "walls" were not airtight. I was slightly cold due to wearing a dress and shoes without stockings. I didn't want to make a fuss so I endured it.
I wanted to explain the above because the discomfort may have affected my judgment. Sitting in the patio with the glass doors closed between patio tables and main dining room, I felt segregated. I've been here in the Summer when the glass doors are wide open which makes sitting in the patio area fun and somewhat adventurous since we were close to herb garden. This time around, I felt like stepchildren cast aside. The waiter we had was not too friendly nor talkative. This did not help with making us feel inclusive.
My salad and lamb chop was as expected! My husband's ravioli and pork tenderloin was small in portion. The wait between course was longer than I remembered, but it is understandable since it was Restaurant week.
We ate at Provenance for lunch during restaurant week. The menu had great selections, the food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and it was lively to sit outside near the garden. We also had the opportunity to speak with the chef on the way out, who was very open and nice.
We were there during restaurant week, so there was a 3 course fixed price menu and we all opted for that. The food was delicious and our waiter was excellent. But I rated the service low because we had a reservation for 6:30, but weren't seated until almost 7:00. (We had arrived on time.) I think they just weren't prepared for the extra business for restaurant week. Still, I recommend it!
With OC Restaurant Week, we had a good deal with a three course at lunch. The food was delicious, the server was helpful and the atmosphere was delightful with open air feeling. No complaints at all.
Quality of food is fresh. Outside patio dining was very nice. Lovely garden atmosphere.
We thoroughly enjoy eating here. Great food , love the location and gardens. friendly and competent staff. Loved her other place, Lucca in Shady Canyon also. We have brought many frinds that also love Provenance
Provenance is wonderful!!!
This restaurant is especially appealing for me as I am able to walk to it.
The three of us all had different items and all were delicious. A flatbread, a pasta and a braised beef sandwich. We shared an apple "pie" / crisp which was also very good.
Very minor complaint. We requested water refills as the three of us were close to empty. After about 5 minutes, we re-requested to get our refills.
I particularly enjoy the wide variety of lunch choices and how the menu changes throughout the year.
Francisco is always an amazing steward! He continues to give us great service and recommendations when ever we dine there!
Also so glad with the new chair!
Another excellent dinner. The new dining room chairs are a great replacement for the metal ones.
My favorite is New Zealand sole for lunch menu. This is one of a few place that you should not miss French Fries!
The food is always good. We happened to go on a night when business was slow, so there weren't a lot of people. The service was slower than usual, but other than that we had a great time.
Terrific food, wonderful service, and the new tables and chairs make for a more cozy, intimate experience!
Love this cute little place. Forgot that Sunday would be a brunch only menu even at 1 p.m. so missed out on their regular lunch menu, but it was still good. Beautiful presentation of breakfast tacos. Will go back when weather is a little nicer so we can sit out on patio.
