Visiting from NYC and wanted a relaxed early lunch with very good food and wine. Prospect came highly recommended and lived up to its accolades. Spacious modern room. Knowledgeable pleasant staff who care about details. Good wines by the glass including Barolo and Meursault. Strong menu. We were happy with duck mousse with corn bread muffins, lobster salad, sautéed spinach, fried chicken sandwich with fine potato salad. Desserts are wonderful. Highly recommend.
I made a reservation this time but never really had had to. Always seated quick and the food is really good. Everyone remembers the fried chicken sandwich and the deviled egg apps are yummy!
Server was super friendly and helpful! Food was excellent!
Food was excellent, and we had a great time. The appetizers were probably better then the mains, but overall both very good. We were there on vacation, having a date night, but we saw a little of everything. Date, business mostly.
Our team very much appreciated the short walking distance from the office to the restaurant. The meal was great, but kind of expensive - it's San Francisco. Can't promise that our team will go there again due to this circumstance.
Our first time here, I chose it for the nice menu options, which made it hard to decide, but we settled on the salmon, and halibut—both were delicious, well prepared, and beautifully plated. The service was very attentive and the atmosphere was casual and comfortable. We were seated near a significant server thoroughfare, but did not feel disturbed by it because there was plenty of space, so it actually ended up feeling more private than some of the other tables would have been. The desserts were magnificent - the chocolate cream pie was a substantial choice that did not disappoint, while the lemon verbena mousse with ricotta fritters was a melange of very sophisticated flavors that were a perfect end to a really nice meal.
Consistently one of the finest restaurants in San Francisco! Anyone who doesn’t eat here is a fool.
An amazing menu. Great wine and fantastic service
Prospect was great. The pate was very good as were the little corn muffins that accompanied it. The hamburger was cooked as I ordered it, "...as rare as is legally possible."
Pricey. Everything we had was very good. I was expecting a more interesting menu. The service was excellent.
Very good place. Food is very good with a lot of varied choices. Server recommended a great Pinot Noir. I typically like cab sauv but wanted to try a different varietal my guests would like. Would come back again
Everything was excellent. I was dining with my sister and brother-in-law. I two of us had one of their specialty cocktails, which were excellent. The other one had a glass of wine. We split two appetizers, and then I had the duck breast as my main course. It was excellent. For dessert, I had the chocolate pie which was also super. Highly recommended.
From beginning to end the dining experience was professional and pleasant. We were greeted with a smile from the host table as we entered and promptly seated. The wait staff was professional and answered all questions to our satisfaction. There was a point where I felt like the waiter was pushing us to order entree before we were ready to make that decision. Otherwise, the evening flowed smoothly.
Our food was beautifully presented and was delicious. The dessert selections were varied and extremely flavorful and appealing.
Our visit with friends was extremely pleasant thanks to the ambiance and food preparation. Thank you for a memorable evening.
We were 7 total for a business lunch. Two arrived late due to earlier committments. Our server checked in with us several times to make sure we had what we needed while we waited and then took our orders when we decided we weren't waiting any longer. When the two arrived, she was there right away to take their orders. Their lunches arrived soon after the rest of ours. Perfect service; food was great; dessert was amazing. This is our office go to spot for business lunches.
I've eaten at Prospect numerous times and the food and service is consistently excellent
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday, the food and service were awesome! The only negative was their Pinot Noir offered. It was really awful, but our waitress was kind enough to take it off of the bill and switched it for the Cabernet Sauvignon.
Food and service was great! D
Pricey, but worth it.
we took home pork chop & halibut leftovers, still delicious the next day.
superior service. when my wife indicated she couldn't taste the vodka in her drink, Cedrick brought over a shot from the bar, well done!
sister restaurant to famous Boulevard, equally good. One of Michael Bauer's 2018 100 Best Restaurants; agreed!
Wonderful place. Tried something new..duck..for lunch which was tasty but earlier dishes had all been rated 5 so I was spoiled with scallops, chicken, seafood salad, etc. Good spacing of tables allowing for adult conversation. Would have liked bread with pasta dish but did not request it, service attentive, friendly and efficient. This and sister, Boulevard, are tops on my go to places!
I was under impressed by our serving teams passion we have gotten accustomed to here in SF. The seating at first was horrible even after waiting quit a bit since we had reservations and there were many empty tables. Our direct server tried to be accommodating but I still felt that there was no team support for him. Our chop was excellent and came at the right temperature which was pure luck since not one of us were asked how we liked our meat cooked!
Nancy Oakes does not disappoint with this less formal sister to Boulevard. Food and service are top notch. The atmosphere is pleasant. Noise level is not forboding. Valet parking adds to the convenience.
Good dinner with client - respectful and attentive staff.
The dishes are hit or miss. The vegetarian option was obscenely salty to the point that we couldn't taste the veggies, but the duck was cooked just right. The octopus is always excellent, definitely a safe bet. It was so cold even in the dining area that we all kept our jackets on the whole time, men prone to overheating included.
Food is always consistent here, but service was very cold tonight. Our server barely made any eye contact with us. When we asked for bread service, she just kept walking and said “sure” and continued walking away. It was not personal at all. No introduction, no description of the menu. Even though it was self explanatory, I’ve eaten at enough places in SF to know that it’s pretty generic for the server to introduce themselves and talk about the menu. It was supposed to be a nice Mother’s Day dinner with my family, but even my Mom noticed the unwelcoming attitude from our server.
Always a great dining experience at Prospext. Great food and deserts.
This was the second time my husband and I had dinner here and both times the wrong dish was served. The first time, my husband ordered a lamb dish and got black octopus or something like that. This time he ordered duck and got pork chop. The first time the waiter was super apologetic and insisted on bringing the right dish and did not charge for it. We ended up giving him a huge tips. This time my husband also said it was fine for him to just eat the pork chop and he did and it was good. Just can’t understand why they can’t get the order right? Weird.
I frequently have business lunches at Prospect. The food is always consistently delicious and the noise level is just right for a business meeting. I particularly enjoy Prospect's warm chicken and kale salad and have enjoyed variations of this salad as they alter it with the seasons. I also am partial to their appetizers: deviled eggs, burrata, or hummus. The restaurant's interiors are hip and modern. Also a great place for after work cocktails.
White asparagus is exceptional.
Nothing can go wrong there.
Food is always excellent, but food server was a bit terse and rushed.
Just as good as I remember it when I was working in the neighborhood from 2016-2017. Was on a very restricted diet (no dairy, no carbs, no sugar even from fruit) but found one item that I used to order so was very happy - they made the ahi tuna tartare appetizer into an entree. While I cheated with the chips (had a sprinkling of furikake), and I know the soy marinade had sugar at least the protein was a bonus and all very tasty. It’s a challenge to eat out on a limited diet, but super restricted is very challenging. The desserts looked amazing but I could only drool.
My friend had the salad with fried Brussels sprouts and the strawberry lemonade - she loved it
Everything was excellent especially the service. Can’t wait to return. We felt very welcome
Celebrated our anniversary tonight. From moment we were greeted we were treated like royalty. Tiffany waited on us with perfection. We will definitely be back. Thanks for the special touches anniversary card and carmel popcorn for desert take home bag. 10 stars
Prospect is a restaurant near where I work. I go here about 2 to 3 times a month and have never had a less than delicious meal. It is also a nice place to go for drinks after work. Solidly good restaurant.
Good ambiance and professional service, ideal for business lunches or a first date.
Try the burrata as appetizer. I was happy with the steak. The chicken salad was popular.
Great and interesting food. Pleasant staff. Lunch crowd was the usual agency gulch set but not obnoxious. And really, come for the food!
From cocktails through dessert it was exceptional.
We went to Prospect for the first time to celebrate our new marriage. It was a gamble that turned out to be totally worth it. We received wonderful service that was just attentive enough and included a recommendation for Friulano, a tasty white wine from Italy that was new to me. The food was all solid, but the soup and salad were our favorite. The soup was artichoke leak and the salad included a variety of fresh herbs and a delicious dijon dressing. I will be trying my hand at recreating the artichoke soup at home. It's been less than 48 hours since we had it and we have brought it up in conversation several times since. It was that good! Our entrees included the lamb chop and halibut. We were happy with both, but not wowed in the same was as the starters. We went with the rhubarb combo dessert and enjoyed it, but again were not head over heels.
The decor and vibe of Prospect is modern without being sterile. I tend to feel more at home in restaurants with more floral arrangements or art on the walls, but in a way it was kind of a like a blank canvas that put all attention on the food.
Great food and good service! Loved the appetizers.
