We arrived early for a business meal. The host sat us and then resat us at another table, even though the place was 1/3 full. Several servers took care of our dinner, none introduced themselves. We are two business partners treating an out of town guest. The meal itself was truly outstanding, especially the fresh heirloom tomato salad and the halibut. But the service was awful. The one waiter was in training, the second one was impatient with our guest who was clearly not a native English speaker -- quite insensitive. So overall mixed experience, and I will return to other places before this one.
A staple in the south of market area with a solid wine list and a seasonal menu. Better for dinner or group dinners.
Excellent food, but for the price, the serving was inadequate. Service was abysmal. I had to go find our waiter and remind him that we existed. Too many excellent restaurants in San Francisco to put up with that again.
Limited menu that I struggled to find a choice that I wanted to eat for dinner. Our server disappeared before our appetizers arrived and then our service was fill in people after that.
A delicious meal in a beautiful setting. Dinner was marred only by slow service.
This is one of only a few restaurants in SF which gets "over our bar". Ambiance, service, main dishes all excellent. If you value eating quit well, with healthy gourmet options, low noice level, relatively accessible even during rush hour then you would see why it's our top choice for dinner's out. Some desserts just OK, not world class, but we're not big dessert eaters.
We celebrated my wife's birthday here last Saturday, and were disappointed.
The service was fine, well above average.
The food, while generally acceptable, was not up to the standards we've come to expect at (sister restaurant) Boulevard.
We arrived early, and ordered drinks/apps (IPA, ahi tartare and duck liver mousse) from the bar menu. The IPA was good, the rest OK.
Dinner for three (generously shared between us) consisted of halibut, duck breast, and steak. The steak was ordered rare, but arrived medium. Duck breast was very good. Halibut OK. Food preparation and presentations were lacking - hard to pin down why exactly, other than to say: when we dine at Boulevard, everything is awesome; here, it just wasn't awesome.
Dessert, unfortunately was even more disappointing. Both the chocolate cake and the apple strudel (which I expected to be hot, but was delivered cold) were reminiscent of store-bought pastries. My wife was unable to finish the cake.
We'll stick with Boulevard in the future.
Lovely ambiance. Attentive waiter.
Ordinary food for a higher end restaurant. Presentation was excellent but the flavors were not not exceptional...and frankly, that is what one comes to expect when lunch without booze easily tops $50/person.
This place has a good looking menu and the restaurant has a nice ambiance but the prices are far too high for the portions served. We ordered a couple of seafood appetizers and the duck main course. The food was good but I expected more for $36 worth of duck breast. The appetizers were $21 each. That seems extortionate. Same with wine - a glass of Riesling was $16! This would be a special occasion only place and I think you can do better for that in San Francisco. The desserts were just average. Service was good except the initial wait for our drinks and to place our order. Beware of their Healthy SF mandate too, I always deduct this from their tip.
Very tasty business lunch; good options for vegetarians.
Consistency. That’s what I like. Prospect is consistently excellent.
Great service, didn’t interrupt our business meeting while we ate. Food was so delicious, elegantly served. Overall great experience. Would go again.
Pretty expansive - over $100 a person without a lot of wine.
Our server, Cedrick, bordered on hostile. The food was not good enough to overcome the poor service.
Quite good and no specific complaints but waaay over priced.
We were seated at the time of our reservation. Server was friendly and familiar with the menu. Ambiance:well executed modern. Two dings. Menu small and bathrooms a hike. Food was very good, I just would lave liked more choices
The restaurant is beautiful, lots of space and great ambiance. However, the waitress took FOREVER to take our food orders and then the food took FOREVER to come out. Our reservation was at 8 and it was around 9:45 when our food came. By then we were exhausted. My steak was good - not $40 good but hey it’s SF! It wasn’t terrible, but I probably won’t go back.
Great food, super attentive service. This is a top-notch restaurant, great for special occasion/splurge if you’re in SF.
Exceptional as well
Lovely food ina pleasant environment. Service was first rate. Will come again.
Prospect is one of the very few places in town where you do t have to scream and strain to hear every word, which I greatly appreciate. The interior is handsome and warm, the service is highly professional and the food is consistent delicious.
A bit pricey, but really good food. The roasted beet salad was fantastic! Good wine list with a variety of price points. We were originally seated on a banquet, next to two young women who were having an extremely good time, but were rather giggly and loud. Our sommelier asked if we would prefer a table "more suited to conversation" and quickly, efficiently and unobtrusively moved us to a wonderful table where we could enjoy our conversation and meal. She was really in tune with our desires and was able to accomodate us without making a big deal out of it. And our waiter, Cedric, was equally outstanding. Asked about food allergies and preferences and made some good suggestions. Really great service!
We had a late lunch after visiting the nearby Salesforce Park, and enjoyed the ambiance of Prospect very much. Perhaps it was because it was past the usual lunch hour, but it was pleasant to be able to talk and converse without shouting! I had the warm roasted chicken salad and started with an Apricot Smash cocktail which was delicious, and my husband had the lobster salad which he enjoyed. It's a little off the beaten path and there is still lots of construction nearby, but we'll visit again when in the neighborhood.
Amazing as always
Every dish we ordered and shared was well-prepared, delicious, had wonderful and unusual combination of ingredients. They also accommodated our request to serve the sausage separate from the scallops. Our server, Krista, was very personable and answered our questions and regularly checked in with us.
I love the Boulevard and so I was very happy to come here for the first time. And I will definitely return here.
Good selection of wine. Had a lunch date with my husband here. The deviled egg, the chicken sandwich and the bavette steak were delicious. The dark chocolate matcha with black sesame ice cream was decadent.
Awesome place! My friends and I enjoyed everything! Thanks so much “Prospect” Team!
I’ve been enjoying Boulevard for many years, but no tables were available for a Friday night dinner with my daughter. I had heard about their sister restaurant Prospect, and found availability at the time we wanted.
From the moment we arrived till the time we left, everything was spot on. Our table was ready on time, the restaurant has a nice overall feel, our server was very friendly and knowledgeable, the foods we chose (heirloom tomatoes & summer melons, Alaskan halibut, lobster spaetzle) were high quality and spectacular, and the prices were very reasonable. I’ll definitely return and recommend!
I loved my meal, Crispy Ricotta Stuffed Squash Blossom
Zucchini & Summer Squash Gratin, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Fregola with Currants & Pine Nuts, Tomato Conserva. I would order it again and actually I'm craving it!
Nice room. You walk through a active and noisy bar scene to the dining area which was much quieter. Service started slow and then improved. Our server was helpful. We started with artichoke ravioli. Outstanding! I had the pork chop. Very good. My wife had salmon. Good but we both liked the pork chop better. Good cocktails. Good wine selection by the glass. Overall, while not cheap we felt we got good value.
Loved it. Had the pasta dish, and share a burrata salad. Good wine list, too. Easy to find.
Wait staff never checked on us. No water refill. Chicken sandwich breading was way too much. Coleslaw soggy and bland. Potato salad taste like it sat for a couple days. No fresh flavors here!
We took 3 friends there and everyone had a good time. The salads and vegetable dishes were most surprising but everything good.
Great space and generally good food, but service was poor. Even with an early reservation, took 75 minutes to receive entrees.
Beautifully-laid out restaurant with efficient but courteous service --- not too thrilled with the prices nor the food portions but good for those with expense accounts.
Good but not great
I went to Prospect with a friend and we both discovered our next favorite downtown restaurant. The food was amazing. I had the halibut and it was delightful- perfectly cooked. We could talk without screaming at each other which made the evening so much more fun. The tables had space between them- what a concept. The service was impeccable. I intend to come back often.
Food was excellent. The service was a bit slow - long time between courses.
We enjoyed dinner and will return.
