Was blown away by the quality of the food and service for the price. I was surprised by all the TVs playing football, it def didn’t feel like a sports bar but with capacity being so low it wasn’t loud or filled with people there to watch the game - still had a nice ambiance to it. Would definitely go back and recommend to other.
The ambience is great. It’s a very upscale NYC restaurant with affordable prices. The $35 brunch deal is one of the best you can get in the city.
It was waaaaay over the 25% indoor dining capacity rule.
Was great! Food was great. Bar is very trendy but laid back.
Amazing brunch experience! Perfect food and great service.
Great brunch experience!
Valentine’s Day dinner. Our waiter was excellent. Wine and food were very good it was just a bit too noisy.
Had a great server and good drinks. Very quiet for a saturday but think it's worth a chance.
This is one of my favorite places in NYC. The bottomless mimosas are delicious and the food selections are very tasty. I recommend this highly!
Great atmosphere, We came in around 2:45pm wasn’t really busy but the staff was extremely welcoming.
Our server was great and very attentive.
Food was well prepared and perfectly cooked.
My food came cold but otherwise we enjoyed the experience
Great location and food options! Loved the bloody Mary’s
Food was average especially considering the price.
Went to watch the Penn State game and it was an awesome experience. Great bar and atmosphere and alumni association. Thanks for a great day. Even better a Penn State win!
Went for lunch. Got some burgers- they were extremely greasy &. not cooked to the proper temp. Fries and sweet potato fries were good. Server & decor were nice.
The server did not smile AT ALL! She was inattentive. She walked passed us frequently but would not stop to check in on us. She appear annoyed and distant- not friendly or welcoming at all!
Tip to manager: please encourage your staff to smile and look like they’re happy to welcome us!
My friend and I had the bottomless brunch and it was delightful!
Food was great, atmosphere was cool. Service was a little slow, but nothing that would keep me from returning. It just had room for improvement.
Great food that took FOREVER to come. 2.5 lunch is unacceptable in my opinion. Otherwise, cool atmosphere
I went there for lunch with my staff, a total of 6 people. The place was not full yet, but our food came late. It took 40 minutes after the order. And no water refill by the server. When I asked the check, they handed me the wrong one. I told it was incorrect, and the server brought our check but 20% tip added already. I will not go back.
The food was pretty good and a decent price for the location. The service, however, was poor. We were told we had a limited amount of time due to a private party, but then waited 45 minutes before someone took our food order. It was difficult to get our waitresses attention. Unlikely that we will be coming back.
The menu at Proper West is good. There is something on it for everyone. I had the cauliflower app and the black truffle caesar salad with salmon and I couldn't finish either. Both were very good. The service is good but not exceptionally attentive if you want more personal service. We had a reservation and were seated right away when we got there. One block over from Bryant Park, the restaurant is conveniently located. I have been here several times and have enjoyed it every time. Will definitely go back.
I'm a sucker for bottomless mimosas in the city and this place definitely did not disappoint.. Typically I like to go to rooftop restaurants but since it's not as common in the winter and we have less options to choose from, we decided on this pick instead. The atmosphere is awesome and there are tons of TVs so it's a good place to go especially if you want to watch that day's sports games. Food is a little slower but service is generally quick. The thing I liked most was that they bring over an entire canister of mimosas for the table rather than having to come back every single time you need a refill. Plus it was only $35 for the food AND the bottomless mimosas per person. Great bargain. Would definitely recommend if you aren't dying for a rooftop spot.
Ended up leaving because the table area in the back was so unwelcoming. There was a strong chemical smell and the restaurant completely lacked any coziness.
Nice place I would visit again, the food was good and a very good deal however drinks were a bit pricey . Loved the server:)
Very good food, and great selection of beers and wines. Reasonable prices for all. Very, very loud-- on a Wednesday evening at 7pm, seated 24 inches from each other, we could not hear our own conversation. Much, much too loud. Server was very nice but somewhat inattentive/inaccessible.
The music was turned up like it was a night club. The food was so so. I guess there was a reason it had reservation available on Friday pm.
The burger and chicken sandwich was average and tasted like pub food. Obviously it’s not a pub.
I always have a great time here. Creative, delicious menu with quality ingredients, great energy without being too loud, and fantastic decor. I recommend it to everyone if they'll be in the area. They should add the steak taco lettuce wraps to the appetizer menu permanently!
Beautiful restaurant with trendy decor and a great menu. I had the tacos from the shareable section and was very happy with my decision. They definitely don’t skimp on the wine pours and the waitress was attentive as were the bussers. I would highly recommend for a nice stop before a concert or game at Madison Square Garden!
This is the best bar in NYC for Penn State games!!!
I WENT TO PROPER WEST FOR BRUNCH THROUGH PULSD, AND I HAD GOOD EXPERIENCE,
THE ONLY THING I DIDNT LIKE WAS HOME FRIES WERE KIND OF COLD, OTHER THAN THAT GOOD FOOD, AND GOOD SERVICE, :)
5 plus perfect for lunch or dinner business or pleasure
Went using a Pulsd deal. Wouldn’t pay w/o a deal. Good enough for the coupon though.
Came for a Penn State game on a Saturday afternoon, and it was great! $20 beer buckets, which is pretty reasonable for NYC. Great service, our server was really attentive and helpful! We had a larger party than expected, and they accommodated us quickly!
A glitzy sports bar. Loud background music and dim lights. Lots of tv's.
Staff is great here!!!
The food was average but the service was the worst I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant.
Overall, it was a nice lunch. A business associate from China was staying a block from the restaurant and I suggested lunch based on the great reviews online. Our waitress was sweet and very welcoming.
There were three of us total, the other two people in the party thoroughly enjoyed their meals, one ordered the salmon burger, the second a beef burger. I ordered the seasonal berry salad with salmon, dressing on the side. The food took longer than the average NY restaurant (there were two other tables, both already had their food), and my salad arrived swimming in dressing. The waitress offered to exchange it, but the other people in my party insisted on waiting to eat their hot meals until everyone had a meal (because manners are not lost of them) and I felt horrible making them wait another 20 minutes to eat, so I picked out the berries and ate the Salmon, leaving most of my greens..there was literally a pool of dressing at the bottom of the plate!! How could anyone eat that?
A nice gesture would have been to offer some plain lettuce to soak of some of the dressing up, or bread, but nothing was offered and I was charged in full for the inedible salad, which honestly annoyed me.
Bottom line, the other two enjoyed their meals thoroughly, the quality of my salmon was great and the atmosphere was fun. I had planned on returning with a group of friends next Sunday for brunch, but we changed venues after I relayed the salad debacle. I'm undecided on whether I'll return in the future, maybe to try something other than a salad.
Very good all-around experience.
