We went for Sunday brunch and LOVED the feel of the place off the bat. We had wonderful food (we split the French toast and pumpkin bread appetizers and fresh fruit + cocktails) and service, including coat check and a bathroom that's just a quick stroll through the adjacent modern art museum. Really a fun experience. I'm definitely coming back here next time I'm in Louisville!

Excellent service, innovative menu, delicious dinner. The traditional menu items (chicken, beef, fish, vegetables) are all prepared with an non-traditional flair. My date and I especially appreciated the bread served with dinner, as it was not sweetened, as many restaurants in this area serve (sweet rolls or cornbread). The seating is close (but not cramped) - this gave us the opportunity to meet and chat with couple sitting next to us. We both agreed we want to return soon and sample more of the excellent fare at Proof on Main.

Excellent find for foodies. Three of us doing an Urban Bourbon Trail needed some food, and Proof on Main was perfect. The Charcuterie Board included pork tongue and head cheese, along with unique cheeses and jams. The wine list was broad but not necessarily expensive. We tried fresh fish, duck, and a veggie platter. All of us were pleased. Walking through the art hotel lobby and bar was engaging and enlightening. Looking forward to returning!

Love the artwork and decoration
2nd time here. Service above and beyond expectations. We were sat tightly between two other couples , though there were other two-tops nearby without next door neighbors.
Portions between too large and skimpy depending on item.
Too many items on menu borderline: blood sausage bolgnese, Duck gizzard and heart pasta, both fish dishes served in broth. Lamb is an odd combination that resulted in puzzled diner.
All in all, not sure I can be convinced to return.
Wish them all the best though !

Terrible. We were offered 1 Cab by the glass with dinner. When we received the bill, it was $24 per glass. Food was mediocre. Management offered to charge us for a bottle as compensation. Big deal, we didn't drink a bottle. Go elsewhere.

There is a reason we come back to Proof year after year. The food is always creative but resonates the locality. They treat ever guest as if they were in their own home.

My husband and I had a great dinner. We ate a late lunch so we weren't very hungry so we ended up sharing a meal and the chef gave both of us our own plate which was very nice. The food was amazing and the brussel sprouts were over the top! We will definitely eat there again. 😊

I would say that Proof is a bit over hyped. I guess the Spirits are the draw, but if you are interested in wine and dinner, then you might be disappointed. Both the food and service were average. Not bad, but nothing to rave about. Given the price, we wouldn’t go back.

So having lived in New York City, Chicago, Las Vegas, LA and having traveled over seas I have dined at countless Michelin Star restaurants (e.g. 1, 2, 3 star) around the world. Did I expect Proof of Main to match these experiences; of course not. But having had the best duck and food courses the world has to offer I can tell instantly when proper preperation has been done and when it has not.

For the first course I chose the mussels; hearth roasted Pei mussels. While the description proposed on the menu was intriguing, the mussel course, in reality, was average at best. The second course, the duck garganelli, was thoroughly misprepared and oversized. The duck was overly chewy and dry, the pasty was overly cooked, and the sauce was completely off balance; overpowering the entire course. Given the lack of proper prep of the duck and pasta I suspect the sauce is intentionally overpowering to mask the rest of the plate. So for the third course I decided to play it safe. How bad could the gelati & sorbet tasting be? I was served gelati and sorbet that was already significantly melted, on a lukewarm plate. Clearly they did not make the basic effort to properly pair their chilled plates with this particular desert choice.

In addition the service was very poor. The bread was slid onto the table by a employee rapidly passing by. A plate for the mussel shells was properly provided by my waitress only to be hastily removed by someone, only to be replaced by someone else shortly thereafter. My duck course was plopped in front of me, despite my bread plate being in the way, by a fourth person who mumbled what I was being served. And to cap the "experience" off, at the end of the meal the manager, I guess, came by to explain to me that the duck dish, by it's very nature, is supposed to be chewy. Absolutely outrageous. Given my dining experiences mentioned above I have had the best duck courses the world has to offer; literally.

Everything was to perfection. Proof is a true gem. We were there for a friends’ get-together. We had brunch: Champagne, pumpkin bread starter, Proof Benedict. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. Great service! Our server did not rush us, and everything was very timely. Just a great experience. Highly recommend~

Great service, ambiance, and wonderful food, as always. Highly recommend. Get the charcuterie, it's delicious and a great sampling of meats, cheeses, and condiments. Sides are enough for at least two when served as a side for dinner, but we shared several sides with the charcuterie and it was a wonderful meal for four of us. Unfortunately, they ran out of cotton candy!!!

My friends and I took our combined 6 children (girls 13-7 years old) to Proof for dessert after a show at the Kentucky Center. We were immediately seated, adults at one table, children at another. Service was quick, friendly, and ultra over the top. They even brought one of the famous 21C Hotel red penguins to the girls' table. They were thrilled. Drinks, gelato, and cotton candy were big hit all around. Plus, the girls were able to experience art culture on the way (and inside) the restroom. I would happily refer Proof to anyone.

We had an amazing experience at Proof. We let chef Mike Wajda send us on a culinary adventure and were not disappointed. Each of our 6 courses were not only amazingly inventive but incredibly delicious. For 2 of my courses, the headcheese and the skate, I literally have no comparison because I had never eaten these delectables before. All I can say is that if this chef prepares it, just eat it and ask questions later— you won’t be sorry. Not every course was so adventurous, but even my humble pork chop was elevated and put every other chop I’ve had to shame and the final taste of strawberry cotton candy was a warm and welcome surprise. Do yourself a favor!

The waitress and ambiance were great! The food was pretty good. It was a bit pricey, but that's to be expected at an upscale place. I was a tad disappointed to arrive a little earlier than our reservation and being told we could not be seated earlier even though the place was empty.

We've been to proof many times and it has never disappointed. It was my daughter's 14th birthday and they did a wonderful job of making it a special evening for her and my family. I made two special requests when I booked the reservation on OpenTable and both were handled professionally when we arrived without having to mention anything.

I'm fortunate to be able to dine at many of Louisville's more noteworthy restaurants, Proof may be my favorite and I look forward to my next visit.

Everything I want in my dining experience: knowledgeable and attentive service, exquisite taste, enjoyable ambiance and priced as expected. Wife and I enjoyed this dinner for our anniversary. The seasonal food (late November) was excellent and unique whether in preparation or cooking method and flavor. I loved having a knowledgeable staff that understood food, flavor, and drinks. We also loved the connection to the museum and hotel. This was memorable experience we were looking for on our anniversary!
