Proof on Main
Mustard and fruit spread on charcuterie did not enhance meats and cheeses. Mustard was texture but no taste. Fruit was bitter. Spicy honey missed.
Whipped ricotta had a shaved topping that seemed like horseradish, but never really took off. Still worthwhile.
Breads were excellent. Sorry we missed out on crudo.
This was my first visit. I knew I had made reservations for brunch but didn't realize we could not go rogue from that menu. My bad. The orange bread/cake was fabulous. Loved the art work! Will definitely eat there again but will plan for breakfast.
Brunch was terrific. The Eggs Benedict is served on cornbread. Wow! Service was excellent.
Cocktail menu was massive but everything was great. Appetizers were amazing. Entrees were perfect. One of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had.
The highball section of the cocktail menu was fantastic and very unique! We had a couple seafood appetizers that were delicious - they aren’t lying when they say Louisville has great seafood, especially for a land locked state! From top to bottom our meal was a great experience with delectable wine pairings and a fantastic after dinner drink selection.
The kitchen was also very accommodating for a gluten allergy.
The hostess was quite rude and unfriendly as soon as we walked into the door. When I made my reservation, they had told me to come in early but when I did, the hostess turned me down and told me to wait. The food was fine but not extraordinary. Good ambiance and atmosphere
Drinks and the cornbread are the best part!!
Excellent as always
Staff are attentive and courteous, food is always amazing
Slow service on a Tuesday at 6:30 (10 tables occupied)
Overly salty main dish (chicken)
Ice cream had ice crystals
Laurie was our waitress. She was outstanding and deserves a raise and a promotion.
A fun, quirky brunch spot. The food is good. The menu is small, but there's a variety of options.
Enjoyed a fabulous dinner with a client while in town on business. Everything was wonderful, from the cocktails to the food to the service. We enjoyed walking around the galleries before and after dinner. The decor at Proof on Main was quirky and interesting. I will be there whenever I'm in town.
Our memory of our brunch here years ago brought us back. We arrived at 11am on a Monday, hoping for a breakfast menu, but only lunch was offered. At that time, the main room was empty, but several more groups arrived by noon. The menu was small but both the burger and brisket sandwich were good. The hotel is full of contemporary art, so make sure to leave time to peruse it after your meal, both in lobby and lower level.
The three of us had excellent meals. Everything was fresh, delightfully presented and memorable. The food was great, the service was great and there is so much to take in at this very attractive restaurant. We will make a point to return. Oh.. and we enjoyed a delicious bourbon flight! That was fun. The peach bellinis are good enough for a return trip!
The ambiance is eclectic and fun and the food is different than normal breakfast food, which was fun. However the service definitely was lacking. The food took forever, the waitress forgot to put in our starter order, and they had to remake the pancake batter because they had run out. But because they forgot the starter, they did make it right by not charging us for that. We weren’t in a hurry so it was ok for us but if you don’t have the time to wait for a couple hours, rethink it. The food was ok bit not amazing in our opinion. A fun place to take out of town guests but we probably won’t be back.
Our experience was great from the time we entered to the time we left.
Do not usually write reviews but most dishes were over salted and I love salt.
Came in a bit early and the hostess said that they would not be able to accommodate while a large number of tables were empty. Came back at reservation time and a number of same tables were still empty and we were seated at one of those tables.
The entire experience was lovely
Food and service
Our server was great! The food was great in terms of taste and variety. Loved the artwork on display both in the restaurant and in the hotel lobby. Would highly recommend the roasted mushrooms and pork chop. The Kingslayer cocktail was also wonderful.
The food was good but the service was not as good as the restaurant commanded.
Great food, staff and ambiance. You’ll enjoy this fun and quirky place.
Loved the ambiance. Price point was a little high... wish there were a few more main entree choices. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
So good we went back twice during our stay. Billy was the bomb.
Great time with friends. Fabulous food and wine!
Interesting menu. The halibut cheeks and tail special appetizer was excellent, the califlower steak had lots of interesting flavors, the rib eye was a bit chewy - chocolate pudding was spicy and good. Excellent wine by the glass, beer and bourbon selection. The restaurant has very interesting art - don’t miss the extensive art exhibit in the hotel lobby.
Terrific guest experience enhanced with well-prepared and creative cuisine. Big surprise to us was how the dynamic artwork gave this place a contemporary 'pop'. Bartenders were super knowledgeable and informative about the many bourbons they carry and fun to interact with. Highly recommend!
My fiancée and I went here for lunch on our anniversary! The service and food was outstanding from start to finish. Chef Jerrin took amazing care of us. He went out of his way to make our day special!! Everything was phenomenal, but the octopus and bison burger really stood out! Don’t even get me started on the desserts. Highly recommended to anyone.
Menu is small and focused but food was amazing. All our meals made us go wow.
Bourbon flights were a nice touch too.
Great wine choice.
A must see is the art collection either before or after dinner.
The staff at Proof on Main were very attentive and knowledgeable. My salmon was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. However the steaks our guests ordered, although cooked well, had no flavor. We also felt that our meal was very expensive.
Our server was very sweet but she appeared rushed and distracted when engaging with our table. The food also took a long time to come out and no one checked in with us to give an update. We liked the decor and art all around. The experience wasn’t bad overall, but we definitely had higher expectations on the service we received.
We were told by quite a few people to try Proof. We didn’t have time for dinner, so went for a late brunch. It was delicious. The carrot bread is to die for, we had it for dessert ! The egg sandwich and hot chicken were extremely good. Because we were a little late, our server was serving most tables. Other people stepped up to help him, so all was good.
Food was very good and the service was gracious. The dining rooms are beautiful and the restaurant is adjacent to a terrific art collection. My only quarrel was with the prices. It was New York prices and beyond for a very good but not outstanding meal.
Awesome fresh food. Not your everyday offering a must try. The Smokey old fashion was outstanding. The pork the best I ever had.
Food was not good , my have been an off night. Texas Roadhouse steak is killing their steak. My food was room temp and server was terrible
We felt that the value for the dollar was only just okay. This is a very expensive restaurant.
Fantastic through and through.
Quite a find. The food is phenomenal. in fact, the octopus is probably the best I've had, anywhere (including the homeland, Italia). And the burger (bison) was perfect--great meat from their own ranch, fabulous sauces, and excellent fries. AND, to top it all off, the wine list (while small) was perfectly paired with the food and included rarities (e.g., a pure Croatina from Piemonte, almost never seen in the U.S.). If in LouIsville, DON'T MISS THIS PLACE!!
The very best service from your hostess to your waitstaff. Our dinners were delightful, full of exciting flavors. My salmon melted in my mouth with such memorable taste.
When we return to Louisville this will become our go to" for the best meal
Our party of four enjoyed Saturday brunch. The service was very good. The restaurant is comfortable and not too loud. We loved the French toast appetizer, dessert before the meal, excellent. We each had a different entree, including one vegetarian. Personally, the shrimp and grits were good but the egg white was a little under cooked. Everyone else was very pleased. We visited the art gallery after dining and it was a wonderful way to stretch a bit on a full stomach. Lovely atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
Food was amazing as always. Wonderful service.
