Prohibition - Rosewood Hotel Georgia
The prohibition era was a time of true authenticity where people could break down social barriers and bond over a shared experience. Prohibition at Rosewood Hotel Georgia invites the present to escape back into that inclusivity and authenticity by honoring and nurturing the time period in which it existed.
Prohibition at Rosewood Hotel Georgia is seen by Vancouver to be the city's go-to spot for an affordable luxury drinking experience. It is where customers are treated to a memorable and inclusive atmosphere with well considered drinks that are created with careful attention to historical practices. Prohibition is perceived to be a truly authentic cocktail bar that values the quality of their products and services by drawing from thematic cues of the past.
Its a great place for birthday and get together. The staff team are super friendly and very cool. I always enjoy my experience there. From the front entrance to the music are all great!
Great ambience and music. Our server was just apalling. Admitted to getting 4 out of 6 drink orders wrong. Admitted to her mistake but had our same drinks re-shaken instead of completely remaking them. Worst service at $22 a drink. Go to the Lobby Lounge upstairs, much better service and worthy of the Hotel Georgia name.
Limited food menu. Not a dinner spot. It’s a cool place to have a cocktail
Absolutely stellar ambience. It really felt like we had stepped into a world of elegance. The server we had was excellent and incredibly knowledgeable about the drinks. She even got a recipe for my favorite drink from the bartender which was amazing. She really went above and beyond to ensure we were having a good time without hovering. The drinks are delicious and well-crafted, and the truffle fries are perfection. Will definitely be coming again the next time I’m in the area.
Atmosphere is very cool. Recommended as a groovy, romantic place to see and be seen.
Very boring, we had to o leave and get a coffee somewhere else because we got sleepy, the atmosphere and music is only good for going on a date. Nothing else:
We were visiting from out of the country! Our server/waitress was not very friendly and at times rather unpleasantly rude.
We made a reservation for dinner without realizing it’s just a bar/lounge. No proper tables, very dim lights and extremely limited food menu. We ended up just having a drink and went elsewhere to eat. Surprised it’s even listed on Open Table as a real dining option...
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We went early evening and it was just what we were looking for - - some fancy drinks and a place to connect with live jazz in the background. The drinks were fabulous and our server was great - readily available but not intrusive. She took the initiative to find the answers to some questions my husband had about scotch. The food was fine but not spectacular.
Liked the little quiet door/entrance off to the side. Not exactly the prohibition speakeasy experience of a secret door but still fun. Seating is already set upon reservation so there isn't much negotiating on sitting somewhere quieter or alone on a given night. The drinks were delicious and strong. Tried some random cocktail choices. People watching was pretty amusing as well during the night. The charcuterie board was pretty delicious as well. All in all a fun little celebration cocktail joint.
Downtown exclusive nightspot with great ambiance. Huge bar with amazing choice of cocktails. Light bites available not a dinner menu. Music adds to enjoyable mood.
First time trying this place for drinks. Was pleased with the ambiance and service. Drinks were good (if you like egg white drinks) try the hotel Georgia or a French 75. Food was a bit hit or miss for me. Truffle fries were great (we ordered a second) prawns were good quality but forgettable, as they were just in a bowl of thousand island sauce, charcuterie was lacking in variety and may be better if the price was upped just a little to offer more selection.
Overall I would come back for drinks for a fun occasion as the ambiance makes the place.
Drinks were well made and worth the somewhat higher than normal cost.
Entertainment was puzzling for a prohibition style speakeasy with a bluegrass band. Not what one would expect and not complimentary to the space.
Food was normal "bar bites", but well done.
Great cocktails and fantastic atmosphere! Will definitely be back
Overall was nice.. but have too much on the menu for dining. Latest could do a reservation was 7 and no one was there and all the tables were empty. Drinks were overpriced but good. Waitress was very helpful. Not sure if go back.
Amazing place, I loved it. We loved the service and drinks but we ordered fries and chicken wings and due to the amount of grease we got up set stomachs... We still went back with friends because we lived it so much but didn't order food.
Was visiting Vancouver and was recommended this place by a friend. Went here for a date around 9:30 on a Tuesday and the place was empty. However within an hour, this place was busier than any bar on a Saturday night. The service was great and waitresses were very attentive. They have an extensive cocktail, wine/beer menu. However you can choose to custom make your cocktails with a spirit of your choice too. They also serve small bites and desserts - did not get a chance to try those out though. They do have a live jazz band playing every night but didn't have one when we were there. Highly recommended as a weekday drinks with friends or a date night spot.
I have previously gone to this establishment for a night cap later in the evening and was pleased with the band and quality of cocktails. Given this when a group of pilot friends were recently in town on a layover I suggested we check it out. Had a reservation for 6 people at 7 pm. Sat for over 20 minutes with no wait staff even acknowledging our existence. Our group left without a word from staff. I have been here before and liked it but after my most recent experience I don't see myself going back or recommending it.
I normally have nothing but great things to say about Prohibition, but the service this time was really lacking. Our server kept changing, I had to flag servers down to order more drinks, and after waiting 15 minutes I finally had to go to the bar to get my bill. And it wasn't nearly as busy as other nights when the service was outstanding.
Was going to stay for the live jazz, but left early out of frustration.
This was very unusual, so maybe they just had a rough night, but for the first time since going there (many more times than those shown bunOpen Table), I left disappointed.
Wonderful place, drinks, and food. We debated eating there a second day in a row. We decided to be more adventurous but hope to be back next year!
Great service and music. The overall experience was great. That said there were fewer cocktails on the menu than I expected and the food was ok but didn't do the place justice.
If you're interested in a well crafted innovative drink, made with premium spirits and care - Prohibition is the place for you. The atmosphere is authentic and makes for a inviting spot to unwind or take pause.
Like stepping back into an old school speak easy. Wonderful drink menu amongst a beautiful crowd.
Went here for a celebration and can't wait to go back! There is nothing missing here: decor, ombiance... There is a cool under current here . The staff is outstanding and very knowledgable , the cocktail menu gas something for everyone and the daily punch special is fun. Outstanding quality , highly recommend
Difficult from the start. In Jan I visited prohibition on a scouting mission and decided to have my birthday (feb 12) at Prohibition. I went online and used their contact us form and never received a reply. I sent the form in 2 more times and never received a reply. As time was ticking I called the Hotel Georgia and explained my situation and was put through to Prohibitions voice mail. I never received a call back despite leaving 3 messages. The final ditch effort I made was to call the Georgia back and say I hadnt heard back and was there anyone who could help me! I was put through to the Hotel Georgia director of catering who was lovely and helpful. Prohibition was also available on Open table for a maximum of 8 people. So, I made a reservation under my own name, and got my co-worker to make one under his name as I had around 20 ppl. I was told if I wanted a group larger than 6 there was a $100 pp min spend & I would have to guarantee with my CC! I said I could not do that and that I would stick to my open table reservations which require NO min spend. He was kind enough to push my reservation back from 7:30pm to 8:30 pm which was the time I wanted. On my birthday I show up to Prohibition and the guys at the door seemed to be confused about the reso. As more people arrived we moved to a larger area and were then hounded by the manager on the floor. Many people in my party said they felt as if we were being watched and hovered over by this manager. There was only one waitress who was great but had been assigned a section of over 50 people. For a place that has a $100 / pp minimum spend they did not make it easy to spend $. Drinks took over 30 minutes to come. Food took at least 45 - 1 hr. Everything was delicious when it arrived. Many people in my party complained about the manager hovering over our tables to the point where it was a bit uncomfortable. We also were treated quite rudely and I was told there would be a $50 charge for the cake that someone brought.
My first time to Prohibition so I wasn't sure what to expect. The atmosphere was cozy and lush, the stools a little uncomfortable if sitting a while though but the couches were great. The food was relish, however a tad overpriced as were the cocktails so it's a more pricey night but thoroughly enjoyable.
Just went in for a drink..pricey but with a visit
