ProAbition Ratings and Reviews
Outside patio was nice and manager was nice, JD(?). other than that, the service was poor. I understand it was a whiskey bar, but waitress clueless about gin options. Waitress brought the wrong drinks to 3 out of 5 of us. Brought a chardonnay, when he ordered a moscato. I asked for no ice in my gin and tonic, and it came plum full of ice, and another drink of just gin, not gin and tonic. Also, had complaints about the daiquiri. it was not crushed ice, and bitter, tasted like a margarita, when I asked the waitress, she sais that is the way they make their daiquiris! It was terrible and my daughter didn't drink more than 2 sips, waste of 12 dollars, waitress did not offer anything else. Not a great way to start a special evening. Food was okay, but still bothered by hassle with drinks.
It was on the more pricey side, but good. I got the burger with angus beef and pork...it was good but pretty dry (I understand they wanted to make sure the pork was cooked, but I would've asked for more sauce if I'd known it was gonna be so dry).
On another note, I definitely recommend the protabella parm fries, they were delicious!
Had a great time here - arrived for a 615 dinner with a total of 6 of us. It wasn't packed, great live music in the room next to us - so we could hear it, but not overwhelming to our dinner conversation. The food was great, cocktails even better! Wonderful fun service and we had a blast!
It is a great place for a night out, though my wife is less into it. Esp if you consist that it is reasonably priced. Food is decent, not great, some dishes are better than others. Overall a favorite place of mine. Fridays and maybe Saturdays they have live music usually great bands, but plan accordingly if you want a quiet place. Servers are always great.
I know it was St. Patrick's Day and that things were a bit hectic, but it was really hard to get the waitress's attention and the loud noise certainly didn't help. I had been here before and had a much better experience when I ate at the bar. Also, I didn't like the changes in the menu, as the items that I had enjoyed before were no longer available.
Good food but every other dish has blue cheese which I like but is not always loved prices are high but quality is good. Service was excellent but I've had servers there that were just too cute (gag me with a spoon) if you know what I mean. Noise level is high but it adds to the ambience and in some strange way it makes the place more intimate. Maybe the hippest place in Riverside but you got that from a baby boomer
Coming to this restaurant for the first time, we knew it was pricy, but was hoping for more. For the cost of the meals, they should have served something as a snack (bread/butter) and shouldn't charge $3 extra for a salad with the meals. We didn't request to sit outside and when we asked for something inside, they said that was all they had. Good thing we were right by a heater. Although, we did have a great waitress! Taylor was very bubbly, friendly and extremely helpful! The ambiance was nice and the food was good. This restaurant is good for romance and a special occasion, definitely can't afford on an everyday/monthly basis.
This place was pretty cool. The bartenders were very friendly and knowledgable on the different scotch and whiskey they had. We had dinner besides drinks but was not that impressed with the food. The waitress was very nice though so over all the experience was ok.
Went here with my wife before a concert at the Fox. Cool environment. Definitely a place for the whiskey lover. Service was very good. Manager and several servers checked on us multiple times.
Filet was really good. Drinks were excellent. Will definitely return when in the area.
I highly recommend reservations if you want to dine inside.
I'd been here before with some girlfriends and wanted to take the husband back. While it was lunch and so there wasn't live music, we had the opportunity to enjoy lunch on the patio, people watch, and enjoy the warm day in Riverside. The food was good and we enjoyed a sandwich, a burger, the regular fries and the bleu cheese fries, along with a beer and glass of wine. Our server was nice and pleasant, as well as attentive to our needs. I'd say our mid-day lunch was a hit!
I love coming here to relax, eat great food, spend time with friends and family, and people watch. The service has always been fantastic and tonight was not any different. The chicken Caesar salad was tasty and the bread loaf was beautiful. What keeps bringing me back, besides the amazing ambiance, is the blue cheese fries. If you have not dined here before, fix that situation immediately!
Don't use Open Table for Reservations at this place. I made my reservations, specified Indoor seating based upon reading previous reviews, and when we arrived I was told Outdoor seating only - AND that the Restaurant had confirmed that in their response to me (which was UNTRUE!) Call them and get a name you can reference if you want Indoor seating. Food was so-so; service okay; can say 'been there/done that' but I would not return.
This is a restaurant with fantastic atmosphere, a vibrant staff, and a terrific venue. Appetizers are good to excellent, drinks are a varied lot depending on which bartender you get, and the ambiance is delightful. Go home without ordering dinner and you love this place. Order off the dinner menu and you may stay away; we have been 3 times and love the downtown scene so much we keep thinking its our problem--buts its not. Food quality and prep are just poor. Rib eye steaks are 1/2 inch thick or less, grizzled & fatty. Oh, and burned past enjoyable. Just order off the appetizer menue, have a drink, and enjoy the great ambiance.
My wife made a reservation the day before.
We arrived at the restaurant and the hostess said " Ho you are on time." Let me take you to your table. She took us outside at a cocktail size table. My asked if there were any tables inside out of the cold. The hostess stated "this is what you requested." My wife said no! "We requested a dinner table inside." Well we don't have anything at this time and a large party is in the other room and wont have anything for an hour. We left for another restaurant.
Made reservations for 7:45 on a Saturday night and we arrived at 8. They were accommodating in hon airing our reservation. Thank you. Wanted to order filet mignon, was told they were out of it. Out of filet mignon on a Saturday night by 8pm? Also, wanted to order Cinnamon Toast Crunch drinks from their "full" bar.. But they don't stock rumchata?? What bar does not stock rumchata especially a Hispanic-owned one as ProAbition?
I preordered tickets ($16.50 each) for Fat Joe who was supposed to perform there that night , only to find out it's free if we stick around. (Or only $10/tix at the door) Doors for the venue were to "open" at 10 with the owner telling me Fat Joe would perform sometime between 11:30 and 12am.
It never happened during that time and we ran out of patience and left. Are we supposed to stay there till closing to watch the start of your hired venue??
Food was bland ( coconut clams had no taste, steak was well done .. Supposed to be medium rare.. I c an live with that) . The visitors with spicy maple butter were excellent.
All of the servers were pleasant and attentive and apologetic for the menu shortcomings .
My wife and I went for the first time on a Tuesday night. Reservations at 7:00 we showed up early at 6:30. The sat us right away inside. Not packed but a nice number of patrons. Outside sitting looked full. The bar had mix of people. The place really looks great, fits the old time feel and style. The staff was friendly and got our drink order right away. Or waitress wasn't quite ready for us so she asked another to take care of our table so we given a quality service.
It was kinda nice to slow down a little and just enjoy the setting. The food was really good, great selection of drinks and an area off to the side outside to smoke cigars and have drinks.. HUGE PLUS FOR ME. We meet a couple guy that were probably manager or have interest in the place. They were really cool guys, no doubt I will spend my hard earned money here again. It's not a cheap place but reasonable for what your getting and worth the cost.
This place had awesome ambience and the food was spectacular. The service was excellent. They did not seem overly packed on a Saturday night.
The food took way too long to get to us in my opinion (over an hour) for a couple hamburgers is a bit ridiculous. That said I'd definitely visit again.
Visited this neighborhood gem yesterday for my birthday. Loved the 1930's décor and music. Exceptionally friendly staff. My husband particularly enjoyed the informative conversation of the fine choice of whiskeys available. Variety choice on the menu. The arrival of drinks and food took longer then expected, but was good. Enjoyed a Nice surprise birthday desert with a huge sparkler effect coming up from it. We spent a long time there just enjoying the company we came with and felt very relaxed and unrushed. Added bonus is the ability to stroll the area around Mission Inn and Main Street to walk off the meal. Would definitely visit again.
Was there this past Sunday for Brunch, though we didn't end up ordering any breakfast items at all! The menu had so many great choices we opted for several appetizers to share instead. The Avocado Shrimp Bruschetta, Brussels Sprouts & Pork Belly and the Mac & Cheese (with Pork Belly) were killer! We also had the Blue Cheese Tater Tots. There was plenty of food to share and even though we were all hungry, there were leftovers to take home and enjoy later. Portion sizes were generous.
One of us opted for the bottomless Bloody Mary, the rest for Mimosa's. Our glasses were continually being refilled and the Pomegranate Mimosa was my personal favorite. Yummy!
The service was EXCELLENT. Our server, Haley, had a great personality, joked around with us, and took wonderful care of us throughout our meal. We'd come back, just for her!
All in all we loved this place and will most certainly return again and again.
We live in the area and have visited ProAbition a number of times. Love the atmosphere of this place. this is probably the coolest vibe of any DT Riverside restaurant. Their food is excellent and they have great live music. If you have not been to this place yet you must stop by to check it out.
Dinner with friends before concert at the Fox. The disAppointment began when the server poured my vodka request into a thick whisky tub glass, when I reminded her that I ordered it up, chilled, she did put it into another glass and added $3 to my tab. OK, so less than an ounce of vodka is $13. Appetizers were average. We each ordered a different entree-the rib-eye, filet, salmon and ribs. The ribs were the most poorly prepared. All four of us left dinner, disAppointed and vowed we would never return. Too bad. It's a great location and has potential as a bar. The service was fair.
