They were very busy the evening we were there, so we let the waitress know that we weren't in a hurry. We were looking forward to some scrumptious Cajun food, but it was somewhat disappointing. We had spicy egg rolls as an appetizer -- very spicy indeed. And we had jambalaya and crawfish etouffee -- neither of which was memorable. I think it's classless to bring a bottle of beer to a table with no glass. She even asked when the beer was ordered if he would like a glass and he said yes -- but no glass until it was requested again. My martini, on the other hand, was delicious -- kind of the high point of my meal! When our dinner was done the waitress made it very clear that she was ready for us to clear out.
Ended up at the bar vs our table for dinner and couldn't have been more pleased. Thank you, Joey for a great time. Favorite place in Lexington!!!
Really liked the ambiance and the food. They were pretty accommodating although several of their menu items were already out at lunch on a Monday, so that was weird. Also, they don't have bar staff in the afternoon, so only beer and wine available.
Husband and I came hear on date night. Very cool atmosphere and very good food. My only complaint is that the service was poor. I think they were training some people so I'd be willing to try this place again.
Great place for a business meal. Quiet yet good vibe from the outside patios to the private rooms. Cloth napkins would be a plus in this environment. The shrimp and Grits were a favorite, however the blacked red fish won the prize this evening.
Blackened filet and blackened chops amazing !! Every time we visit we are very pleased !
Our second time dining at the restaurant. We were so impressed the first time (last year) but left this time feeling a little disappointed. Even wondered if the chef or management/owner had changed. The food was good but not outstanding (as last year) the shrimp and grits were literally swimming in a bowl of sauce, so that the shrimp and the grits were lost. The special of the day (blackened redfish) was good, but the sides were a bit heavy-handed on the plate. The salad was non-descript. Even the drink we ordered last year was not the same. It was mostly water. :-) Service was excellent though (Janice)
Ate at Private Property for the first time Monday for dinner. I had to ribeye and it was excellent!! Probably one of the best steaks I have ever had....a bit pricey but worth it. The drinks were different and delicious. The service was very good, friendly and gave good recommendations. We will definitely go back.
our meal was outstanding, large portions, have been several times and always great food!
Great food at a reasonable price and good service. My only complaint on this visit was, after making reservations ten days in advance, we probably had one of the worse tables in the place, barely inside the front door.
Enjoyed blackened gator and Mardi gras pasta. Attentive waitress, great food, and overall great dining experience.
This was my second visit to a beautiful and charming restaurant. My first visit and meal were extraordinary. This second visit was a bit disappointing. Perhaps I chose the wrong entrée; but both my friend and I experienced exceedingly salty food. Our server was excellent, and of course, unable to do anything about the saline issue.
I shall be returning this week with a larger group; will choose differently and hope for less salt!
Great food as always and the service was outstanding!
Great local restaurant. The blackened alligator is delicious!
Outstanding meal as usual. Service was great! Never had a bad experience at Private Property. Family was from Idaho and had never tasted Cajun Food. They are believers now!
Blackened Pork Chop was tender juicy and delicious
Nice semi private dining rooms throughout the first floor of the (large) house which dates to the 1800's. Food was very good and quality, quantity and $$ value will definitely recommend and return
What a pleasure to dine at Private Property. Found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. It was excellent, from service to food. Shrimp appetizer, Shrimp & grits, and Shrimp creole, bread pudding (!) were all wonderful. Service was top notch (Caitlyn) So glad we made reservations as they were turning people away on a Thursday night. Thoroughly a great experience!
Great food and service.
This restaurant is always great, the staff is wonderful and the food is phenomenal. Would recommend to anyone!
Small room , filled to capacity, the remainder of the restaurant was empty, table of very loud talking ladies alongside us, made conversation impossible. Food and service was great as usual.
The steak and pork chops are delicious. We also loved sitting on the outside patio on this nice fall night!
We were very well taken care of by our waiter, the dinner was well presented, hot and delicious.
This is my favorite restaurant in the Columbia-Lexington area. The food here is always great. it is really nice to have true cajun food here. Dinner menu is far better then lunch menu, however lunch menu per se is good enough.
This was our fourth time eating at Private Property and we have enjoyed it every time. The food is outstanding as well as the service. It also looks like a great place for a party with the outdoor setup. We will probably plan our next special occasion there. Thanks
Service was amazing, my sweet tea glass was never empty neither was my wife's water and wine glasses. The Food was fresh and delicious.
Very nice restaurant. The food was tasty. I had the shrimp and grits which were very good. Nice ambiance . I would definitely come back.
Great food and great service!
The ribeye steak was delicious! The jambalaya was also great. The flavor build up with every bite. Service was great.
Fabulous specialty drinks!! First time I had a Tiramisu martini!! Yum!
Great food, great service. Screaming kids made it a below average experience.
Outstanding as expected! This was our 51 st. anniversary and we chose the same place we celebrated our 50 th. Can't wait for another special event.
Private Property is a very nice place. I've always had a good meal here and look forward to my return visit.
The restaurant was just OK. It was not anything special and for the price I feel you could get a better experience downtown Columbia. Disjointed layout, menu was kind of small and the prices were a lot for what you got.
Had a very nice dinner at Private Property on Saturday 5/28/16. The food was very reasonably priced and very good.
Private Property has character and the food was delightful. The group of secretaries from my office went for lunch to celebrate our special appreciation day. Everyone tried something different from the menu and it was all tasty. We enjoyed the "Charleston" atmosphere and that the fare was different from the chains.
Had to make a later reservation than I planned but that's a good sign. Took my wife and daughter to dinner for spouses birthday. Staff was great, seated us about 10 minutes early. Our meals were delicious. I had the blackened rib eye and it was wonderful. Best steak I've ever had in Lexington. My wife had the shrimp pasta and raved about it. My daughter is a picky eater but the staff worked with her and prepared a grilled chicken and pasta dish to her liking that wasn't on the menu. Overall the only issue was noise level as they had a large group and the house isn't condusive too that. Otherwise great time.
I had the ribeye steak and it was fairly tasteless. I didn't get it blackened so maybe that was the problem. It was not worth the money. Everyone else enjoyed their meal and the she crab soup is still the best around.
Waitress was wonderful, made the visit fun.
The Restaurant itself is a delightful old Southern Mansion. Very charming indeed. The lunch menu, unfortunately, was an uninspired mishmash of burgers, salads and gumbo. We chose the gumbo appetizer and that turned out to be aggressively seasoned, although not to the extent of being inedible. And, the Mushroom Ravioli entrée was simply sumptuous. My guest fared less well with a tasty burger that was poorly partnered with far too salty french fries. But, I suspect, these setbacks are a one-off and I wouldn't necessarily object to a return visit.
