Chef Hellyar’s ultimate goal since his time in Japan was to have the opportunity to conceptualize and develop a Japanese restaurant that showcases the food of the modern Japanese culture. This happened to coincide with the plans of Kevin Boehm and Rob Katz of Boka Restaurant Group, and a partnership was formed. The cooking at Momotaro accents the seasons, features Japanese and locally sourced proteins and vegetables, and a unique and exceptional sushi program. Momotaro was designed by the well renowned AvroKO, and features a lower level lounge, and a dramatic private party room. Chef Hellyar, after many years of nomadic travel, is happy to be settled in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago.
