I can only assume our order was forgotten-waited about an hour for our food to come out. Food mediocre to good, not outstanding. Wait staff seemed confused about which table food belonged to when they came out of the kitchen. Comes off as a poorly managed restaurant with overworked staff.
While we requested a GF LF they only had one dish with those options and it was not appealing to my wife so she had to choose a dish with a GF substitute that she was not overwhemed by. And they had absolutely no GF LF offerings for dessert. Our server did not come across as very personable but was efficient as such we felt a little rushed. Our dinner from time we arrived to leaving was just over an hour. The whole experience was a big step down from when we first dined at Primrose 3 years ago. Then we so enjoyed it we went back 2nd night for dinner and took in the breakfast brunch. Thats what brought us back this time. Then they had a better menu option for GF LF tastes and readily offered subtitutes to meet the needs. The hotel has always been great but our dining experience this time was not.
Good food good wine good atmosphere great value. Lived it!
Stunning views, fabulous service, and scrumptious food. Very happy with the evening!!
Fantastic views and very good service. Ate upstairs at Eden the night prior to Primrose and both were fantastic. Primrose was great value for the money.
We were really under impressed with our dinner here. We were ignored for a while when we first arrived as there was no one at the front to greet us. Once seated we were welcomed by our server who had a cold and sniffed between every sentence (not super comfortable with sick people serving me food). The drinks were very slow in arriving as they need to be collected on another floor of the hotel and we had to enquire as to when they were coming. The food was a good temperature and generally tasted good but the steak was a strange cut that was not an even thickness so some parts of it was over cooked. The ambience was non existence . This is the same restaurant that is used for the breakfast room of the hotel and they don't make any effort to make it more cozy in the evenings for dinner service. Give this one a miss unless you want a fast bite to eat. There are some great restaurants in Banff, it's a shame management have chosen to not make any effort to have the Primrose be on that list.
Disappointed in the ambiance. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and it was like sitting at Montanas with lots of crying kids. Lights were bright and certainly did not have romantic atmosphere. Filet mignon is better at The Keg! Very disappointing.
Love this place! Excellent food and atmosphere.
As always amazing food and service!
Window views are amazing! Food was very good and the service was awesome!
Decent menu selection, brilliant service. Affordable wine menu and an amazing view.
Try the lobster ravioli appetizer!
Delicious as usual. Always superb service at the Rimrock!
We went for Pasta Night. Great meal and great price.
The food was tasteless , and extremely over priced , our waitress didn’t even ask us how our food was , my steak wasn’t cooked properly , the price for what you get was not on par at all . Wouldn’t recommend this to anyone staying at the hotel , better off going into town for some food .
Dinning experience at the Primerose was amazing! Food was great and the service was outstanding. I find the value here is great! I will be back again.
Had to wait 20 minutes for our reservation and the food was good, but not worth $70/person.
It was a lovely date night with my husband. Beautiful ambience and great food. I highly recommend the Wednesday pasta night!
A wonderful birthday tradition that we all look forward to. From apples, to salad right through to the amazing desserts - all excellent!
Everything was great! Only one area I think could use a little improvement. The cheese/charcuterie section of the buffet could be far better. Put out some more cheeses and some nicer air dried meats. Maybe some bunderfleish, proccuto etc.. overall well worth the money.
We were there for dinner on pasta night so very busy and noisy. We sat at the back of the restaurant next to the pasta buffet. We did not have the buffet, instead chose items from the menu. Meals were very good. Service was also very good. All in all, no complaints but might plan around pasta night next time.
We had the privilege of dinning in this restaurant and the service was fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to sit next to a window with such an amazing view of the mountains. I found the restaurant to be very quiet and relaxing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. I am looking forward to visiting here again and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere they offer. We are from Calgary and it is definitely worth the drive to the Rimrock Hotel just to visit this restaurant.
Made a reservation but still needed to wait 20 Mina for a table . Waitress service was good .
I had a great evening. The food was, as usual excellent. The waitress very nice and professional. I really enjoy coming at this restaurant, its never disappointed, and always a real pleasure. I highly recommend.
Staff were wonderful and thoughtful
Food was delicious
Very good service and the food was delicious. The restaurant wasn't very busy and unlike some places, you weren't seated beside the table next to the one that was already taken.
The atmosphere was nice, but the food was very disappointing considering the price point. I had the apple salad to start, which was under dressed and under seasoned. It was quite bland and very disappointing considering it was a $14 salad. For my main, I had ordered the lobster carbonara, which was moderately more flavourful, however the lobster was quite overcooked to the point it was chewy. This was a $32 pasta dish and honestly, it was not even remotely worth the price. It was also under seasoned (no salt). My husbands dish also lacked flavour and seasoning.
The service was ok. Our server was attentive at the beginning (when we were the only table in the restaurant), but as more patrons came in, her attention dwindled. We ordered wine to accompany our mains and they arrived well after our entrees were served.
This restaurant received fairly good reviews and I was quite surprised at the experience considering the reviews, so perhaps they had an off night, or something? Anyway, based on this experience, I would definitely not recommend this restaurant.
Primrose is very convenient as it is located at the hotel but the portions are little and the food is okay. Menu doesn't offer full size steak menus and I have to say that I was very disappointed that I only got 3 pieces of vegetable - especially in this day and age where the world wants us to eat healthy but only 3 little pieces of vegetable.....We went back for breakfast and the buffet food was cold. I don't believe that the price suit the quality of food.
Read reviews for my husbands and I’s Anniversary. We decided to go here... we made reservations. We where seated in the middle of the restaurant, I asked if we could be moved to the window, and the hostess said no, because they where fully booked. (Both the seats where 2 & 2, and they could of easily switched our seats with the other people. Are reservations where at 6.... stayed for over 2 1/2 hours and the restaurant was never fully booked.)
Customer service was not best for the amount of money we spent.
They did give us a cute little “happy anniversary desert”
The food was good, you definitely pay for the ambitious.
There was a ton of families in this restaurant also, which was nice.
Beautiful setting and view at the Rimrock hotel. There were 10 of us and it was a limited places we could book for a group that size . We ended up at the Primrose and we were a little hesitant thinking it might be really expensive but it was reasonable and had a beautiful view! I will admit the menu was a bit limited especially for appetizers ... we ordered a flatbread pizza for starters and it was awesome ! We also ordered the half chicken stuffed with Asiago and spinach, beautifully done and very tasty! We would recommend that dish ! We also ordered the pasta with a rich white wine sauce, the pasta was a la dente perfect texture !!!! Definitely recommend that one !!!!
Where the restaurant lacked in appetizers it made up for it in the desserts! We ordered the sampler and it was awesome. The blue velvet cheesecake and the chocolate stout cake were by far our favorite ! The blue velvet cake is truly unique and a must try ! The creme brûlée was also very good ! If you’re in banff and looking for something a little nicer with a view, Primrose is a sure bet !
Best table with spectacular views...
What a lovely restaurant for a quiet get together, date or reunion! We enjoyed the ambiance and the food was absolutely fantastic. Great service too!
Lovely food and service for our anniversary dinner. We had a lovely waitress, too.
We went back for lunch the next day but I found that less than satisfactory, unfortunately. The chips were undercooked.
However, the dinner on Thanksgiving was perfect.
The price you pay, you would expect the food to be really good.
I’m sorry, it so is not.
Selection , quality I would pass.
Go somewhere else.
Service was nice.
That’s the best I can say about this place.
overpriced ...i do not mind price if food has the wow factor...most of the food we ate was ordinary...prepared well , but nothing to remember. Sauces were dull.....no spiciness..bordering on bland...disappointing to say the least
Really appreciated the wonderful choice of table for a special occasion .
Service was great and the food especially our steak dinner was fantastic. Loved the view from our window table.
I ordered the steak with medium rare but it came to my table well done, but once the server found out she just immediately replace a new one for me. So it provides excellent environment, just not 5 stars food.
Primrose is fantastic. Great food , reasonable prices and friendly service with the
Good food in comfortable fine-dining restaurant. Tables not too close together. Lovely views from this hotel restaurant located high up above Banff.
Very nice place for an adult dinner, although there was an incident with two father's and their boys. They were placed away from the rest of the patronage, but they were easily heard and seen because the father's allowed them free rein. It took management too long to address the matter and only after a number of patrons complained. The food was excellent; service exceptional and value very reasonable. Just need to monitor the patronage so as not to permit some young families the ability to ruin the atmosphere for everyone else.
