Primrose Dining Room - Rimrock Resort Hotel
Love the view , the food and the service ❤️
Excellent service with great views, food was good with a creative menu.
Love that they offered assorted sliced cucumbers lime and lemon with water. Great views and tasty entrees. Yes
First time at the Rimrock/Primrose. Food was quite good. Two in my party had beef or lamb and both said it was outstanding. I had halibut, which was just a tad overcooked, but by no means dry. Presentation was lovely and the view of the mountains is gorgeous. Definitely will go back.
We were in town for a meeting and lucked into a table at this gem of a spot. Service was attentive yet never intrusive. Food delicious and the view spectacular.
Great idea for dinner!
25th wedding anniversary meal
Small martinis. Unappealing menu. Very limited appetizer selections. Lamb loin entree fatty and gamey.
We asked to switch tables, they said no. And then another couple who got seated after us asked to switch tables, and they did. Turns out all we had to do was make it look like we would make a scene and then we would get moved to a better spot. We made our reservation a month in advance yet got the worst seating compared to people who just walked in the door.
Food was bland.
Great experience overall. Amazing sangria and delicious food.
The food was amazing and the perfect portion size. The passionfruit dome dessert, especially, was delicious. I would definitely come back just for dessert! And, of course, the view from our table was spectacular!
great locale and service. Very small portions.
Nice place with good food.
Food was good but not great. Service was nice but not excellent. We had a nice meal. My mother's halibut was a bit overcooked but the other dishes were good. The lamp portion was very small but tasty.
Wedding party gathering dinner with extended family
Très bon repas, avec vue magnifique. La cuisson était à point, telle que demandée. Le prix du vin était raisonnable. Très bon service, malgré que le serveur semblait manquer un peu d'expérience. J'y retournerais néanmoins.
Amazing dining room with outstanding customer service. Cannot be beat.
Quality of the food was poor. Medium rare tenderloin was prepared closer to medium well. So many excellent restaurants in Banff. Pass on the Primrose.
Food was good. Views terrific, crying baby was in the restaurant affecting many guests. Hotel restaurant so difficult to avoid but not the best ambiance.
For a hotel restaurant, this is a reasonably good choice; however, if you are expecting a fine dining experience you should probably look elsewhere. Located on the 6th floor (a level below the lobby underneath the bar/cafe outlet), the restaurant occupies a long narrow room at the back of the property with tall windows facing out toward the woods and the mountains. At the back of the room is a buffet installation for breakfast or banquet service that was not in use during evening meals. The tables are set up in two row....one against the window and the other against the wall...service and guests entering the restaurant pass along this ‘corridor’ making it feel institutional and not at all private or intimate. The food is well prepared and attractively presented. It was good, but not exceptional/memorable as was the service. Pricing was at the same level as better dining establishments in Banff.
Although the meal was very good...the portion sizes are very bad. I had the fillet which was to be 6 oz. and it was 2 "pieces". Wife ordered an appetizer that was only 2 pieces. The portions do not reflect the high amount we were charged for the diner.
Marvelous mountain view, wonderful food and service
Amazing dinner. Perfect service. We were celebrating our anniversary. The beautiful mountain views were spectacular. Food was great, menu a little small, but our choices of salmon and beef medallions were very tasty. Highly recommend for special occasion.
Quiet dinner, excellent cuisine with beautiful presentation - views some of the best in the area. Service impeccable.
Very disappointing experience. Menu choice poor, quality of food poor. Staff were not on top of service. We were given the children’s menu instead of sweet menu. Expensive for what it was even with the great views. Get the complimentary bus into Banff and eat downtown where there is more atmosphere, choice and better value.
Primrose was able to attend to my dinner requests and reservations promptly and on a timely matter. My partner and I had an unreal server Mitch. He made our dining experience one to remember and was extremely personable. Lots of good food and polite staff. Would recommend to anyone staying at the Rimrock
The cocktails were delicious to start. The tomato appetizer was fair but the salmon ceviche was great. Our dinners were all very good and cooked perfectly. The portion sizes are very small but sufficient. The chocolate tart was a great end to a very nice dinner.
Excellent service, view is breathtaking, food presentation is like a piece of art!
Both The tenderloin and salmon were very good and well prepared. The overall experience was enjoyable. The kitchen got overwhelmed with a large group and it took over 30 minutes for Desert to arrive. The manager did step in and comped the desert. Other than that hiccup it was a very nice dining experience
Excellent food, excellent service and an unforgettable view.
Fabulous. That sums it up
Excellent ambiance, service and features. Very disappointing that our Wilson California Zinfandel that we brought for our 37th anniversary was not honored. This place does not have a "License for outside wine." Really? Did they ever apply for one? Is one really needed? Is this just a rip-off method to move in-house inventory? Overall, Rimrock has a very poor varietal selection. I suppose that we are spoiled, being in and near the major Calif AOCs. Otherwise, the food is excellent and so is the service. We would probably try the Fairmont if we visit Banff again.
Very accommodating! We have a toddler under 2 years old and the staff was absolutely amazing! We love staying at the hotel and having dinner here. Can’t wait for another staycation.
An average dining experience. The views of course are particularly special!
I have nothing good to say about it. Everything was OK at best.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The potato-leek soup was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. The table was split on the monkfish – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the flat iron steak. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
Just a small staycation from Calgary for the weekend. Service was fine, clean and nice place with views. Food was all bland - not looking for extremely flavourful yet salt was only saviour!
Exceeded all expectations. The waiter was knowledgable and attentive without being annoying! Food some of the best we’ve had since we’ve lived in Canada
The Pasta night at the Primrose is always busy because for the value the food is excellent and the view is spectacular if you manage to get a window seat.
