Primrose Dining Room - Rimrock Resort Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Everything was great! Only one area I think could use a little improvement. The cheese/charcuterie section of the buffet could be far better. Put out some more cheeses and some nicer air dried meats. Maybe some bunderfleish, proccuto etc.. overall well worth the money.
We were there for dinner on pasta night so very busy and noisy. We sat at the back of the restaurant next to the pasta buffet. We did not have the buffet, instead chose items from the menu. Meals were very good. Service was also very good. All in all, no complaints but might plan around pasta night next time.
We had the privilege of dinning in this restaurant and the service was fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to sit next to a window with such an amazing view of the mountains. I found the restaurant to be very quiet and relaxing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. I am looking forward to visiting here again and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere they offer. We are from Calgary and it is definitely worth the drive to the Rimrock Hotel just to visit this restaurant.
The atmosphere was nice, but the food was very disappointing considering the price point. I had the apple salad to start, which was under dressed and under seasoned. It was quite bland and very disappointing considering it was a $14 salad. For my main, I had ordered the lobster carbonara, which was moderately more flavourful, however the lobster was quite overcooked to the point it was chewy. This was a $32 pasta dish and honestly, it was not even remotely worth the price. It was also under seasoned (no salt). My husbands dish also lacked flavour and seasoning.
The service was ok. Our server was attentive at the beginning (when we were the only table in the restaurant), but as more patrons came in, her attention dwindled. We ordered wine to accompany our mains and they arrived well after our entrees were served.
This restaurant received fairly good reviews and I was quite surprised at the experience considering the reviews, so perhaps they had an off night, or something? Anyway, based on this experience, I would definitely not recommend this restaurant.
Primrose is very convenient as it is located at the hotel but the portions are little and the food is okay. Menu doesn't offer full size steak menus and I have to say that I was very disappointed that I only got 3 pieces of vegetable - especially in this day and age where the world wants us to eat healthy but only 3 little pieces of vegetable.....We went back for breakfast and the buffet food was cold. I don't believe that the price suit the quality of food.
Read reviews for my husbands and I’s Anniversary. We decided to go here... we made reservations. We where seated in the middle of the restaurant, I asked if we could be moved to the window, and the hostess said no, because they where fully booked. (Both the seats where 2 & 2, and they could of easily switched our seats with the other people. Are reservations where at 6.... stayed for over 2 1/2 hours and the restaurant was never fully booked.)
Customer service was not best for the amount of money we spent.
They did give us a cute little “happy anniversary desert”
The food was good, you definitely pay for the ambitious.
There was a ton of families in this restaurant also, which was nice.
Beautiful setting and view at the Rimrock hotel. There were 10 of us and it was a limited places we could book for a group that size . We ended up at the Primrose and we were a little hesitant thinking it might be really expensive but it was reasonable and had a beautiful view! I will admit the menu was a bit limited especially for appetizers ... we ordered a flatbread pizza for starters and it was awesome ! We also ordered the half chicken stuffed with Asiago and spinach, beautifully done and very tasty! We would recommend that dish ! We also ordered the pasta with a rich white wine sauce, the pasta was a la dente perfect texture !!!! Definitely recommend that one !!!!
Where the restaurant lacked in appetizers it made up for it in the desserts! We ordered the sampler and it was awesome. The blue velvet cheesecake and the chocolate stout cake were by far our favorite ! The blue velvet cake is truly unique and a must try ! The creme brûlée was also very good ! If you’re in banff and looking for something a little nicer with a view, Primrose is a sure bet !
Lovely food and service for our anniversary dinner. We had a lovely waitress, too.
We went back for lunch the next day but I found that less than satisfactory, unfortunately. The chips were undercooked.
However, the dinner on Thanksgiving was perfect.
overpriced ...i do not mind price if food has the wow factor...most of the food we ate was ordinary...prepared well , but nothing to remember. Sauces were dull.....no spiciness..bordering on bland...disappointing to say the least
Very nice place for an adult dinner, although there was an incident with two father's and their boys. They were placed away from the rest of the patronage, but they were easily heard and seen because the father's allowed them free rein. It took management too long to address the matter and only after a number of patrons complained. The food was excellent; service exceptional and value very reasonable. Just need to monitor the patronage so as not to permit some young families the ability to ruin the atmosphere for everyone else.
We had a lovely dinner at Primrose. Our main motivation was the view which was lovely. Service and food were very good and we were pleased that it was not like many other spots in Banff - over capacity, loud and over priced. Overall I would recommend this spot to others visiting the area.
Food was very diverse including 2 different, unique risottos that were delicious. View from dining room of mountains and surrounding wilderness was stunning. Prices were on high side but fairly appropriate for cuisine and location. Recommended for groups enjoying Banff.
We were impressed by the choices available. The menu was comprehensive and offered some very good choices. The buffet was extraordinary, so many choices and all very delectable. The service was very friendly and struck a perfect balance between attentive and too much attention.
The mountain setting and the great scenery is a also a big plus.
Recommend the Primrose highly and look forward to returning.
We chose for the Primrose instead of the Eden, because we found more items to our liking in the menu. It was a good choice. The food tasted very good and there were nice wines available.
Service was young and enthusiastic although it had to learn more a bit but still worth at least 9 out of 10.
This was the second time we ate at this restaurant. It was very busy and the wait staff could not handle all the people. We had to wait to have our order taken. We had to wait for our entrees and finally we had to wait to get the bill and pay for it. A very different experience from our first visit to this restaurant.
Primrose is ok hotel dining
The food was excellent and service attentive but it was empty and the leather chair was badly ripped. Waitress very sweet but inexperienced and did nothing to replace the chair and simply asked if it was comfortable and shrugged her shoulders! We love the Rimrock as a place to stay but not necessarily to eat. Expensive restaurant but not a destination .
Food was not up to the level we would have expected. Our party of 4 ordered two filet mignon steaks...both of which were overcooked, while the vegetable(including potatoes) were undercooked. The Roasted Cauliflower soup was the worst soup I have ever attempted to eat! No flavor, bad texture. We told our waiter about our issues with the food. He simply apologized...and that was all.
